Finished in factory optional Carnelian Red Metallic, (Code E 534), the paintwork is in outstanding condition. The paint boasts a beautiful lustrous shine and uniform finish, and all factory panels are pin straight with uniform gaps. The sumptuous seats are spotless with no visible wear, sagging or damage and all trim pieces are perfect. The dashboard and cockpit style instrument panel are as new, and all high specification functions and controls operate seamlessly, including the original Philips stereo cassette. Prominent natural veins to the steering wheel and gear knob are an obvious trait of such a low mileage example. Incredibly even the original ventilation position card remains affixed to the dashboard! The immaculate boot floor has the factory insulating panels and the original jack, wheel brace and genuine Opel toolkit. With extensive sound insulation a standard feature of the Senator, the occupants will enjoy whisper quiet super-saloon comfort and indulgence.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new by Vauxhall Main Dealers, Vincents of Ely, on the 1st August 1986, this exceptional example has covered just 44,297 miles with three former owners. The previous keeper, Mr Stephen Pink, has owned the car since July 2012 and used it for shows and dry day outings whilst keeping it strictly garaged at all other times. With his forthcoming wedding fast approaching, the difficult decision has been made to part with the car and KGF Classic Cars are delighted to be able to enjoy this outstanding example and find the next appreciative owner.

The history file contains the original handbook, receipts and invoices as well as some previous MOT certificates, including the latest carried out in July 2018 with no advisories. An oil service has just been carried out leaving nothing other than driving enjoyment on the list to do! There are two sets of keys and an original Vauxhall Senator sales brochure. Based on the Carlton, the Senator was a lengthened and expensive luxury option, a rare car even in the 1980’s. This fortunate survivor has been preserved as one of the best remaining examples and will delight the next owner in every respect.

Vauxhall Cavalier Mk2 SRi

SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

A virtually extinct Vauxhall Cavalier Mk2 SRi with just 37,394 miles and two owners.

EQUIPMENT
Laminated windscreen, Bronze tint shadeband, safety crumple zones, rigid passenger safety cell, deep front air spoiler, rear spoiler, burst-proof locks, halogen headlamps, twin rear fog lamps, electric door mirrors, Recaro rally style front seats, upholstered front seat headrests, folding rear seat, rear wash/wipe, Phillips push button stereo cassette, quartz clock, cigar lighter, centre console. SRi special equipment; 2-tone horn, Anthracite coloured mouldings, body-striping, 3-spoke sports steering wheel, carpeted load area, additional sound insulation. Dealer options; Front driving lamps, mud flaps, tailored rubber floor mats.

EXTERIOR
This incredibly rare Vauxhall Cavalier Mk2 SRi was once a common sight on UK roads but now represents a hugely nostalgic piece of sporting Vauxhall history. This early SRi on an A prefix in Hatchback guise is finished in White Gold/Anthracite (code E421 & 303), a two tone paint scheme unique to the SRi model. The paintwork presents very well with a bright polished shine, however, areas of paint rectification undertaken by the previous keeper although not unsightly are not to professional standards. All factory panels are straight apart from one which has a small ding and inspection of the underside reveals the structural integrity. Factory stampings are clearly visible along the inner boot shuts. All glass, lights, badges and trim sections are in fantastic order and this totally unmolested example even retains its supplying dealer plates and rear screen sticker! Hugely sentimental to many individuals who owned examples in the 1980’s.

