EXTERIOR
Styled by Bertone, this super chic Punto Cabrio exudes bags of Italian charm with a huge fun factor.  Finished in factory optional Verde Garden or ‘Garden Green’ (code 369/A), this rare colour boasts a bright finish.  The vehicle does display a number of imperfections owing to an elderly previous keeper’s diminishing driving skills.  Specifically worthy of mention is a small dent to the bonnet edge and offside front wing.  A tiny ding to the driver’s door and very light scuffs to some bumper corners are visible.  Supplying dealer number plates and tax disc holder represent a pleasing touch of originality and the factory badges and Bertone styling emblem remain in place.  With reinforced floor pan, sills, and doors and a strengthened windscreen frame, this was the first convertible in its class to pass the stringent American roll-over test (USA 216 Standard).  The original electric hood is perfect and operates effortlessly to reveal a genuine four seat soft top ready for endless summer posing!

INTERIOR
The interior of this cheeky Cabrio is absolutely incredible with a real factory fresh appeal, entirely commensurate with an example of such incredible low mileage.  The original Blue Velour upholstery (code 124) is perfect with no wear whatsoever, as are the matching door cards.  The spotless carpeting retains its fullness and clearly reflects the very minimal usage.  All functions and controls operate seamlessly and the fascia is as new.  The steering wheel and gearknob portray the mere 9,983 miles covered with the natural veins prominent and defined.  This incredible interior offers a real 1994 Fiat showroom experience and is certain to delight the appreciative enthusiast.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Fitted with the 1581cc fully integrated and robotised multi-point injection unit, this car produces 90bhp at 5750rpm and maximum torque of 93lbs.ft at 2750rpm.  A top speed of 106mph and 0-62 in 12.3 seconds is huge fun in this nimble soft top supermini.  The five speed gearbox is light and precise whilst remaining positively notchy, just as it left the showroom!

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Factory optional five spoke alloy wheels are original non refurbished items in excellent order displaying only minor scratches.  The 185/55 R14 tyres have masses of tread remaining and the space saving spare remains shod in the factory Pirelli tyre with the original toolkit housed within.  Independent brake circuits incorporating front discs and rear drums bring the car to a straight line stop quickly and safely.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new by Main Dealers Fiat Motor Sales of London on 7th September 1994, this example has had just two former keepers from new.  The first keeper being an elderly lady who used the car very sparingly throughout 12 years of ownership.  The previous keeper purchased the car as a recreational vehicle to tow behind his Winnebago motorhome.  The motorhome now being used less often means the Punto is surplus to requirements.   Some MOT certificates help to support the amazing low mileage of 9,983 miles and the hugely important Fiat red master key remains with the car along with a second blue spare.  An original sales brochure completes the history file for this wonderful and rare modern classic cabriolet.

The interior of this RS1600i is in fantastic order.  Finished in Shark Grey Crushed Velour (trim code TC), the seats and bolsters have retained all structural integrity and the coverings have only the mildest age related wear especially noticeable on the driver’s bolster inner edge.  The matching door cards and perforated headlining are in pristine condition.  The deep grey carpets are clean and free from undue wear.  Amazingly, the dashboard is completely free from the all too common cracking.  All interior equipment is functional and the trim pieces intact, including the immaculate rear parcel shelf which has remained free from speaker cut outs.  A Ford push button radio completes this wonderfully classic Ford interior.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Fitted with Fords 1600 Compound Value angle Hemispherical chamber (CVH) unit producing a manufacturer quoted 115 BHP.  Mated to the Bosch K Jetronic Fuel Injection System and incorporating deceleration fuel shut off, the instrument orange and red lamps illuminate upon deceleration once the engine is at operating temperature and the engine speed is above 1600rpm.  The car has a top speed of 118mph and achieves 0-60 in 8.7 seconds with an addictive and instantly recognisable rasp from the standard size exhaust.  The gear changes are light and exact, a pleasure to operate.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The original 15 X 6 inch RS seven spoke alloy wheels are pristine and correct to the RS1600i model having only one spoke on each wheel stamped with the Ford emblem as opposed to the more common RS Turbo fitments with three stamped spokes.  The spare has minor curb damage. The wheels are shod with matching quality 195/50/R15 tyres all round.  Diagonally split hydraulic circuits with tandem master cylinder, vacuum servo assistance and 9.4” ventilated discs up front bring the car to a halt but far short of modern standards.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new on 5th August 1983, this example has covered just 76,688 miles from new in the hands of five former keepers.  The history file comprises of some previous MOT certificates and some invoices including one dated April 2012 documenting a full cambelt kit and new water pump with less than 5,000 miles covered since.

A remarkably well preserved example of a rare car that is fast becoming highly desirable, most definitely one for the true enthusiast.
