EXTERIOR
The eye-catching styling of the Mk1 Ford Cortina still holds universal appeal today and was Ford of Britain’s global success story. When Jeremy Clarkson reviews the Ford Cortina Genesis in The Grand Tour, this actual car is the first chapter in what is easily the most important book in British motoring history! (Click Here). Finished in period Purbeck Grey, (Code CH), this ordinary family car is anything but ordinary. The name Cortina is proudly mounted on the bonnet and in an elegant script style on the boot should you need reminding. The underside is beautifully detailed for the show circuit. INTERIOR
Simple, elegant and immaculately presented in all respects. The PVC upholstery to the deep foamed filled seats finished in Ravenna Red, (Code B413), and are unmarked along with the door cards and plastic washable headlining. Being a Standard Cortina Saloon Fleet Model, the flooring has a basic rubber covering, no door operated courtesy lights, only one sun visor and no opening front quarter windows. To further emphasise the simplicity of this rare model, the water temperature gauge has a pictorial gear location diagram! (Now replaced with a period correct Cortina water gauge but included in the sale). The ornate deep dished safety steering wheel is unmarked and circular cowled instruments all function along with the optional heater and demister. Delightful in all areas.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Prepare to be amazed at the splendour of this immaculate show winning example with the 1200cc engine sparkling clean and producing 54bhp. Simple proven and robust mechanics make this a tinkerers dream and the original vehicle identification plate is still attached. The four-speed gearbox is light, precise and an absolute joy.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Simple pressed steel wheels with unmarked chrome hubcaps with a mirror finish are shod in matching branded 155/80 R13 tyres with ample tread including the spare correctly recessed in the rear nearside wing. Front disc brakes and drums to the rear do a good job of stopping the vehicle.

HISTORY FILE
Once Britain’s best-selling car, the Cortina Saloon or Fleet Model was marketed by Ford as ‘offering outstanding performance with economy; the lowest cost car in its class.’ An ideal vehicle for everyday business or for the family man who wants maximum saloon-car space at minimum cost.’ Discovered languishing in a garage in 1986 by Graham Dobson, the delight that this 1966 Standard Cortina 2 Door had escaped the sporting Lotus conversion was immense. Correctly identified by the BA71 chassis number, the Mk1 Ford Cortina Owners Club have established this as one of just 34 UK Fleet Models known to exist. INTERIOR
The typically opulent Rover interior of this magnificent Montego offers amazing space and the contoured seats are superbly comfortable with hard and soft foams finished in Zenith, (Code LCG). The equipment and clear instrumentation are all operational including the
R562 electronic stereo and there is no damage, cracks or lift to the colour-keyed facia. The moulded headlining is perfect as are the wood veneered inserts with no UV fading, again thanks to careful garage storage from new. The LXi specification includes many luxury features such as electric sunroof, front windows and door mirrors and ingenious quirky features such as the 60/40 split folding rear seat doubling as a mobile office for the executive on the go! A huge 18.4 cu.ft boot is pristine and lifting the boot carpet reveals factory untouched perfection. Probably as close to a new Montego as you could ever achieve?

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The 4-cylinder transverse OHC 1994cc engine with a three-way controlled catalyst produces 103bhp thanks to programmed ignition with electronic fuel injection. A top speed of 112mph and 0-60mph in 9.8 secs is quoted. The unit is eager, quiet and comes with a close-ratio transmission on the fuel-injected 2 litre petrol models. Progress through the gears is smooth and responsive and the exhibitionist will marvel how stunningly original under the bonnet is.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Steel wheels measuring 14inch are graced with unmarked full width wheel trims with 185/65 R14 Uniroyal RainExpert 5 tyres fitted in March 2024 covering less than 30 miles! The servo-assisted, diagonal split dual circuit system with ventilated front disc brakes and drums to the rear, offer assured straight line stopping power with all maintenance up to date.