INTERIOR
A clean, functional and retro Vauxhall interior is sure to delight fans of the Griffin badged cars! The original Highland Check cloth trim in beige colour scheme is incredible and every inch commensurate with the cars low mileage credentials. The upholstery is clean with only very minimal wear to the sporting Recaro driver’s seat. The matching colour scheme door cards and headlining are pristine and the carpets are beautifully preserved having been protected from new by tailored Vauxhall rubber floor mats. All functions and controls operate perfectly including the Phillips push button mono stereo cassette. The dashboard and internal trim pieces are exceptional with no cracks or damage whatsoever and the rear parcel shelf is free from speaker cut outs. Prominent natural veins to the steering wheel and gearknob are an obvious trait of such a low mileage example. A true time warp interior complete with period scent, worthy of any show stand.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
This top of the range for performance SRi model features the powerful 1800i OHC four cylinder engine developing 115bhp at 5800rpm and 111.4lb/ft of torque at 4800rpm. A top speed of 114.2mph and 0-60 in 9.4 seconds affirmed this Cavalier as a real performance contender within its sector. The engine bay is clean, unaltered and displays factory plates and stickers. The five speed all syncromesh gearbox with 8.5in diameter mechanical clutch feels light, precise and tight.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Five factory standard 5½ J sports alloy wheels are hugely retro and the black infill sections remain correct. Whilst presentable, the finish to the wheels is average owing to amateur attempts at refurbishment. Branded 195/60 R14 low profile tyres are of the correct size and have plenty of tread remaining. Diagonally split dual circuit brakes with servo assistance feature 9.3in ventilated front discs and 7.9in rear drums to bring the car to a steady and assured halt.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new by Vauxhall Main Dealers Charles Warner Ltd in Lincoln on the 8th June 1984 to first keeper, Mr Francis Harsley, who kept the car for over 25 years until the second and only other keeper, Mr Armstrong, purchased the vehicle to add to his classic car collection. A mere 37,394 miles has been covered and the original service booklet contains several Vauxhall Main Dealer stamped entries up to 1997 whereby the first keeper ceased driving due to old age. This service work was carried out predominantly by the supplying dealer. A folder of previous MOT certificates and invoices cover the period with the second keeper after the car was recommissioned immediately on purchase in 2009 when the car had covered 36,429 miles. With little use since, it would be prudent to complete a full service if regular use is intended. The original Vauxhall plastic A5 wallet contains all book packs, radio guides and dealership literature. A very real and formidable Sierra contender throughout the 1980’s, the Mk2 Cavalier particularly in SRi guise has survived in far fewer numbers and now represents a very special and rare modern classic car.

Twells & Sons Ltd of Lincoln on 30th August 1983, a new car sales invoice confirms a purchase price of £4,395.62 including options of automatic transmission (£378.00) and mudflaps (£21.00).    With just three former keepers, this remarkable example clearly displays the hallmarks of a cherished car.  A very comprehensive history file illustrates the exceptional upkeep this car has enjoyed with the original service booklet showing thirteen stamps and two cambelt changes, the most recent at 31,941 miles.  A further colossal collection of receipts and invoices are chronologically filed and accompanied by virtually every MOT certificate from new to fully validate the 35,429 miles covered.  Completing the history file is all the original handbooks, operating guides, radio instructions and dealership literature.

This wonderfully nostalgic Vauxhall Cavalier Mk3, a once common sight on UK roads and instantly familiar to many, is now seldom seen and this example has been preserved impeccably.  Finished in factory original and optional Lagoon Blue Pearlescent, (Code 26L), the paintwork boasts a vibrant polished shine and uniform finish with only tiny markings visible.  All factory panels are damage free and the superb underside is free from anything other than factory applied Waxoyl to allow easy structural inspection.  The registration etched glass, GM Carello headlights, badges and trim sections are virtually as new and supplying Vauxhall dealer number plates and rear screen sticker remain.  The condition of this unmolested and cherished Cavalier is entirely commensurate with the remarkably low 19,779 miles covered.

