SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

A super rare Phase 1 Citroen AX 11RE with 39,280 miles and one owner.

EQUIPMENT
Ultra-light synthetic polymer body panels, incorporated boot spoiler, steel passenger safety cage, anti-burst locks, laminated windscreen, full wheel covers,  internally adjustable door mirrors, tilt and remove sunroof, sunroof storage bag, folding rear seats, clock, heated rear window, rear wash/wipe, radio cassette, cigarette lighter, ashtray, door pockets, 2-speed fan/demister.

EXTERIOR
Once a common sight on UK roads, the humble Citroen AX has all but disappeared, particularly in this ultra-rare Phase 1 form.  This remarkable AX 11RE has covered just 39,280 miles from new with one lady owner!  Finished in original Venetian Red, (Code EJX), the paintwork boasts a wonderful deep shine and the super-lightweight panels are incredibly straight and ding free, very rare for a small French car!  A few touched in marks do not detract from the overall impressive appearance.  All trim sections are in excellent order and originality seekers will be pleased to see supplying dealer number plates and all glass sections original etched Citroen fit.  A lovely slice of 1980’s gallic charm!

INTERIOR
A true delight of 1980’s nostalgia!  The delightfully boxy fascia with and sparse equipment levels are exactly what this modest supermini is about, simple economical motoring.  The very clean grey fabric upholstery is in superb order with no rips or tears and the typically French seats are surprisingly comfortable with only slight loosening of the lightweight material on the driver’s seat.  All trim sections, door cards and fascia are immaculate and all functions and controls operate as they should.  The headlining is fully intact with some very light marks.  Low mileage credentials are displayed in the quirky one spoke steering wheel showing prominent veins and no wear, as does the gear knob.  Tyre pressure stickers remain affixed inside the spotless driver’s door aperture.  The immaculate boot area contains the ultra-rare and usually misplaced sunroof bag as well as factory stickers and the original jack and brace.  A delightfully unspoilt interior.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
This early AX 11RE is fitted with the famous PSA TU series 1124cc engine with Magneti Marelli carburettor producing 59hp at 6200rpm.  Weighing just 660kg, 15kg heavier than the 3-door variant, this featherweight is surprisingly lively with a top speed of 104mph and 0-60mph in 11.4 seconds.  The very clean engine bay will delight originality seekers with all factory stickers, plates and panel stampings intact.  Even the painted colour code is clearly visible.  The four-speed manual transmission is light and precise.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The factory fitted 13” pressed steel wheels have the correct original full hubcaps which remain in very good order.  155/70 R13 tyres have plenty of tread and are in good condition.  The dual-circuit X configuration servo assisted brakes provide safe assured stopping power.

HISTORY FILE
Any Citroen AX is a very rare sight on today’s roads, even more so the early phase one entry levels cars in 5-door form.  Registered new on 26th January 1989 by Citroen Main Dealer, Moss Autos of London, this preserved example has covered a fully verified 39,280 miles from new with one owner.  Miss Helene Zervos purchased this example brand new and has used the car regularly but sparingly for the last 30 years with strict garage storage when not in use.  The difficult decision to part with her ‘red rocket’ is born from her advancing years and having given up driving.  The history file consists of the full original Citroen document wallet containing all handbooks, guides and point of sale literature as well as the full service book with 19 stamps.  A file of Citroen main dealer and independent invoices as well as every MOT certificate dating back to the very first in 1992 completes the history file along with both sets of keys and dealer fobs.  Far rarer than much of the worlds motoring exotica, this delightfully nostalgic little AX cannot fail to put a smile on your face and is the perfect entry into low-cost and fun classic car ownership.

TVR Sagaris

SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED.

A wonderfully insane TVR Sagaris with just 6,300 miles from new.