HISTORY FILE
An amazing history befitting of the car itself. Registered by the Rover Group, Company Vehicle Sales, Canley Road, Coventry on the 27th May 1993. A national advert in the Daily Express from the Hartwell Group was spotted by Mr David Geere for Montego 2.0 LXi’s for £7,999, the press cutting still in the history file. Mr Geere being a big fan of the Montego and wanted to replace his 1986 2.0 HL that had covered 60,000 miles at the time. Knowing that Montego production was soon to end, he called the garage and spoke to the Car Sales Representative, Ted Noble, and posted a £100 cheque deposit along with a typed letter to secure a duo-tone Flame Red example with 24 miles from new. A copy of this letter is also included in the history file. This pre-registered example was transferred to Mr Geere on the 9th October 1993 and he remained the only owner until 2024! After collection he continued to use his ‘old’ Montego expecting it to go wrong, but it never did! As the years rolled by his ‘new’ Montego was rarely needed and became a showpiece used only for classic car shows and national events. Such is his dedication for the marque and after parting with this car in 2024, he kept the 1986 2.0 HL that was intended to be replaced all along! KGF Classic Cars sold this example in 2024 having purchased it directly from Mr Geere and we are now delighted to have it back again ready for the next owner wanting probably the best Montego in existence.

Included in the history file is all the original dealer correspondence including the new vehicle purchase invoice, previous MOT certificates and invoices, all handbooks, manuals and two keys with dealer fobs. In March 2024 the vehicle had a major service to include all fluids, filters and a cambelt and a further service has just been carried out in September 2026. Probably the finest unrestored example with strong provenance and unrepeatable mileage.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Simplicity, ease of maintenance and fantastic parts availability were part of what made the Mustang so unbelievably successful and this mantra has never changed. The correct T Code identification 200ci 3.3 litre inline 6-cylinder engine emits a wonderful exhaust note through the custom-made twin exhaust system with a multi-branch exhaust. With improved breathing, upgraded two barrel carburettor and DUI electronic ignition, expect the 120bhp quoted to be improved. The engine bay is very clean with factory labels and stickers as well as original Fomoco components and panel stampings. Fitted as a factory option is the Cruise-O-Matic 3-speed C4 automatic transmission operated by a floor mounted T-bar handle which operates exactly as it should.

Fitted by Pilgrim Motorsports at huge expense in 2021 to the sum of £6,247 along with power steering, a dual-line power front disc conversion was fitted to provide safe and effective stopping power.

HISTORY FILE
This stunning 1966 1st Gen Ford Mustang Convertible left the New Jersey Assembly Plant on January 12th and was discovered by Pilgrim Motorsports in 2019 in the ‘dry state’ Sierra Nevada in California. On a mission to find the best unrestored Mustangs to export to the UK, this example was successfully acquired after much negotiation and shipped to the UK. Photographs of this prime example in its homeland exist before being UK registered on the 1st August 2019 and promptly sold to car collector Peter Shillitoe. After Pilgrim Motorsports initial registration, he remains the only UK owner, utterly cherishing the car and returning to them for expensive upgrades such power steering and power brakes. Invoices reveal in the first three years alone, he spent almost £9,500 on desirable upgrades. The owner has kindly provided handwritten notes and instructions, included original spare parts and even a tailor made car cover with a cutout for the radio aerial! A vehicle handbook, A4 file with documents, spare keys, original workshop manuals and even the Californian number plates are included. The bonnet bulge, Ghia badging and large 3.0 boot decal remind onlookers this is no lower model Capri and both supplying dealer branded number plates and rear screen sticker are fitted. The glass is security etched with the vehicle registration number. This regular show-going example will delight any enthusiast seeking a top-of-the-range for luxury Mk3 Capri with power and good looks found in abundance!

