Ford Escort Mk1 AVO Mexico Recreation

SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

A spectacular Mk1 Ford Escort AVO Mexico recreation with a modern twist.

EQUIPMENT
Front quarter bumpers, flared wheel arches, single leaf rear springs, anti-roll bar, strut brace, strengthened chassis rails, bias brake pedal box, Type 9 gearbox (5 speed), boot mounted battery, Safety Devices roll-cage, long base chrome door mirrors, anti-burst locks, black painted aluminium grille, front sports bucket seats with Clubman harness, RS three spoke steering wheel, six dial dash, heater fan, two speed wiper, push-button start, battery and fuel isolator switch, switchable electric engine fan, fire extinguisher, Facet fuel pump.

EXTERIOR
Finished in brilliant Diamond White, this incredible Mexico recreation is visually an iconic symbol of fast fords and draws crowds instantly.   Lightweight flared bubble arches and Mexico decals look stunning set against the virtually unblemished glossy bright white paint.  A body coloured underside with clean painted components and an engine bay suitable for bonnet-up exhibiting will please those who enjoy the show circuit.  Minor markings to front screen are barely visible and a small stain to the mirror finish rear chrome bumper do not spoil the impeccable overall finish of this retro Ford.

INTERIOR
The interior of this vehicle has not escaped the painstaking program of refurbishment, starting with the high quality front sports seats with Clubman harness offering both comfort and steadfast support upon even the wildest cornering!  Fabulously appointed aluminium components surround the driver and contrast beautifully with the shark grey alcantara trim which even extends to the padded dash top, headlining and door cards.  The original vinyl rear bench seat is in excellent condition with no rips or tears and a pristine RS three spoke sports steering wheel is present.  The central lightweight aluminium control panel houses safety cut-off switches and a push-button start but the extra fuel pressure gauge and rev counter is inoperative. A Safety Devices roll-cage offers both strength and security and the boot area has a correctly positioned battery housed as per the earlier Mexico’s manufactured along with the spare wheel.  Functional, fun and very Ford!

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
A power plant that is guaranteed to delight and excite!  This beautiful Ford Escort Mexico conversion started with a Black Top 2.0 litre Ford Zetec engine.  The power delivery is instant with 150bhp yet still managing to be civilised for when you have a more relaxed drive on the agenda.  An Ashley sports steel exhaust emits a crisp bark that is intoxicating and addictive especially when combined with the induction noise from the Yamaha R1 carburettors.  Fully inspected at install with a new cam-belt this engine runs beautifully thanks to a complete Megajolt 3D ignition system.  A Type 9 five speed gearbox has been fitted and it is housed correctly in a modified gearbox tunnel. The ultimate driving pleasure.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Perfect JBW 15X8 Minilight Alloy wheels with polished chrome outer edges are wrapped in Kumho Ecsta Spt 205/50 R15 tyres all-round.  The brakes have been uprated to 247mm vented front discs with M16 callipers and EBC Greenstuff front pads.  A bias brake pedal box controls the disc/drum braking force should the desire to misbehave prevail!

HISTORY FILE
Registered new on the 1st December 1971 as a humble Escort 1300L, this car lead an unassuming life with all four former keepers before being purchased by Mr Steve Devereux in February 2010.  Mr Devereux, (a Mercedes Engineer by trade but a real Ford aficionado at heart), embarked upon an incredible quest to recreate a Ford legend, with a modern twist.  The result is of course the magnificent creation offered here.  Countless invoices and build photos form an impressive history file and help to convey the true extent to which this car has been prepared.  After nearly five and half years of ownership the difficult decision to part with this pride and joy has been made to make way for a new Ford project.

HISTORY FILE

The history file consists of a comprehensive collection of invoices and receipts as well as RS Owners Club documentation to highlight the cherished enthusiast ownership this example has enjoyed with just four former UK owners. Previously sold by KGF Classic Cars to enthusiast Mark Fewtrell who has enjoyed the car predominantly for shows. Unable to resist the temptation to purchase another classic from us, Mr Fewtrell has reluctantly offered this RS2000 back to us. A very welcome return!

Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth

SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

One of only 52 Moonstone Blue Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth’s with just 19,945 miles.

MODEL HISTORY
The Sierra RS Cosworth project was defined in the spring of 1983 by the then recently appointed head of Ford Motorsport in Europe.  It was established that at the time, Ford was no longer competitive in this area.  After receiving full support from Ford Public Relations, the project was underway with the Sierra chosen as the basis for the project.  Ford Motorsport in Europe approached the automotive company Cosworth who answered positively, but put up two conditions:  The street version of the car had to produce no less than 204 HP, and Ford had to accept no less than 15,000 engines.  Few cars have ever been greeted with such enthusiasm as the original Sierra RS Cosworth, perhaps only the exclusive 500 cars that were developed to become an evolution edition, unbeatable on the track.  Aston Martin at Tickford were assigned with converting the 500 cars, which in 1987 were to be announced as the RS500.  Engineering differences aside, largely the cars were aesthetically similar to the standard Cosworth.  The main differences being the additional boot mounted spoiler, discrete badges and the revised front bumper to aid improved cooling.  This included the removal of the front fog lamps as standard, but with the dealerships offering reinstatement as an optional extra.

