EXTERIOR
Boasting the accolade of winning the very first European Car of the Year award in 1964, the all new and innovative Rover P6 was a ‘clean sheet’ design and replaced the aging P4. This stunning 2200TC model is finished in the original colour of Mexico Brown, (Code ACC), as denoted on the Factory Record Certificate issued by the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust. The deep lustrous shine to the paintwork looks incredible and boasts a beautiful uniform finish. All panels are in outstanding order with clean seams lines and factory spot welds that positively separate this car from the usual patched up and bodged examples. There is a very light long scratch to the lower rear nearside wing, not very noticeable. The underside is in superb order. All factory chrome has a bright mirror finish with only light aging and the trim sections and rubbers are in excellent order. The boot lid and front wing Rover and 2200TC badges are near perfect but the front Rover emblem is crazed and discoloured. A truly opulent design from the Rover heydays and very difficult to better with this exceptional example.

INTERIOR
The lavish interior is typical of this era of Rover and remains in outstanding original condition commensurate with the low 42,269 miles covered. The factory coverings to the box-pleated double-corded brushed nylon seats in Sandalwood are in excellent condition and are free from damage or significant wear. The seats are immensely comfortable and a true sense of occasion overwhelms on every journey. The matching door cards with wood veneer cappings and the headlining are immaculate and the beautifully ornate steering wheel and switchgear are a delight for appreciators of the bygone era. All functions and controls operate including the original LW/MW radio. The carpets are clean with a few very isolated and small areas of thinning to the main touch points. The huge luggage area boasts a neat custom made and removable false floor to hide the spare wheel as opposed the original vertical mounted arrangement. The spare wheel cover and bracket are included to revert back if required. This is truly a first-class interior of this iconic model complete with delightful period Rover scent!

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Powered by the factory fitted 2200TC specification engine, this four-cylinder unit with aluminium alloy head and twin S.U.HIF 6 carburettors produces 115bhp and 183Nm of torque. The engine breathes through a stainless-steel exhaust and performs brilliantly, is surprisingly swift and a real pleasure to drive. The unmolested engine bay is beautifully clean and displays factory stickers, labels and the inner wings both have the original chassis number stamp. The four-speed gearbox has synchromesh on all forward gears and operates brilliantly.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Full width easy-clean polished stainless steel trim covers are in remarkable condition and look superb, and the matching classic style tyres of size 165/80 R14 have masses of tread remaining. Factory fitted with Girling disc brakes front and rear and featuring servo assistance, this advanced for the time and well-maintained braking system operates very well. New discs have been fitted to the front and the braking system overhauled.

HISTORY FILE
A copy of the Austin Rover vehicle register in the history file confirms a build date of 13th November 1989 for what was to be possibly the luckiest and most pampered Metro there ever was to be! The car was registered new on 21st November 1989 by Rover Main Dealer, Lex Mead Stockport, to first owner, Mrs McHale. Cherished, strictly garaged and maintained regardless of cost, the car had covered just 19,000 miles when in 2009 Mrs McHale sadly passed away. Later that year, Tom Morley who is a prominent Metro Owner’s Club member and collector of British Leyland and Austin Rover cars, took up the opportunity to purchase the car. Then began what was to be a journey of many years of dedication to the car and countless winning podium positions at national shows and concours judging events. There are too many winning accolades, Best in Show awards and Pride of Ownership achievements to list, with a full set of awards in the history file. A huge achievement was when the Metro qualified and was showcased on the prestigious Meguiar’s Stand at the NEC Classic Car Show in November 2019 to feature on the Best in Show stand. Please click here to see a video of Tom being interviewed by Mike Brewer at the show.

The immaculate presented and categorised history file is every inch as meticulous as the car itself and features a huge record of the cars show history and awards along with several albums of photos including those cataloguing the detailing process. A second section holds a massive file of invoices and MOT certificates dating back to 1996 to accompany the full book pack including the service book in the Lex Mead wallet. The Meguiar’s and Autoglym show boards remain with the car ready for the next owners show attendance! With Metro’s fast becoming increasingly collectable having celebrated the 40th Anniversary in 2020, this pampered example is without question one of the best in existence and proven so!

The servo assisted brakes incorporating front discs and rear drums bring the car to a prompt and assured halt and the car rolls freely.