INTERIOR
Sumptuous interior design synonymous with Ghia and luxury motoring is absolutely stunning. The contoured seats with built-in head restraints are trimmed in Tan Verona fabric upholstery, (Code J 1). The seats are spotlessly clean and the material is largely taught with no rips or thinning. Coloured-keyed deep shag pile carpet and door cards are unmarked and the Grey soft feel instrument surround with a full arrangement of working gauges has no fade, lift or dash cracking. The headlining is fully intact and very clean. The original Ford stereo cassette remains fitted and operates, although will require repair as the tuning dial is faulty and the cassette player makes everything sound like The Chipmunks/Bee Gees. All non-protruding switches, dials and quartz clock operate perfectly. The spotless boot area has a straight and uncut parcel shelf, Ford jack and spare wheel. An opulent classic Ford interior.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The most powerful engine available at the time was the 3000cc V6 engine as fitted to this genuine 3.0L Ghia. Power output is quoted at 138bhp at 5000rpm to offer a top speed of 121mph and 0-60 in 8.2 seconds. The engine bay is very well presented with the chassis stamp to the inner wing clearly visible and unique 3.0 strengthening points present. Standard equipment on the 3.0L Ghia is the C3 automatic gearbox, however a desirable four-speed manual was offered as a special order option but very rarely chosen. This example is immensely rare having left the factory as a manual, begging the question of why not just order a cheaper 3.0S and save £1000 at the time?! Perhaps the comfort of the Ghia was appealing as was the driver feel of the manual.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Cast aluminium sports road wheels are unmarked and premium Uniroyal 185/70 VR13 tyres were fitted in August 2026. The hydraulic dual-line servo assisted brakes with front discs and rear drums bring the car up straight and true and the car is still fitted with the correct 2 port Girling master cylinder.

HISTORY FILE
A car with an endearing history. This early Mk3 was built in September 1978 at the Cologne Plant in West Germany and registered new on 23rd February 1979 at Alexanders Ford Cars in Edinburgh. In March 1981, the present owner, Mr Hill, purchased the car from BCA (British Car Auctions) in Measham whereby the original receipt in the history file reveals the price paid of £2,925. Mr Hill recalls that he kept the car for around six months at which point “something else took my fancy” and the car was sold to a work colleague who cherished the car daily until around 1990. At this point the car was offered back to Mr Hill in “somewhat used condition”. The decision was made to buy the car back with the intention of “doing it up” because a 3.0 Ghia with manual gearbox and in Signal Orange was more than rare, it was almost unique! Family and work commitments prevailed, and the car was stored for around 20 years before restoration began. A professional restoration began in the summer of 2010 and is documented in the history file. Mr Hill, the sporadic custodian of over 45 years, has now made the heart-wrenching decision to sell the car in order to concentrate on other retirement interests rather than classic car shows! This incredibly early BMW Mini Cooper boasts the kudos of being a member of the Mini Y Register qualifying vehicles covering Y plate and 51 plate cars built in 2001. Finished in factory original Liquid Yellow, (Code 902), and with a warranted 3,234 miles from new, the paintwork presents beautifully throughout with a stunning uniform shine and all panels are pin straight. Supplying dealer branded number plates and rear screen sticker are fitted and the underside and apertures are very clean. Two replaceable window trims have minor damage. Mini Y Register experts will note at least one of the features of a very early build car being the number plate light lens with black painted diffuser, soon replaced by ribbed plastic. INTERIOR
A very high specification example boasts the most expensive Chili Pack as well as many other factory options including the very rare electric panoramic glass sunroof! Having covered just 3,234 miles from new, the interior space is beautifully preserved. The expensive Profile black leather seats are perfect in every respect other than a few minor marks to the driver bolster. All trim and interior furnishings are pristine including the headlining and Brilliant Silver interior styling. The carpets and velour mats have been protected by the rare rubber gearmats from new. All switchgear and high use touch points such as the steering wheel and pedals have the pleasing lack of wear which is soon lost after a few thousand miles. Close scrutineers will notice nothing other than a small slit to the handbrake gaiter and both LCD displays have a few failed pixels. ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
At the time of launch, the all new R50 Mini was available as the Mini One or the Mini Cooper, the latter drawing its name from the iconic original Mini variant. This Mini Cooper has the more powerful 113bhp version of the 1598cc petrol engine. The all-new Mini went on sale on the 7th July 2001 and 2001 built models incorporating Y plate and 51 plate cars are highly sought after. Confirmed by the Mini Y Register as being built on the 7th November 2001, this stunning Cooper is the 54th UK automatic example produced. Ordered to an incredibly high specification in the desirable colour of Liquid Yellow, this car has covered an incredibly low 3,234 miles from new! The original black leatherette interior is spotless with all seats and matching door cards fully intact and remarkably free from wear. The factory fitted padded steering wheel with Wolfsburg crest is pristine having been protected from new with a perforated leatherette steering wheel cover. All controls and switchgear are fully functioning and the factory sticker to the inner glovebox lid remains. The headlining is clean, fully intact with no tears and shows no discolouration to the edges. The front luggage compartment still has the factory plate and stickers and houses the spare wheel still with the pneumatic washer system but now bypassed in favour of a more effective electric washer pump. A Blaupunkt Denver 412 DAB stereo with Bluetooth has been discreetly installed. A superb place to sit and enjoy air-cooled motoring at its very best!

