A few tiny paint blemishes and touched in scratches are visible but quite insignificant, and there is a miniscule ding to the nearside rear door. ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The 1119cc HCS CFi four-cylinder engine featuring electronic single point injection and automatic choke set up produces 49bhp at 5200rpm. A top speed of 89mph and 0-60mph is achieved in a sedate, license preserving 17.7 seconds. Complete mechanical simplicity and the distinctive Ford push-rod engine note are guaranteed, but the common intrusive tappet sound is welcomely absent in this super-low mileage example. The spotlessly clean engine bay has original plates, stickers and and fragile paper service labels. The factory panels still display Ford emblem stampings clearly visible. The 5-speed manual gearbox feels fantastic with crisp gear changes.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The factory steel wheels of size 5 x 13in are in excellent order with the original LX full wheel covers virtually unmarked. Four brand new premium brand Uniroyal RainExpert 3 155/70 R13 tyres were fitted in May 2026 and covering zero miles have replaced the original Michelin MXT items! The spare is the factory original and remains unused. The servo-assisted diagonally split brakes with discs up front and drums at the rear pull the car up quickly and safely with a full overhaul in May 2026.

HISTORY FILE
This wonderful example was registered new on the 1st June 1995 by Ford Main Dealers, Bristol Street Motors in Bromley. The car was registered as a demonstrator before being sold in November 1995 to Mrs Goodered, who has owned the car ever since. After over 30 years of ownership, the car is being offered for sale due to the owner giving up driving, and the second private owner will benefit from this ultra-low mileage example. A major service and brake overhaul in May 2026 was carried out using genuine Ford parts where possible and a full inspection has also been carried out with various consumables renewed including four brand new premium tyres.

The history file contains the Ford document wallet with all handbooks, service book, security code cards and point of sale literature. HISTORY
The Raleigh Chopper, although an icon of the 1970’s and where it saw the majority of its phenomenal success, was first launched in 1969 by the Raleigh Bicycle Company in Nottingham, England. The bikes design was influenced by dragsters, chopped motorcycles and beach buggies and it quickly became a cultural icon, especially among young people. Throughout the evolution of the Chopper from the Mark 1 to the Mark 4, the essence of the design has changed very little, but certain safety flaws linked to the Mark 1 and 2 had to be overcome following negative press in the 1970’s where it was in some cases labelled as a dangerous toy! These included the tendency for the bike to perform involuntary ‘wheelies’ particularly when giving a friend a ‘backie’ on the long padded high-back seat and also the groin catching T-Bar frame mounted gear lever. Thankfully after an absence of over 20 years saw the Mark 3 relaunch with a more conventional seat to deter the offering of ‘backies’ and re-siting of the gear lever to the handlebar, a more personal equipment friendly location! Original Choppers have gained a highly collectable status and soaring prices with the limited-edition releases now extremely sought after.

RALEIGH CHOPPER BLACK AND GOLD LIMITED EDITION
Released in 2015 to pay homage to the golden age of British motor racing, the Raleigh Chopper Black and Gold Limited Edition launch consisted of only 400 units. The livery consists of Sleek Black and Gold leaf detailing, a tribute to the iconic Lotus Formula 1 motor racing John Player Special cars. Known as ‘Players’ or ‘JPS’, the instantly recognisable livery and gold pinstriping has also been applied to other British legends such as the JPS Ford Capri. Supplied by a limited number of Raleigh stockists, these bikes are highly collectable.

DESCRIPTION
Still in its original factory box, this official UK rare Raleigh Chopper Black and Gold Limited Edition is a desirable item for Chopper fans all over the world. The bike has never been built remaining packaged, unassembled and with all protective wrapping intact. The box has been opened and has incurred some damage.

FUNCTIONALITY
Modern specification separates this Chopper from its earlier Mark 1 and 2 brethren with 6-speed Shimano Revoshift derailleur gears controlled by a grip shift, aluminium V-brakes
and aluminium rims.

Celebrating the famous Chopper phenomenon that singlehandedly saved a struggling Raleigh in the 1970’s, this Black and Gold Limited Edition is one of only 400 made and is highly collectable.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION

A full service, water pump and cambelt was carried out in April 2026 and the 5-speed manual gearbox is light and precise.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The instantly recognisable RS Turbo alloy wheels are virtually immaculate with clearly defined part number and size stamping often lost upon heavy refurbishment. Four matching premium Pirelli Drago 195/50 R15 tyres are fitted and the spare is the original factory fitted Goodyear Eagle NCT50 items. This fast Ford icon stops as well as it goes with the ABS braking system designed in conjunction with Lucas Girling working perfectly also having had new discs fitted in April 2026.

This amazing limited edition ‘Look’ has covered just 28,152 miles from new and remains totally original, preserved and unspoilt. Finished in factory optional Topaz Blue metallic, (Code M0LZ), the paint finish is in fantastic order with a bright uniform finish. The ‘Look’ badges and decals are as new and all trim sections are fully intact. The underside is remarkably well preserved thanks to garage storage from new. Factory Peugeot Sekurit glass, supplying dealership rear number plate and rear screen sticker underline the time warp credentials. Rarely found in such prime condition.

INTERIOR
Fitted with the special edition ‘Look’ interior featuring Blue Stratos Tweed seat trim with matching door inserts, it is clear to see this low mileage example has truly been cherished. Terms such as ‘time warp’ are sometimes used loosely, however they are entirely justified in this instance. The upholstery displays no visible wear, and all interior trim is showroom fresh. The fascia is pristine and all controls and gauges operate seamlessly including the original Clarion stereo. Specially tailored ‘Look’ carpet mats are fitted too. The boot area is simply immaculate, with the painted under mat area as new and the rear seat belt reel housings even have factory stickers still attached. Reminiscent of a 1990 Peugeot Talbot showroom car, this very special 205 is hugely nostalgic.

The engine bay is very clean and displays all factory stickers and plates as well as 205 inner wing stamps, PDI markings and painted colour code. Even the factory hand applied rocker cover sign-off is still clearly visible! The 4-speed gearbox is light with a positive clutch action.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The original steel wheels still wear the factory full width wheel trims which are in very good order. Five replacement quality brand 155/70 R13 tyres have covered approximately 1,000 miles other than the spare which is unused. Split circuit servo-assisted brakes incorporating front discs and rear drums offer assured stopping power.

HISTORY FILE
Supplied by Peugeot Main Dealers, Carrs of Castleford, on the 2nd August 1990, the first lady owner cherished her pride and joy for 25 years. KGF Classic Cars purchased the car directly from the owner’s family in 2019 and are now delighted to see it back again. All the handbooks contained in the black A5 folder remain with the car including the service book with ten stamped entries, the most recent being a service and cambelt change in March 2026. Two sets of Peugeot keys, dealer keyring and the original key code tags are present as is a special edition 205 Look brochure. A neatly organised file of invoices and history documents is also included. Named Car Magazine’s ‘Car of the Decade’ in 1990, the year this car was made, the Peugeot 205 was regarded as the benchmark for superminis for many years and this exemplary example is a fitting tribute to this accolade. An unmissable opportunity for the collector, avid Peugeot enthusiast, or indeed perfect as a starter classic. Definitely worth a ‘Look!’