EQUIPMENT
Bodyside mouldings, integral front air dam, colour coded door mirrors, electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors, colour coded lockable fuel filler cap, bonnet cooling vents, halogen headlamps, colour coded bumpers, single plane rear wing spoiler with trailing edge fence, lower tailgate mounted spoiler, tinted glass all round, tailgate wash/wipe, laminated windscreen, central locking, extended centre console, cigar lighter, quartz digital clock, fascia light dimmer, leather gearknob, leather three spoke sports steering wheel, 3-speed heater fan , cassette storage, electronic sound system (model ECU2) with power amplifier, electric aerial, Recaro Sports front seats, split folding rear seats, tilt and slide sunroof, tachometer with turbo boost gauge, trip recorder, anti-locking brake system with failure warning light, electric front windows.  Dealer options; Headlamp protectors, Ford rubber mats.

EXTERIOR
The motorsport cued stylings of this RS Cosworth are utterly breath-taking and nothing short of simply magnificent.  Finished in optional Ford Moonstone Blue (code K6), the paintwork boasts a deep gloss shine and beautifully polished finish.  The car has no rust or corrosion whatsoever and only a small chip to the front offside wing is worthy of mention.  All exterior trim, rubbers, glass and lights remain free from damage, as have the all imperative RS500 badges and decals.  The front lower splitter has remained true to shape and the original Cibie headlamps are protected by plastic fitted covers.  A very clean underside displays original manufacturer stampings on various components.  A truly incredible car in astonishing preserved condition, the pinnacle RS500.

INTERIOR
The interior of this RS500 is simply beautiful.  Finished in Ford Roma Grey (code S2), the Recaro seats and carpeted door trim are in remarkable condition with no wear or discolouration.  The three spoke leather steering wheel and gear knob reflect the low mileage covered.  The carpets are spotless and have remained free from wear having been protected from new by genuine Ford rubber mats.  All dials and gauges operate perfectly including all electric warning lamps and the door open/bulb blown warning display.  The dashboard is superb having suffered no cracks or discolouration, with only four tiny drill holes to the lower passenger foot well where a 1980’s mobile phone speaker once lived!  A spotless boot area houses the original wooden wheel cover and an undamaged straight parcel shelf, impossible to source.  An incredible surviving 1980’s RS interior, truly astonishing.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The original RS Cosworth powerplant warrants little introduction.  Fitted with the standard 2.0 Dual Over Head Cam (DOHC) with the larger Garrett AiResearch T31/T04 turbocharger and intercooler, the motorsport pedigree of this car is unmistakable.  With an impressive output of 224HP allowing the car to accelerate smoothly through 0-60 in 6.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 153mph.  With manufacturer stickers and panel stamps displayed, the engine bay is incredible in its originality and condition, even down to the original material fuse box cover.  The correct engine and chassis identification numbers identify this as a true genuine RS500.  The gear changes are crisp, tight and precise, exactly as you would expect from such a low mileage cosseted example.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The factory fitted 15 X 7 inch RS Sierra Cosworth alloy wheels housed within the flared arches are in pristine unrestored condition, and are shod with the original ultra-low profile Dunlop D40 205/50 R15 tyres all round including the spare, with excellent tread remaining.  Diagonally split hydraulic circuits, anti-lock braking assisted 28.3cm ventilated discs up front and 27.3cm discs at the rear bring the car to a sure and steady halt.

HISTORY FILE
Supplied by Ford RS Dealers on 10th September 1987, build number 471 of 500 has covered an amazingly low 19,945 miles from new.  All handbooks including the all-important RS500 Cosworth supplement remain in the history file along with some previous MOT certificates and copy V5 documents.  An independent report commissioned by the previous owner by renowned valuation experts Julian Shoolheifer Limited was carried out on 28th October 2014.  This car has also formed part of the world famous Bonkers Collection to which all Ford aficionados are aware.  KGF Classic Cars have taken the car to respected Mr Harvey Gibbs of Cosworth specialists, Supreme Car Services, for a full service and inspection including cambelt and tensioner as well as a MOT.  One key fits all locks and ignition.

HISTORY FILE
With only 109 road cars built between March 1975 and September 1977 the Escort RS 1800 Mk2 is an exceptionally rare and sought after car. All RS1800`s were produced in Diamond white with the exceptions of one Geneva Motor Show car and one Press Car JJN 100N that were produced in Carnival Red, and to date another road car leaving the factory in Venetian Red XYD 992S. (Source Ford RS Owners Club). This example is a recreation of the Ford Press Car and was originally supplied by Rallye Sport dealers, Thomas Motors Ltd in Cleveleys to Mr Todd as a 2 door 1300 Ghia on the 10th August 1976. On his passing in 1981 his wife, Mrs Nora Todd, took ownership and it remained largely unused until blue oval enthusiast, Martin Jones bought the car in November 2013 with 31,200 miles. Mr Jones, a Mechanical Engineer by profession, had restored a number of Lotus Cortina’s but always wanted to own a Mk2 Escort RS1800. Ford Escort Mk2 RS2000 Broadstripe

SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

A very rare early Ford Escort Mk2 RS2000 Broadstripe in exceptional condition.

