The five-speed manual gearbox is a joy to operate and this lively car is great fun to drive!

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
6X13 steel wheels are graced with Ghia specification full wheel covers with chrome inserts in excellent condition. All tyres including the spare are matching premium brand 155/80 R13 Firestone F590 with ample tread, the spare in fact having never been used and still showing colouring banding to the tread. It was available as a road car from 1992-96 in limited numbers from Ford’s Specialist Vehicle Engineering, (SVE), Group. It combines the hand-assembled engine expertise of Cosworth and the coach-building crafts of Karmann. In order to accommodate the larger Cosworth engine and transmission Ford developed the car around the chassis and mechanicals of its predecessor, the Sierra Cosworth. A very rare car with only 7,145 examples being produced with this example being one of the very last. (Source Wikipedia, 1995 Edition One RS Brochure, RS Owners Club).

EQUIPMENT
Body colour front bumper with black lower extension, front air dam, louvred bonnet air intakes, wing air extraction grilles, integral driving lights and fog lights, driver airbag, central double locking, padded armrest with cassette storage, oil pressure gauge, turbo gauge, voltmeter, quartz digital clock with ambient temperature, electro-luminescent dials, Ford 2007 RDS radio/cassette. Factory Options; Luxury Model comprising of; electrically operated and heated door mirrors, ‘Quickclear’ heated windscreen, heated washer jets, three-spoke leather covered steering wheel, rear centre armrest, rear head restraints, electric sunroof, electric windows, carpeted door bins. EXTERIOR
With 200 hours detail development in Fords own Cologne wind tunnel the rally-bred innovation of this pristine example is unmistakable and outwardly exhilarating. Finished in iconic Diamond White, (Code B 2), the finish can be described as impeccable thanks to the ultra-low mileage and indoor storage. The black lower bumper extension with front air splitter has no marks. All glass, lights and trim are in perfect condition. The underside of this 408 mile example is astonishing. Labels, stickers, tags and paint dabs are visible just as it left the factory. The light application of wax applied at the Rheine Assembly Plant with a yellow tinge has never been removed and this example is absolutely the blueprint to Fords scintillating Escort RS Cosworth.

INTERIOR
The interior of this late production Escort RS Cosworth is as new and exactly as Ford intended. The body-hugging Recaro seats adorned in Hexagon Grey Cloth, (Code L9), are sublime with complete fullness. All trim, switch gear and touch points are factory fresh in part due to the incredibly low mileage but also due to the owner wrapping protective film throughout. The door cards and all carpeting is perfect. Turning on the ignition reveals all electrics operational including the Ford 2007 RDS radio/cassette and being the Luxury Edition, a full range of features are standard with the added benefit of optional air conditioning too. Incredibly special and a collectors dream come true!

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The powerful and well proven Cosworth 2.0 litre 16v turbocharged YBT engine features the Garrett T25 hybrid turbocharger. Its lower rotor inertia, higher gas velocities and revised overboost strategy reduces turbo lag and improves drivability. 220bhp is quoted with 0-60mph obliterated in 5.7 secs and a top speed of 140 mph. To offer absolute piece of mind this example has been fully recommissioned in December 2023 by Cosworth Specialists, Harvey Gibbs at Supreme Car Services. The permanent Ferguson four wheel drive system with 34/66% front/rear power split mated to a MT 75 5-speed gearbox is a proven combination.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Genuine Ford RS 8 X 16” five soft-spoke alloy wheels built by Ronal are pristine and still shod in the specially formulated and factory Pirelli P Zero tyres developed for the Escort RS Cosworth. Electrically-controlled ABS anti-lock system with two microprocessors and ventilated front and rear discs offer immense stopping power having been recently overhauled.

HISTORY FILE
This iconic Ford Escort RS Cosworth was built in December 1995 at the Rheine Assembly Plant in Germany and registered new on the 22nd January 1997. According to Ford historians, the last ever Escort RS Cosworth was also built in November 1995 and left the Karman factory on 12 January 1996 with chassis number SP93313, (unfortunely this car has now been stolen). Still registered to the Ford Motor Company, this would make this one registered keeper with minuscule mileage, one of the very last few made!

