HISTORY FILE
This 1970 model year Volkswagen Karmann Ghia was manufactured in January 1970 at the Karmann Coachworks in Osnabruck, Germany, where originally artisans made coaches for European nobility. This prime example was imported from Florida to the UK in August 2021 by a seasoned Volkswagen collector, William Ward. His VW collection incorporates the most iconic and immaculate air-cooled models amassed over decades. Frustrated by the overpriced and poorly restored Type 14 examples in the UK, he eventually managed to source a car directly from the US owner and ex Florida State Prosecutor/Vietnam Veteran, Mr Garringer. He too was a gentleman heavily involved in classic Volkswagen circles and the two formed a mutual bond to enable the car to arrive safely in the UK. A huge file of paperwork from renowned Volkswagen and Karmann Ghia specific specialists show the level of expense required in order to create such a beautifully restored example. An original handbook and period sales brochure is included. Fully UK registered and amongst the finest Karmann Ghia’s available, this example will delight in every respect.

Incredibly just three owners and 53,972 miles from new, this very special Dormobile was a factory conversion from new rather than one which was carried out retrospectively. The first owner, a Mr R.C. Cain Esq, purchased the vehicle and paid £1,401 as evidenced by the original order form, sales invoice and payment docket which remarkably have all been kept! Mr Cain loved the Dormobile for 30 years with strict dry storage and dry day usage was paramount and there is even a detailed maintenance log spanning from 1979 to 2000. On recommendation from a friend and fellow Volkswagen fanatic, the second owner approached Mr Cain in 2001 and agreed a deal to buy the vehicle and found that it was every bit as original and incredible as he as been promised. In the hands of the second owner for 19 years, there has been just one change of keeper since.

A vehicle history file makes for wonderful perusal and includes the service record, handbook and very rare VW diagnostic coupon booklet! A Volkswagen Camper and Commercial magazine feature from 2014 featuring this Dormobile not only covers six pages but is also even the centre fold poster! HISTORY FILE
Supplied new on 1st August 1990 by Volkswagen Main Dealers, Wolfe Garage of Kent, this superb Richard Holdsworth conversion has been cherished from new with a genuine 35,633 miles and huge supporting history file. Mr Dancy being the first keeper, a new vehicle order form and sales invoice outlines a purchase price of £16,288.33 and the original PDI sheet from Wolfe Garage remains. Throughout long-term family ownership, the vehicle was passed to his wife and then daughter who owned it until 2015. KGF Classic Cars at this point purchased the vehicle from her directly whereby it was sold to a loyal customer and serial car collector who has owned it ever since. Affectionately given the name Doris by his family, there have been leisure trips to the seaside but having now acquired three miniature Sausage Dogs, the decision to let Doris go rather than subject her to the new pack of dogs seems a considerate one! There is even a letter in the history file from the current owner to the next prospective custodian!

The colossal history file is quite simply incredible and thorough perusal would consume hours! All Volkswagen handbooks and guides are in the original V.A.G plastic wallet and the service record displays stamped entries up to August 2021. Absolutely all equipment instructions and guides have been kept to ensure working knowledge of every facility can be upheld. A huge collection of invoices and receipts are accompanied by every MOT certificate from three years old to fully warrant the mileage. Original Richard Holdsworth sales brochures and awning supplement complete the history file for this very special example only with the spare key and even many old tax discs! This example is guaranteed to attract appreciation from enthusiasts and collectors wanting the best on offer.