EQUIPMENT
Polyurethane front end incorporating four Cibie quartz halogen headlamps, front air dam, rubberised tail spoiler, four piece Ford badges on grille and boot lid, unique broad bodyside stripes, RS2000 decals, black door mirrors, laminated windscreen, tinted glass, hazard warning flashers, heated rear window, separate fuel, water temperature and oil pressure gauges, padded sun visors, centre console, two-speed heater, aeroflow ventilation with eye ball vents.  Factory options; Ziebart rust protection treatment.  Optional Equipment: Ford mudflaps.

MODEL HISTORY
Launched in January 1976, the Mk2 Escort RS2000 featured the highly distinctive ‘droop snoot’ nose cone housing the four Cibie quartz halogen headlamps.  The early cars at the time of launch were only available with one specification and one trim colour option, black.  Known as the Broadstripe due to the wider side coachline designed to replicate a continuation of the bumpers, the basic specification of these early cars had all the options which were later to make up the `Custom Pack`.  In July 1976 the Broadstripe was dropped for a smaller twin coachline and in 1978 the introduction of two models, the Base and Custom Packs offered a wider choice for Ford customers.

EXTERIOR
This very early March 1976 example represents an extremely rare car with its non-sunroof and non-vinyl roof configuration.  Finished in the rare original colour of Carnival Red (code D), the vibrant paintwork is simply stunning.  Only very close scrutiny from the perfectionist will reveal minimal and miniscule imperfections to the finish, entirely insignificant.  The Ziebart plugged drill holes remain having served their purpose of preserving the cars structural integrity.  Correct early RS2000 exterior features include the broad side stripe, ‘pre blue oval’ FORD lettering to the grille and bootlid and wing badges to denote 2.0 engine size.  A program of underside and engine compartment detailing add to the exceptional appeal of this beautiful car and firmly upholds its show car credentials.  All trim sections and decals are perfect and just as Ford intended, and the supplying Ford dealer rear screen sticker remains in place.  Truly pristine and very very special.

INTERIOR
The absolute wow factor certainly continues to the interior of this RS2000.  Correct standard Black (code A8) Scheel roll top seats preceded the widely used Fishnets Recaros, and these fitments are pristine.  Further features of the pre Custom/Base cars include the black headlining, tinted glass, Ford analogue clock, glovebox and white needle instruments, all items present and correct!  The perfect fascia and dash top house fully functioning gauges and equipment including the two speed fan and clock.  The carpets, door cards and black headlining are all unmarked.  A spotlessly clean boot displays the rubber strap holding the spare wheel and the original jack inside the Ford hessian bag is present.  An alarm has been fitted.  Beautifully preserved and wonderfully true to the Ford RS vision, simply superb!

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
An overhauled 1993cc SOHC engine features a correct blue rocker cover and has been further enhanced with the addition of twin Weber 45 DCOE carburettors.  All components are beautifully detailed and polished to match the exceptional exterior.  An invoice in the history file dated April 2015 from renowned Wayne Mitchell Competition Engines Ltd evidences a full check over including compression check, timing adjustment, coolant flush, ignition timing, carb balance, gearbox oil and various other points to ensure absolute optimum performance.  A Type 9 gearbox conversion has been professionally installed to offer real modern day usability.  This classic RS2000 goes even better than it looks!

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Stunning replica four spoke Ronal style 6J x 13in alloy wheels feature polished face and rims with black infills to create a true testament to the original RS fitments.  All four wheels are in perfect condition and shod in quality Yokohama A539 185/60 R13 tyres with masses of tread remaining.  Vacuum servo assisted and uprated front disc brakes with rear drums brakes offer ample stopping power.

HISTORY FILE
An amazing and extensive history file to complete the package!  Supplied new by Ford Rallye Sport Dealers Alexanders of Edinburgh on 1st March 1976, this very early Mk2 RS2000 has had just four former keepers.  The new vehicle sold card in the file even confirms the salesman’s name as well as the first keeper Mr David William Raistrick.  No less than two service books are complete revealing the care bestowed on this car and a large neat folder houses many specialist invoices and previous MOT certificates to help support the mileage displayed of 77,619 miles.  Two Operation and Care booklets are in the file, one to cover all Escort models and another specifically for the Mexico and RS2000 models!

This incredible example has been enthusiast owned and cherished from new, and the car presented today represents the ultimate classic RS Ford.  Satisfying the desires for rarity, fun and impeccable finish, this RS2000 Broadstripe simply cannot be overlooked.