MODEL HISTORY
Designed by Graham Browne, the name Sagaris comes from the Greek name of a lightweight battle-axe used by the Scythians and known for its ability to penetrate the armour of its enemies.  TVR Chief Engineer for the Sagaris, Daniel Boardman, was frustrated with well-known TVR build quality issues and sought to meticulously engineer the car to overcome such, as well as designing the car specifically with endurance racing in mind.  This necessitated the ability to drive unencumbered for extended periods of time on a racetrack and involved the use of a multitude of air vents and intake openings and was a requirement of a car in standard form with no modification to the cooling system.  Built in very limited numbers of around 200 cars, (211 according to popular opinion), the Sagaris is widely regarded and quoted in the motoring press as the best TVR ever made and indeed the last before closure of the TVR assembly line in Blackpool, England.  Further model information and statistics can be read about the Sagaris on the TVR Car Club website here.

EQUIPMENT
Hand laid glass reinforced polyester resin body, power-coated tubular EN36 backbone chassis, integrated FIA roll cage, integrated steel impact bars in doors, curved transparent rear spoiler with machined aluminium brackets, tinted glass, Hydratrak limited slip differential, frameless door windows, programmable digital instrumentation, machined aluminium trim finishing, leather trimmed dashboard, electric door and boot release, electric mirrors, electric windows, alarm and engine immobiliser, Sagaris tread plates, remote locking.  Factory options; Close ratio gearbox, air conditioning.  Dealer options; Armourfend body protection film, T350 leather seats.

EXTERIOR
Finished in original TVR Highland Grey Spectraflair, (Code P160), the awesome pearlescent paint finish reacts to changing light trajectories to create a ‘Chameleon’ effect against the curvaceous body lines.  The finish is near perfect and commensurate with the 6,300 miles covered by this outstanding showpiece.  The aggressive styling is arguably the wildest amongst its TVR brethren and the sculptured bodywork, huge air intakes and curved transparent rear spoiler are a less than subtle hint towards the extremities of this cars capabilities.  All trim sections, glass and badges are as new and the Armourfend body protection film applied to the front, sides and door mirrors have protected against stone chips.  The underside including the power-coated tubular chassis are in amazing order.  A stunning unmolested example resonant of its low mileage credentials.

INTERIOR
The quilted hide upholstery with contrasting white stitching looks incredible and the style is continued into the padded and curvaceous fascia and door trim.  This request cost the owner £2,195 and was carried out by Hexham Horseless Carriages.  Beautiful internal switchgear and controls are machined from solid aluminium and the programmable digital instrumentation is clear and perfect in function.  A typically mad and ostentatious interior with all the TVR wizardry and sporting prowess exactly as the manufacturer intended.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
At the heart of this ferocious TVR Sagaris is the all-aluminium Speed Six straight six engine of 3996cc displacement.  Developing a thunderous 400bhp and 310 ft lbs of torque in a vehicle weighing just 1078kg, performance is truly a white-knuckle experience to set the pulse racing with 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 195mph!  The split-stage engine covers lift to reveal the Sagaris’ throbbing heart and the pristine engine bay displays all build plates and TVR body number.  The intoxicating TVR thunderous rumble through the huge standard side swept exhaust pipes in immensely satisfying.  The factory upgraded five speed close ratio manual transmission offers direct short throw changes and the spherical aluminium gear knob is a superb finishing touch.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The TVR Spider wheels with TVR inscription and centre caps incorporate 18in rims all round and are beautifully preserved in perfect original condition.  Matching Goodyear Eagle F1 255/35 ZR18 tyres have masses of tread remaining.  The huge 322mm front and 298mm rear disc brakes are visible through the large spoke openings and the ornate black callipers with yellow TVR inscription are perfect.  Following the philosophy set down by TVR owner, Peter Wheeler, who believed that driver aids promoted over-confidence and complacency and against European Union guideline, there are no electronic safety aids to tame this beast.  You have been warned!

HISTORY FILE
Registered new on 22nd July 2005 by TVR Main Agents, Hexham Horseless Carriages, this example, Body Code 121, has covered a mere 6,300 miles from new and remains entirely original and factory standard.  Placed into temperature controlled storage and elevated when not in use, the vehicle went back to Hexham Horseless Carriages to be recommissioned in 2012 with 1,927 miles.  Annual MOT history exists throughout and since this point a further three services have been carried out by TVR Specialists, the last by the supplying dealer again at 4,869 miles.

