Rover 200 BRM LE

FOR SALE
A Rover 200 BRM LE Press car with only 21,225 miles and three owners.

MODEL HISTORY
British Racing Motors, BRM, had been involved with the Rover Company Limited as far back as 1962 and is the legendary marque that took Graham Hill and Jackie Stewart to countless Grand Prix victories. Officially announced on the 9th September 1997 the Rover 200 BRM LE was significantly different both visually and mechanically to the 200Vi on which it was based. Featuring a taught retuned chassis with suspension set 20mm below standard, stiffened road springs and different damper settings along with revised gear ratios and a Torsen torque sensing differential. Excluding the six Special Designation Vehicles Press cars, just 797 UK examples were produced.

S959WOM / R200BRM HISTORY
The example offered here is one of six pre-production right-hand-drive vehicles known as Special Designation Vehicles (SDVs) and is of significant historical importance. Each of the six cars were registered from S959-S964WOM, although this was not the order they were built. The cars were built between the 20-27th July 1998 with this example being the last made on the 27th July. Still built at Longbridge assembly line but unlike future production cars, these SDVs would undergo further finishing work and enhanced quality control measures to make sure they were as perfect as possible for launch events and the demanding journalists! Everything from extra sound insulation to a thicker top roll to the elasticated door storage pockets! S959WOM was used for road tests under this registration number until 24th February 1999 when R200BRM was transferred onto it while still being owned by the Rover Group. It appeared in many publications including Car (November 1998), Autocar 18th November 1998 and as R200BRM in Autocar (11th August 1999) as part of a group test. Copies of the Rover Press records also reveal which journalists and publications were loaned S959WOM/R200BRM and include Steven Sutcliffe, Andrew Frankel and Top Gear Presenter, Chris Harris to name a few. Of the six Press cars, five are known to survive with this example being the lowest mileage.

EQUIPMENT
BRM orange airdam, wire mesh grille, sparkle silver door mirrors, bodyside mouldings, bumper inserts, tailgate lift handle and door handles. Enamel BRM badges, green tinted windscreen, high mounted brake light, electric windows, sunroof and door mirrors, remote central locking, perimetric and volumetric alarm system. Machined turned aluminium door handles, heater controls, handbrake button, gearknob and gaiter bezel. Red leather steering wheel, door pulls, console cover, handbrake grip and gaiter. Stereo radio/cassette (R770). Factory Options: Passenger airbag, Rover carpet mats.

EXTERIOR
Finished in heritage Brooklands Green, (Code HYF), the paint has a wonderful gloss shine and is a colour evocative of an historical era and of the BRM marque with the Orange snout airdam. A few touched in chips and marks do not detract from the impressive appearance and this rare car has been continually garaged since October 1999 after its stardom in the world media. The underside is beautifully preserved and wears its low 21,225 miles well with no structural corrosion or repairs, so otherwise typical of this model. Dealer supplied number plates, tax disc holder and Rover service sticker are all still attached. Quality enamel BRM emblems adorns the front wings of this exclusive performance hot hatch.

INTERIOR
A stunning interior developed by interior designer, Tony Hunter, (who also went on to develop the interior of the R50 Mini), is finished in quilted Red leather, (Code CEN). Styling cues from the 60’s racing era and traditional craftmanship is echoed throughout with twin-needle top stitching, machined aluminium components and spotless Red cut pile carpets. Engine turned aluminium is used for the facia insert finish and all controls, switches and gauges work seamlessly with a quality feel, perhaps thanks to the SDV’s revisions compared to regular production cars? The boot area is clean with a unused factory fitted spare and full tool kit. Standard, immaculate and bespoke.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Allied to the acclaimed Rover 200Vi is the 1.8 litre 4-cylinder VVC engine developing 143bhp at 6750rpm and 174Nm or torque at 4000rpm. 0-60mph is reached in just 7.9 seconds and top speed is 127mph. This car accelerates faster than many of its mainstream hot hatch contemporaries with an immaculate engine bay displaying factory plates, stickers, labels and even coloured PDI dabs! As a precaution only, the vehicle has a recently fitted upgraded multi layered head gasket. The 200 BRM features revised gear ratios which combined with a Torsen differential and chassis improvements, offers a thrilling drive.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Unique 16 inch six-spoke 200 BRM Sports alloy wheels with prized now obsolete BRM centre caps are immaculate with no kerb damage. Matching Dunlop Sport Maxx 205/45 R16 tyres were fitted in 2021 with masses of tread. This Limited Edition model comes with standard anti-lock brakes with discs to all four wheels, ventilated to the front and revisions to the master cylinder for improved brake feel and response.

