Factory Options; Remote control drivers door mirror, tinted glass.

EXTERIOR
This legendary and genuine Capri 3.0S finished Ford Strato Silver (code V6) has been created in homage to the iconic Capri’s featured in ITV’s much-vaunted Series, ‘The Professionals’. Needing little introduction to the seasoned blue oval enthusiast, the cars themselves were considered more a star of the show than hard man CI5 agent William Bodie and his sidekick Ray Doyle (Martin Shaw). The paintwork boasts a bright uniform finish with only minimal imperfections detectable upon close scrutiny. The bumpers, black louvred grille and trims sections are in perfect order indicating that the urge to drive the car through a carefully placed wall of boxes has been avoided. The bodywork lines are all straight and the panel fit and shut gaps are excellent. This instantly recognisable example is guaranteed to please the avid Ford fan wanting a solid and very presentable genuine 3.0S.

INTERIOR
This iconic models interior is distinguished by seats fully trimmed in the Black Carla fabric (code A1) with Black fabric surrounds. The upholstery is spotlessly clean and free from wear as is the matching deep pile carpeting. The three spoke leather sports steering wheel remains in excellent order, and all controls and gauges in the six pod dash are fully functional. The push button ford radio is operational although the original analogue quartz clock is disconnected. The soft feel dashboard is perfect and free from cracks and the rear package tray is pin straight and free from cut outs. The perforated headlining is clean, tight and free from discolouration. This fantastic 1970’s interior remains exactly true to Ford’s intentions, wonderfully nostalgic!

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
With a choice of three engines this model is fitted with the range-topping Essex 3000 V6 with twin choke carburettor. A power output of 138bhp at 5000rpm enables a top speed of 124mph and a 0-60 dash in 8.0 seconds. Contrary to the common manual conversion, the standard automatic choke set up has been retained. Raising the bonnet reveals a very clean and presentable engine compartment. An intoxicating burble through the stainless steel exhaust system is very addictive! The 4-speed manual gearbox with synchromesh to all forward gears operates as it should and the correct sports gearshift knob is the finishing touch.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The wheels have been upgraded to RS design 7 x 13in alloys which are in pristine order. Branded 205/60 R13 tyres are matching all round and have masses of tread remaining. The clean boot area houses the original jack secured with the rubber strap. The hydraulic dual line vacuum servo-assisted braking system was uprated by Ford at the factory for all 3000 V6 models to achieve prompt and steady stopping capabilities.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new on 20th May 1981, this later 3.0S was at the top of the Capri range before its replacement arrived in the form of the 2.8 Injection model. The 3.0S remains the ultimate desirable Capri and increasingly is the car you always promised yourself due to its rarity. The previous keeper and Ford collector, Mr M Williamson, purchased the car in 2013 with the aim to create his dream car, a Professionals recreation. Watching SAS trooper Bodie being played in heroic style by the late Lewis Collins wheel spinning the Capri wearing the fake registration ‘UOO 303T’ is exactly what is possible with this car!
A large history file contains a huge collection of receipts and invoices from specialist suppliers and restoration firms. Previous MOT certificates and original book packs are also included. Likely to appeal to a Ford aficionado who is keen to enjoy the show scene with this prime example. KGF Classic Cars however, cannot accept responsibility for any implications arising from a probable car chase involving a MkII Granada!

INTERIOR

However, subtle suggestions towards the robust commercial vehicle range are in the form of wipe clean vinyl door cards and sparse equipment levels to include a coin box in place of the digital clock and an analogue clock instead of the tachometer. This top spec Standard model featured comforts above the entry level Popular, namely Chequers cloth trim (code 2P), grey velour carpeting and a Ford Keycode 2015 radio cassette. The engine bay is spotless and displays original wing stamps, plates and service stickers. The 5-speed gearbox is light and easy to use and the clutch is positive.

Pleasing attributes such as the original pressed steel number plates and the dealership rear screen sticker remain. An extraordinary example and very special.

INTERIOR
Correct to manufacturer specification, the interior of this RS1600 is a credit to the dedication and resolve of the former keepers to stay true to Ford AVO’s vision and keep the car away from the often inevitable fate of modification. Ford Escort Series 1 RS Turbo

SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

An original unmolested Ford Escort Series 1 RS Turbo Custom with just 17,769 miles.

MODEL HISTORY
The Series 1 Escort RS Turbo was carefully developed by Ford’s talented Special Vehicle Engineering team whose other resounding successes include the Capri 2.8 Injection and the XR3. The RS Turbo was designed to set new standards in Group N and Group A events, and was quickly dubbed the car to beat. Ford initially planned to build 5,000 RS Turbos, the minimum number required for homologation in Group A, however a total of 8,604 were built due to increased demand. The car was greeted with huge enthusiasm and was only sold through official Rallye Sport dealers. A following that today has amassed into obsession for many a diehard Ford enthusiast.

EQUIPMENT
Colour coded bumpers with front over riders, laminated windscreen and all round safety glass, RS aerodynamic front and rear spoilers, RS Turbo decals, Ford spot lamps, remote control colour coded door mirrors, colour coded ‘Orion’ radiator grille, RS 3 spoke steering wheel, cigar lighter, rear ashtrays, front door stowage bins, 3-speed heater fan, coin box, radio cassette, trip recorder, tachometer, roof mounted digital clock. Factory specified Custom Pack includes: Electric windows, central locking, tilt/slide glass sunroof and opening rear quarter windows.

EXTERIOR

The correct Carello headlamps, spot lights and the factory glass remain including the Ford inscribed front screen. The offside front wing was repainted after the previous keeper dropped a power tool on it and at the same time the front slam panel and grille were refreshed. The original decals are intact aside from a small section on the driver’s side where the film edge has come away and the rubbers are ever so slightly dry. This truly genuine example proudly displays it’s unmolested and unrestored credentials including visible factory underseal and the often missing foam pads to the underside of the four wheel arch extensions still attached along with the original PDI sticker on the rear wishbone! The underside having never been refurbished displays an honest age and mileage related film of debris. A few small dings are barely visible and gravel rash is evident on the rear wheel arch extensions. An extraordinary opportunity to own a slice of Ford RS history.

INTERIOR
The interior of this RS Turbo is perfect and pristine. Finished in original two-tone grey Monza crushed velour (code HC), the seat pads and bolsters are very firm and show no sign of wear. The door cards and carpets are in remarkable showroom fresh condition, the latter having been protected from new by Ford rubber floor mats. The RS 3 spoke steering wheel still has all the delicate grains and veins associated only with genuine low mileage examples as doe the gear knob. All interior equipment is functional but the fuel gauge is temperamental and the trim pieces intact, including the immaculate rear parcel shelf with the genuine Ford fitted speakers inset. The correct Ford SRT32P stereo and cassette storage holder remains in the car. A preserved Ford RS interior guaranteed to marvel and delight onlookers.

Diagonally split hydraulic circuit brakes with 240mm ventilated discs up front and 203.2mm rear drums bring the car to an assuring halt.
