EXTERIOR
An established name for almost 50 years, Bilbo’s are highly sought after and regarded for the highest standard in campervan and motorhome conversions. This 2002 Volkswagen T4 was converted from new to the Bilbo’s Celeste specification and is finished in Volkswagen Nebio Blue Metallic, (Code LL5Y). The paintwork presents very well throughout and there is no significant body damage, scuffs or scrapes worthy of mention. Small markings and stone chips relative to the age and mileage are visible but certainly do not spoil this lovely looking vehicle. All body panels are fully intact and remarkably straight, and the underside is structurally superb with zero evidence of repair work. The low-lie side elevating roof raises and lower easily and when raised you can see that it is very clean, fully intact and watertight. All glass, rubbers and trim are well preserved, and a nice touch is the original Bilbo’s number plate surround and boot badge still in place and well as all Celeste decals and stripes.
INTERIOR
The interior of this high specification conversion is entirely original and preserved in amazing condition. The cab area is beautifully clean, and the carpeting remains fitted. The captain chairs each with two adjustable armrests are clean and only the driver’s seat has some faint bobbling to the material, utterly insignificant. The door cards are fully intact but show some light discoloration and a tiny hole to the driver’s side. The fascia is in superb condition and all equipment is fully functioning including the ice-cold air conditioning, original stereo and perfect LCD displays. The habitation area is immaculate and fully equipped as per the above specification. The triple rear seat with three seat belts effortlessly folds into a bed for two adults and there is an option to purchase a bed space board in the roof to sleep up to four persons. All tailored curtains are present, clean and with every popper fixing fully intact and the removal cab area curtains even remain in the Bilbo’s storage bag when not in use! Gas and electric systems and equipment are fully operational and the most recent of many habitation checks professionally carried out was in March 2026 for complete peace of mind. Highest levels of craftsmanship are assured as this is not a kit supplied conversion but rather a full specification professional interior, ready for camping trips and fun days out and as featured in VW’s very own sales brochure when new.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Fitted with more powerful 101bhp five-cylinder AUF 2.5TDi engine and with automatic transmission. The vehicle performs impeccably and there is plenty of power even when fully laden for your camping trip! The engine bay is very clean with factory build labels and stickers still present. The automatic transmission is effortless and perfect for relaxed long-distance cruising.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The factory fitted steel wheels wear the immaculate correct Caravelle wheel trims and van rated 205/65 R15C tyres show plenty of tread. The braking system is well maintained and performs perfectly.
HISTORY FILE
Registered on the 8th July 2002, this short-wheelbase example was converted from new by renowned Bilbo’s Campervans, an established name for almost 50 years and highly regarded for their clever design and impeccable craftsmanship. The vehicle has covered just 83,778 miles from new and comes with a colossal history file to evidence the high level of servicing and maintenance. The previous owners of ten years purchased this T4 Celeste direct from Bilbo’s Campervans themselves, such was the originality and impeccable history. Mr and Mrs Tolley have been nothing short of fastidious in their upkeep of the vehicle, as have previous keepers, and as such there are two service books. The original book having ran out of space, there are 24 service stamps in total, the most recent being a full service in December 2025. The cambelt and water pump were changed at 77,555 miles. Furthermore, regular habitation checks have been carried out, most recently in March 2026 with zero failure points and even zero recommendations! The vehicle handbooks and spare keys are present as well as instruction manuals for all camping equipment. Even the Bilbo’s Celeste handbooks, brochure and price lists have been kept!
The vehicle is being offered for sale on a part exchange to clear basis as it falls ever so slightly short of the impeccable KGF Classic Cars standard, namely due to the mileage and evidence of some remedial paintwork rectifications.