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The matching numbers standard air-cooled rear mounted engine produces 52bhp from its 1285cc displacement enabling a top speed of 78mph with the unmistakable Beetle engine note delightfully pronounced but completely unobtrusive. The engine bay is amazingly clean with engine number clearly visible. Even the now somewhat primitive Volkswagen diagnostics plug remains fitted! The fully synchronized 4-speed gearbox works perfectly and is easy to use once familiarised. The car runs and performs brilliantly and was last serviced in August 2026.

The original pressed steel wheels are in excellent condition and dressed in chrome half wheel covers which are original items rather than inferior aftermarket fitment and show only very light tarnishing. Five expensive replacement Continental Contact 165/80 R15 tyres have covered less than 1000 miles apart from the spare which has never been used. The dual circuit drums front and rear operate perfectly with new rear brake shoes fitted in August 2026 to deliver strong stopping power.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new on the 1st March 1972, the supplying Volkswagen Main Dealer was Kingsthorpe Garage in Northampton, a photo of which is in the history file. This incredible VW Beetle 1300 Deluxe has covered a warranted 35,980 miles from new, remarkably with only three long-term owners! First owner, Mr Leech, cherished the car for 28 years and neatly filed and numbered every MOT certificate and vehicle check sheet until selling the car in February 2000 with 30,667 miles. The second owner Mr O’Driscoll, a wealthy car collector, would go on to own the car for a further 20 years until the final VW enthusiast and custodian purchased the car in 2020 with only 33,850 miles. The mileage now is fully warranted with MOT certificates and records in the history file dating back to the first in 1975 and there is also a hand written log of every MOT and the mileage at the date of test. The road version of the rally winner and available only at your Ford Rallye Sport dealer was the draw of these special cars built at the Advanced Vehicle Operations (AVO) division. Finished in one of the three launch colours, Sunset Red (Code J), this genuine early Mexico is stunning with incredible detailing extending to the underside for those wishing to enter the show circuit of this once proven concours winner. Vital components such as the rear stone deflector held in by eight bolts in the boot floor and strengthened AVO workmanship are laid bare for all to see. A few minor blemishes do not detract from this Concours d’Elegance winner. The chrome, glass and badges are in immaculate order with the front screen still being the genuine Ford Triplex laminated item with accompanying sticker cleaned by Trico Speedblade wipers. The lens units are FoMoCo and the contrasting Mexico stickers are in perfect condition cementing the iconic rally look.

INTERIOR
High grade Black PVC upholstery, (Code AA), as fitted to ‘L’ specification early cars are simply incredible along with the rest of the interior. The padded facia has no cracks or rips and the correct matt-black finish to the beautiful instrument panel to eliminate dazzle is unmarked. Fitted with the factory 140mph speedometer and 8,000rpm rev counter, all gauges, controls and switches are fully operational. The optional black looped-pile carpet is spotlessly clean along with the desirable Springalex dished steering wheel. The boot area continues the showroom experience with the early Mexico’s battery-in-boot setup meaning the spare wheel is mounted to the boot floor. The nine-gallon fuel tank finished in factory matt grey and even the jack and wheel brace are within the original fawn muslin bag and black light protectors undamaged. Spectacular.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Spectators will drool in amazement under the bonnet of this desirable early Escort Mexico as it is so clean. The four cylinder 1600 GT crossflow unit with the 711M block is quoted in the sales brochure at 86bhp to go up to a ton with little effort and hit sixty in under 11 seconds. Correct specification from the AC oval metal airbox finished in silver to the tubular four-into-one exhaust system exactly replicated in stainless steel will please scrutineers. The original VIN plate and AVO ID plate remain fixed to the slam panel. The close ratio all-synchromesh 4-speed gearbox with heavy-duty three-rail shift ensures positive changes.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Fitted with the correct pressed steel wheels with the cooling slots measuring 5.5x13in and immaculate chrome hubcaps. The tyres are matching premium Dunlop SP6 175/70 R13 tyres with ample tread. The original remote servo-assistance brakes powered by the early Girling Powerstop AHV 550 Mk2B grip the front discs and rear drums.