The original TVR black leatherette wallet houses the owner handbook as well as the service booklet with all stamped entries.  TVR Sagaris launch literature and sales brochures remain with the car along with the security code card and two sets of keys.  A unique opportunity to buy what is considered the ultimate TVR with collector condition and credentials.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new on 25th August 1994 by Citroen UK Ltd, Slough, the car was then sold to the only other owner, Mr Bryan Cedar when it was just four months old. He cherished the vehicle and the exceptional condition and low mileage of just 21,806 are very special credentials to car collectors. An impressive history folder containing a huge number of main dealer and Citroen specialist invoices to document the fastidious ownership this car has enjoyed. Every MOT certificate dating back to the first in 1997 further validates the mileage and the full Citroen book pack with service booklet is present. There are two Citroen remote keys plus master key and dealer fobs. To complete the history file is an original Xantia range brochure, Haynes manual and even the supplying dealer gifted fragrance pouch!

This rare early Xantia has been the pride and joy of Mr Cedar where it took prime position in his double garage, and the condition and driving experience is a credit to his devotion to the car. A true delight to traditional Citroen fanciers and surely one of the best in existence.

Finished in stunning and rare factory Guards Red, (Code L84A), the awesome paint finish looks superb and is virtually flawless. The uniform finish and undamaged bodywork are commensurate with such a low mileage well cared for example, and all trim sections and badges are near perfect. A miniscule ding to the nearside front wing can be seen only on meticulous scrutiny. The often-sun-bleached headlights are crystal clear and reflect the strict garage storage. The UV-resistant hood is perfect in operation and fully intact with no damage and the rear screen is clear. The expensive factory optional hard top is in excellent order with light blemishes to the front edge corners only. Underside inspection suggests dry usage only with even factory labels still visible and all consumables and the exhaust are in excellent condition. An exceptional car in a condition far superior to the usual offerings.

INTERIOR
Typical Porsche quality and exemplary craftsmanship is to be expected in this well-appointed cabin space. Everything is arranged according to strict ergonomic principles, ensuring maximum driver enjoyment. The full leather seats in Black, (Code G1), have remained in a beautifully clean condition with firm structure and wear free bolsters. The carpets are spotless having been protected from new by genuine Porsche carpet mats. All controls and functions operate perfectly including the ice-cold air conditioning. Beautifully clean dual cargo areas reflect the minimal use and extended care this car has enjoyed. Originality seekers will note the all-important factory option label attached to the bonnet underside, Mobil 1 sticker to the inner boot lid and factory stickers in the door apertures. Effortless folding of the electric hood transforms this every day roadster into something truly special, with endless scope for open top enjoyment and exhilaration.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Fitted with the robust flat six Porsche Boxer Engine, which encapsulates the powerful blend of boxer engine and classic roadster mid-engine configuration. Controlled by the Motronic ME 7.2 engine management system, Porsche Engineers developed 220hp from the 2,687cc unit to allow 0-62mph in just 6.6 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph! The punchy raw sound delivered from the exhaust system is guaranteed to set the pulse racing. The 5-speed manual transmission has a short shift and is incredibly direct exactly as you would expect from Porsche.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The factory upgraded 17in Porsche Boxster alloy wheels have optional wheel caps with coloured Porsche crest. The wheels are immaculate and entirely free from curb damage. Importantly Porsche recommended Pirelli PZero N5 Rated tyres were fitted brand new in November 2021 at considerable cost. Measuring 205/50 ZR17 upfront and 255/40 ZR17 to the rear. The ABS assisted braking system incorporates 4-Wheel ventilated discs with 4-piston fixed monobloc callipers. The Porsche badged callipers are clearly visible through the spokes and hint towards the racing pedigree infused within this car’s genes.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new on 24th November 2001 by Porsche retailer, Road Range of Liverpool, this example has covered just 30,387 miles. The exemplary condition and credentials are met with an equally impressive history file. The original service book displays 14 stamped entries, all Porsche Main Dealer bar two which are the same Porsche Specialist. Every invoice is filed neatly in chronological order, some of which are well into four figures with the precautionary rear main and intermediate shaft oil seals being replaced in 2009. All handbooks, guides and dealership literature are contained in the Porsche leather wallet and there are two original keys. Completing the history file are all the previous MOT certificates.