HISTORY FILE
An astonishing history. Purchased new by Mini fanatic, Patrick James Callinan, (his personalised plate remains on the vehicle from new C8 PJC), this example was registered on the 3rd May 2000. Wanting one of the final classic Mini’s before production ceased he ordered the car directly from Rover MG Main Dealer, Houtkamp B.V. in Amsterdam. At the time they offered UK buyers a saving on factory ordered RHD UK specification cars and even paid for travel and accommodation! Safe in the knowledge this car is identical to the one supplied by his local dealer and the prospect of a fun European drive home, he placed the order. Unfortunately soon after his return he passed suddenly. His partner, Teresa Doree, relays the story in writing to be included in the cars history file, that she could not bear the thought of selling the car with so many adventures planned together and it remained in her cherished care until 2016. At this time the car was sold to a car collector Mr West who continued the preservation and factory immaculate storage. A full complement of keys, tags and remotes are included. On a successful sale KGF Classic Cars will discuss options regarding servicing and MOT carried out at the buyers discretion and at no cost.

Mr and Mrs Savage adored the car and kept it immaculate and strictly garaged. Despite the low mileage, the service book contains a remarkable 20 stamped service entries, 19 of which are the supplying dealer, SMC Rover, with every supporting invoice in the history folder! The grey Rover wallet holds all handbooks, guides, code cards and dealership point of sale literature and there are three Rover keys. EXTERIOR
Finished in optional Starlight Silver Metallic, (Code MBB), the paintwork is remarkable thanks to the car covering an incredible genuine 5,557 miles from new. The retired long-term keeper from new insisted on keeping the car strictly garaged and with advancing years used the vehicle sparingly. All panels are pin straight and the very clean underside still has factory labels attached. Tiny markings are visible only upon close inspection and there are some very light scratches to the rear bumper. Door shuts are free from grime and even have the blue factory cellophane protecting chrome sill finishers! Wheel arch apertures are amazing with even the coil springs still retain their white paint dabs. All trim sections, glass, lights and badges are pristine and the original Rover main dealer number plates and rear screen sticker are fitted. Representative of a nearly new showroom example, preserved to an amazing standard.

INTERIOR
The interior of this time warp example is in pristine original condition. The comfortable seats in Light Smokestone Geo seat facing, (Code LPR), are as new. The Burr walnut facia inserts are typical Rover standard specification and add a little luxury alongside features such as cut pile carpets and tinted glass. All controls and switchgear operate including the air conditioning and the Blaupunkt electronic tune radio CD. The digital clock display is slightly incomplete but still easily legible. The boot area is as new with the Dunlop SP10 spare tyre unused and even the polystyrene holder with Jack and wheel brace still in the cellophane wrapping! Remarkable in every respect.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The punchy 4-cylinder transverse 1.4 16v DOHC engine with electronic multi-point fuel injection performs impeccably and produces 83bhp. A top speed of 105mph and 0-60mph in 11.8 secs are quoted. The pristine engine bay is virtually as new and displays factory plates, stickers, labels and even coloured PDI dabs! The 5-speed manual gearbox is light and a joy to use.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Standard 14” steel wheels with Rover wheel trims are fully intact with only light outer scratches on two of the trims. The factory Dunlop SP10 tyres remain fitted with virtually no wear, but renewal prior to regular use is advised purely down to age. The servo-assisted diagonal split dual circuit braking system features factory optional Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with front discs and rear drums to bring the car to an assured halt safely.

HISTORY FILE
This incredibly low mileage example was registered new on the 24th September 2004 by Rover Main Dealer, Phoenix of Coventry. The original owner kept the car for 15 years until his sad passing in 2019 whereby ownership transferred to his daughter. In August 2020 the car was sold by KGF Classic Cars to an enthusiast with a very eclectic collection of vehicles including a classic Mercedes SL, MGB and a Tesla! A loss of secure dry storage means the Rover is now due to find a new home on a reluctant last in first out basis. The plastic document wallet holds the original handbook/service book and there is every MOT certificate dating back to 2008 to fully verify the exceptionally low 5,557 miles from new. Further invoices, range sales brochure and two sets of remote keys with fobs and dealer keyrings complete the history file.

A perfect entry into affordable modern classic car ownership with an immaculate surviving model and certainly one of the best remaining, now deserving of an appreciative new owner and Rover aficionado.

Rover 220 Turbo Tomcat Coupe

SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

The holy grail of all FDH Rover 220 Turbo Tomcat Coupe’s with only 6,646 miles.

MODEL HISTORY
Developed by Rover based on the R8 200/400 Series and given the project code name ‘Tomcat’, the Rover Coupe was launched on 6th October 1992 at the Paris Motor Show, the most powerful version being the 220 Turbo and hailed as one of the most powerful production Rovers ever built.  ‘FDH’ registered cars need little introduction to the Rover fraternity, referring to the approximately 200 cars that were built at Longbridge and prepared for the Japanese market in 1995.  The cars were specified with all factory options.  Due to a change in Japanese emission legislation during exporting, the cars were unable to meet requirements without modification which rendered the process uneconomical.  All cars were repatriated and registered to Rover in Dudley DVLA office under the suffix ****FDH after considerable delays due to administration and re-entry laws in 1998.  The cars were either sold to Rover employees or the Rover dealer network at a discount.  (Source: Rover Coupe Owners Club,  FDH – The Real Story)