INTERIOR
A clean, functional and period Vauxhall interior is sure to delight fans of the Griffin badged cars!  The original Epsom Cloth trim in Grey, (Code 821), remains unworn with absolutely no damage whatsoever.  The matching colour keyed door cards and headlining are pristine, and the fleece carpets are beautifully preserved.  All functions and controls operate perfectly and the dashboard and associated switchgear are as new.  Prominent natural veins to the steering wheel are an obvious trait of such a low mileage example.  The immaculate boot floor has the factory insulating panels and the original polystyrene moulding holds the jack and wheel brace.  The factory fitted Grundig SC303 radio cassette remains fitted and even has the usually lost small leather pouch for the detachable code display panel!  A comfortable modern classic and just as it left the Vauxhall showroom in 1992.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
This Cavalier L features the 1598cc OHC four cylinder engine with Pieburg 2E3 twin barrel carburettor and automatic choke developing 82bhp at 5200rpm and 93lb/ft of torque at 3800rpm.  This example having covered just 19,779 miles drives perfectly and the quiet engine is a delight.  The engine bay is clean, unaltered and displays factory panel stampings, plates and stickers as well as genuine GM service items.  The factory optional four speed automatic transmission with both sport and winter modes operates flawlessly.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The original 5½ J x 13 wheels are shod in brand new correct 1.6L specification hubcaps which were removed from new for preservation purposes by the original owner whilst a second set remained on the car!  The 165 SR 13 tyres have good tread remaining and the original Michelin MX tyre remains fitted and unused to the spare wheel.  Diagonally split dual circuit brakes with direct-action servo assistance feature 9.3in front discs and 7.9in rear drums to bring the car to a steady and assured halt.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new by Vauxhall Main Dealers WASS of Leeds on the 1st August 1992, this exceptional example has covered just 19,779 miles within the same family from new.  First keeper, Mr Alderson, bought the car new and upon his passing in 1994 ownership transferred to his wife Muriel Alderson.  Unable to part with her husband’s car, it was put into long term dry storage until being gifted in 2014 to her nephew, Mr Geoffrey Peacock.  After recommissioning the car, Mr Peacock used it for dry weather outings, shows and occasional commuting.  The devotion and enthusiasm shown to the car is clear to see and this cherished example truly deserves the accolade time warp.  Recent maintenance work includes an oil service, brake overhaul and the original GM rear silencer has just been replaced with a brand new standard stock item.

The original handbook and a collection of previous MOT certificates and invoices are in the history folder, and two sets of keys including the main torch key with dealer fob are included.  This beautifully preserved and unmolested Cavalier is a credit to its former keepers and offers capable, practical and comfortable retro motoring, a guaranteed hit at shows.

HISTORY FILE
Supplied new by Vauxhall agents, Skurray’s Ltd of Swindon, this rare-surviving pre-facelift example was first registered on the 1st December 1967.  A new car order form and order confirmation letter in the history file is made out to first owner to Mrs M Knapp, and the price new was £814, 6S and 12D including £83, 11S and 8D for the optional automatic gearbox!  Incredibly, even the original factory build sheet has been kept confirming the vehicle identification, body type, model, options and colour trim and codes!  The huge and simply amazing history file even includes the original service booklet in the nearside inner footwell holder and dealer supplied Skurray’s tax disc holder as well as insurance certificates from when the car was brand new in 1967.  In 1987 the car was put into dry storage having covered just 10,744 miles where it stayed for 22 years.  In 2009 the car was discovered where it’s amazing originality and preserved state were quickly realised.  Recommissioning work along with sympathetic paintwork rectification was carried out, all documented in the comprehensive history file.  Furthermore, there is a huge collection of invoices, MOT’s certificates and even a maintenance log kept by previous owners.  All handbooks, guides and even original sales brochures have been kept.

In May 2017 the car was auctioned by Historics at Brooklands where it sold for £4,928 including fees to a Mr Nigel Shepherd, an avid classic car enthusiast.  Mr Shepherd, an existing customer of KGF Classic Cars, immediately spent a further £1,063.48 on a full tune-up and fuel system overhaul with supporting invoice in the history file.  The decision to part with the Viva occurred only when KGF Classic Cars listed a low mileage MGTF, a car Mr Shepherd had been searching for some time.  The next lucky custodian will certainly benefit and become the proud owner of one of the best HB Viva’s in existence.