HISTORY FILE
Built at Fords Advanced Vehicle Operations factory in Aveley in October 1971, this vehicle has led the most incredible pampered existence with absolute enthusiasts. Highly regarded and registered with the both the AVO Owners Club and RS Owners Club, this example has won many prestigious awards during the 1980’s and 1990’s and is both an AVO National Day winner and RSOC National Day winner. Photos in the history file of the car at many events with trophies are a testament to the outstanding condition still witnessed today some 38 years later! A feature in Fast Ford magazine dated August 1990 about long-term custodian, Les Harris, who has known the car from new when delivered to Ford RS Dealers, Whites of Taunton where he worked as a Ford mechanic. He recalls fellow mechanic and workshop foreman, Walter Miller, buying the car new and always wanted to be the next owner knowing it had always been serviced by Walter at the Ford main dealer. Les took the car to a concours level and after winning the Concours d ’Elegance at Longleat Ford Spectacular it was used to illustrate Graham Robson’s classic Ford feature. Factory Sigla glass and Carello head/driving lamps and Ford light fittings remain fitted throughout. An exceptionally well cared for example, preserved as Ford intended.

INTERIOR
A fun and practical option of retro soft-top motoring with space for five and a generous boot! The sports seats trimmed with unique Special Edition blue Daytona fabric trim, (Code SF), are spotlessly clean and show a distinct lack of wear to be expected of such a low mileage example. Door card shrinkage is very common for the model, yet thankfully there virtually no evidence on this example and the often-scratched inner door handles are pristine. The dashboard and switchgear are in superb order and all functions and controls operate including the standard Ford radio/cassette with electric aerial and the roof mounted digital clock. A clean and utterly unspoilt interior complete with a set of genuine rubber Ford ‘waffle’ mats.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
A delightfully crisp, responsive and free-revving 1.6 OHC (CVH) engine with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection produces 105bhp to achieve 0-60mph in 9.7 seconds and a top speed of 115mph. The engine bay is show-worthy clean, and the real wow factor is the complete originality seen throughout the rest of the car. Factory stickers and labels remain intact and bright as do both the VIN and body plates. Date and Ford oval stamps as well as factory seam sealer assure you these are the original front wings. The car performs brilliantly and the replacement yet standard exhaust system hasn’t lost the characteristic rasp! The five-speed gearbox is light and precise and aids the enthusiastic driving XR owners are known for.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The Special Edition came with alloy wheels as standard, and these unrestored rims are in excellent condition with a few tiny markings, hardly worthy of mention. Brand new matching Dunlop Sport Blue Response 185/65 R14 tyres were fitted in August 2026 to all four road wheels and originality seekers will be delighted to see the spare wheel that has never been used still wearing the factory Dunlop SP tyre still with coloured banding and nobbles intact! Clipped inside the spare wheel is the unused jack and brace with original soft square protection pads. The diagonally split dual-line servo assisted brakes stop the car straight and quickly.

HISTORY FILE
Produced in October 1987 and registered new on the 25th March 1988 by Ford Main Dealer, Bristol Street Motors in Birmingham, the car was purchased by Mr Launchbury who purchased through his business, Promanco Ltd. After nine months he registered the car to himself and in 1993 it was sold to his brother-in-law, Mr Lambert, who has owned the car ever since. Utterly fanatical about the car, Mr Lambert personalised the number plates with his initials, and it was kept strictly in an integral heated garage. The luxury of being a leisure car only meant it was only used in dry conditions and these cosseting ownership traits are wholly evident in the cars condition. Only no due to ill-health is the car being offered for sale.

In July 2026 the car received a major service using genuine Ford parts where possible and the cambelt and water pump was also renewed at this point.