EQUIPMENT
T-bar glass roof with removable panels and holdall, tinted glass, side intrusion door beams, boot mounted spoiler, front foglamps, driver’s airbag, rake-adjustable sports steering wheel,  lumber support, electric front windows with ‘one-shot down’ driver’s window, electric heated door mirrors, boot and fuel filler remote release, infa-red remote central locking, perimetric and volumetric alarm, digital clock, tachometer, lamps-on buzzer, 50/50 split folding rear seat, cassette storage.  Factory Options; Pearlescent paint, air conditioning, leather trim, driver’s seat height adjustment.

EXTERIOR
It is quite likely that this Rover 220 Turbo Coupe is the best in existence having covered an incredible 6,646 miles from new with one private owner.   Finished in optional and desirable Pearlescent Tahiti Blue, (Code JRJ), the original factory finish is simply incredible and representative of a virtually new car aside from some insignificant marks.  The Pearlescent paint, in the words of Rovers marketing, contains translucent mica particles to give the illusion of constantly changing shimmering colour, which in the sunlight is entirely true, beautiful.  All body colour trim items, rubbers, Rover Triplex glass and light fittings are perfectly preserved and commensurate with such a low mileage and garaged from new example.  Underside inspection will delight originality seekers with even factory stickers that have survived attached to the shock absorbers!  The titanium coated T-Bar glass roof panels can be neatly stored in the original bag when not in use.  Sinuous sporting lines and almost perfect.

INTERIOR
An atmosphere of sporting luxury is creating with this flagship model.  The contoured seats with lumber and optional height adjustment are upholstered in unmarked full Ash Grey leather, (Code LNF).  All carpeting has been protected by genuine ‘Rover Coupe’ inscribed velour mats and the Burr Walnut adorning the curved fascia is rich in colour having never been exposed to direct sunlight.  All controls, gauges and warning lamps are operational.  The bright door sill tread strips are unmarked and all door shuts are spotless. This incredible survivor displays its very low mileage with complete pride.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The phenomenal 200bhp T-Series engine is a double overhead camshaft 16-valve design with an optimised induction system, modified cam timing and revised exhaust delivering 0-60mph acceleration in only 6.2 seconds and a top speed of 150mph.  Regular maintenance and two cambelt changes, the last one in March 2019, will ensure optimal performance.  The engine bay is factory standard and correct in every way and spotlessly clean.  The 5-speed manual transmission is positive and the high torque is controlled by the fitment of Torsen torque sensing traction control system fitted as standard on the 220 Turbo.  Wonderful.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The unique 15” 6-spoke Turbo alloy wheels are pristine and shod in the factory Dunlop SP Sport 2000 195/55 ZR15 tyres with ample tread and no cracks.  The spare remains unused and the brace and jack are wrapped still wrapped in clear film never opened!  Diagonally split and dual-circuit servo assisted anti-lock disc brakes, ventilated up-front, offer assured straight line stopping power.

HISTORY FILE
Unique not only because this is a FDH registered car, (see model history), but also because of the incredibly low 6,646 miles covered with just one owner.  Registered new on the 3rd August 1998 by the Rover Group Ltd of Bickenhill, this car was subsequently sold to Mr Steve Jones through Rover Main Agents, Lex Rover of Chelmsford.  Mr Jones, a Rover owner for many years arrived in his 820Si at the dealership to buy the new Rover 75 and was disappointed to learn the car was still not in the showroom and launch was a few months away.  Alas, his disappointment was short lived when he clapped eyes on this stunning Tahiti Blue 220 Turbo Coupe and a purchase was duly made!  Being the proud custodian and business owner of SC Autos, this car has been carefully stored and maintained from new.  In 2005 ownership was transferred to his business for insurance purposes.  Virtually every MOT from the first to the current is neatly filed to warrant the mileage and all handbooks, spare keys and documentation is included within the original Rover wallet. A sales brochure, the FDH Real Story Article and other FDH information is included.   It really does not get much better.

HISTORY FILE
This incredibly low mileage example was registered new on the 2nd March 2004 by supplying Rover Main Dealer, Reg Vardy Plc in Stockton. The first and only owner, Mr Alfred Green, ordered the car in Impression S specification as well as Wedgwood Blue metallic paint, a factory cost option. With zero previous owners on the V5 registration documents, this genuine one owner example is ready for its second owner after Mr Green made the difficult decision to cease driving due to advancing years. There are six stamped entries in the service book from the supplying dealer and specialist Rovertec, the most recent in March 2018 at 9,280 miles. A further history file contains invoices and previous MOT certificates as well as MOT records to fully verify the incredibly low mileage.