Purchased by Rodney Fletcher, Proprietor of Rod Allen Cars at a Ford Closed Sale held by National Car Auctions on the 24th March 1997. The vehicle had covered 24 miles at this point as printed on the Lot sheet. Mr Fletcher covered 352 miles on Trade Plates before deciding to place it at the rear of his showroom surrounded by wall mirrors and marked up at a healthy £32,995. Knowing it was one of the last produced and no new examples were to be made, there it remained until March 2006 when a Ford enthusiast purchased it. The Used Car Sales Invoice reveals the purchase price of £32,995 along with two important letters. One from Rod Allen Cars asking the new owner not to modify or alter the original specification in anyway and if stored correctly and unused he would buy it back minus 10%. The other letter dated 31st March 2006 from Chris Shambrook, Manager Auction Sales at the Ford Motor Co, stating his predecessor, Mr David Berry, ‘remembers selling the white Cosworth at which time it had covered a nominal distance of twenty four miles’. At the point of sale in March 2006 the vehicle was fully serviced as evidenced in the history file and had its first MOT with 353 miles.

The new owner had one further MOT in 2007 when the car had covered 378 miles before wrapping the car in protective film and placing it in storage. As an Associate Member of the RS Owners Club, offers would arrive over the years but were declined until KGF Classic Cars were contacted in November 2022. Eventually we were successful in purchasing the car in November 2023! Now fully prepared to the exacting KGF Classic Cars meticulous standards and fully recommissioned by one of the country’s leading Cosworth Specialists, Harvey Gibbs of Supreme Car Services. The original book pack is present along with three keys including the red master, the car is perfect in every way and represents one of the most original, lowest mileage examples worldwide.

Despite minimal use it had more oil and filter changes that he could remember, was started and run every week or two and was only run on 4 Star petrol! MOT certificates and Ford invoices support all the maintenance work and low mileage. A letter from Mr Lyons to the only other owner, Mr Harris, is also included for verification of the special history of this car. The new vehicle invoice reveals a price paid of £10,591.59 less part exchange allowance for Mr Aldridge’s 1984 Capri 1600LS. A letter in the history file was written by the owner just before he decided to sell after 38 years ownership whereby, he details his custodianship of the car including how he collected his Capri from the dealership when it had covered just 3.7 miles and he was aged just 21 years! The car was driven home on that first day and parked in the garage only for the next day he woke to a foot of snow outside and the car could not be driven, very frustrating! Within the first year the owner decided to have a stainless-steel exhaust system custom made to exactly replicate the original at a cost of £1,078! Very soon into ownership and by his own admission, the car became an obsession and it was polished weekly, never taken out in the rain and has never even been wet-washed! HISTORY FILE
What an incredible history file tracking this ultra-rare Mk1 Ford Cortina Standard Fleet model. Ordered on the 2nd May 1966 by Mr Clifford Chambers, a British Forces Headmaster posted at Johor, Malaysia through the Holly Motor Company Ltd as detailed on the new car invoice in preparation for his return to the UK. The Ford Motor Company Ltd Dagenham release document confirms the specification and delivery to Regent Street for UK first registration on the 22nd June 1966. Owned by Mr Chambers and his wife for the next 45 years and one Ford Cortina guru, James Clarke since 2011, this example has only had three owners from new in 57 years! In readiness for Mr Chambers next posting to Germany he also ordered continental headlamps, (now replaced with genuine Lucas items), and an anti-theft steering lock totalling £3.85! The car made a trip to Germany and the Townsend Car Ferries window sticker is still in the history file but continual tax discs from May 1967, MOT certificates and annual Ford main dealer servicing by Sparkes Garages in Bristol proves its UK home.

Once Britain’s best-selling car, the Standard Cortina Saloon or Fleet Model was marketed by Ford as ‘offering outstanding performance with economy; the lowest cost car in its class. An ideal vehicle for everyday business or for the family man who wants maximum saloon-car space at minimum cost.’ Correctly identified by the BA72 chassis number the Mk1 Ford Cortina Owners Club have established this as one of just 34 UK Fleet Models known to exist. In comparison, 486 Lotus Cortina are known to the Club! Furthermore, the Club have confirmed only three 4dr Aeroflow cars are known to exist worldwide. (Source: Marc Gimmel – Cortina MK1 Register). Highly regarded within the Mk1 Cortina Owners Club and previously owned by James Clarke since 2011, (the once proud owner of a concours 2dr Fleet Cortina KGF Classic Cars also now own), this example has won National Supreme Champion and Best Rare Model along with many more awards.

A file containing all invoices from new, every V5 including the original Buff Green Logbook are neatly filed with the cars Passport to Ford Service and handbook. Fully traceable history, rarity, low owners and a Supreme Champion, what fabulous credentials!