HISTORY FILE
Fascinating history file. One of only six early pre-production Press cars and a Special Designation Vehicle registered and owned by the Rover Group, Company Vehicle Control, Longbridge on the 4th September 1998. In their ownership until the 9th October 1999 before being sold by Rover main dealers, Cheshunt Motor Company Ltd, to a Mr Clift as revealed on the Used Car purchase invoice for £12,155 when the car had covered 14,000 miles. Purchased for his wife, they part exchanged a Rover 100 GTA and the car was used until 2002 before being garaged. Sold in December 2020 by Mr Clift to an active BRM.co.uk Member it was fully recommissioned and now has a warranted mileage of just 21,225. Suppled with two huge history files, Press releases, magazines featuring the car, handbooks, maintenance invoices and MOT certificates, this must be one of the best, lowest mileage and historically important Rover 200 BRM LE’s in existence.

Yamaha TZR125

FOR SALE
A matching numbers Yamaha TZR125 presented in collector quality condition.

EQUIPMENT
DELTABOX frame fabricated from high-quality steel pressings, Monocross suspension with box-section high-tensile steel swinging arm, De Carbon-type shock absorber, racer-style clip-on handlebars, rectangular headlight, windscreen, twin rear view mirrors, 12 litre fuel tank with flush-fitting aircraft-type cap, square tube passenger grab rail, cast alloy triple-spoke wheels, YEIS (Yamaha Energy Induction System) boost chamber, YPVS (Yamaha Power Valve System), liquid cooling, speedometer, tachometer, water temperature gauge, ignition switch incorporating park light, turn signal switch, headlight switch, neutral indicator, horn, steering lock, rear footrests, locking helmet holder. Factory Options: Full fairing kit.

EXTERIOR
Following on from the traditions of Yamaha’s famous RD models but taking on groundbreaking technology, the TZR125 was yet another world-beating supersports lightweight machine. This exceptional specimen is finished in the red and white colour scheme that the bike and the optional full fairing was made with. Many components of this example are unrestored with the exception of the stunning paintwork to the tank and fairings that was entrusted to renowned Pauls Custom Paintwork of West Kingsdown who specialises in ‘all paint no stickers’ finishing. The white is done in Pearl finish so, at a glance, it appears standard but in sunlight it looks amazing with a pearl fleck. Originality is seen extensively with the original olive drab green finish to fittings as well as factory switchgear, hand grips and foot peg rubbers. The windscreen shows some faint stress crazing to the top section. Light patina to the unrestored components is fully acceptable and the bike showcases the perfect mix of pleasing originality and flawless paintwork. The seat is professionally retrimmed in the correct blue covering, underneath which is the original Yamaha toolkit. This is a very special bike.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Powered by a liquid cooled 2 stroke motor, this TZR125 is basically half of Yamaha’s sensational TZR250 which is itself based directly on the World Championship-winning TZ road racers. Featuring the Mikuni VM26SS carburettor as well as technological advancements at the time such Yamaha Power Valve System, (YPVS) and Yamaha Energy Induction System, (YEIS). This being a French European model, it benefits from being unrestricted with full use of the fully operational YPV System. The engine number is stamped to the left side of the engine casing and matches that of the clearly visible frame stock stamp and VIN plate to confirm this as a matching numbers machine. The original Yamaha 2RL-14711 exhaust remains fitted. The 6-speed transmission is precise and the factory fitted strengthened clutch and wider final chain drive enables it to cope with the extra power.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The cast alloy triple-spoke wheels retain the original unrestored red finish with prominent cast stampings and are shod in premium Michelin PilotStreet 80/90-16 front and 100/90-18 rear tyres. The TZR features a hydraulic disc front brake with slotted rotor to aid cooling and a correct gold finish opposed-piston caliper. The rear brake incorporates a weatherproof drum integral with the wheel. A great combination to generate maximum braking force.

HISTORY FILE
This amazing Yamaha TZR125 is a French European example that was brought into the UK in 2018 believed to be a one owner bike. The bike is UK registered on an age-related D prefix and fully roadworthy with valid MOT until May 2026. A Dating Certificate from Paul Dawkins, Motorcycle Historian and Dating Officer at the UK based Aircooled RD Club, confirms the bike was manufactured in June 1987 and that the colour and component specification is correct for the model year. Purchased and UK registered in 2019 and owned by the same collector ever since, the bike has been on display in his home showroom alongside many other 1980’s motorcycles, cars and retro memorabilia including an unused Sinclair C5! It has been well maintained with light regular use and performs fabulously, especially being an unrestricted full power YPVS model! The owner’s testimonial is also included with the history file. Supplied with its handbook, UK registration documents, previous MOT certificates and brochure, it is ready for the next appreciative enthusiast.

This two owner car has covered a fully verified 27,486 miles from new and boasts total originality and outstanding condition. The factory applied Mistral Blue paintwork, (Code 8 4), is virtually flawless and even close scrutiny fails to reveal any imperfections worthy of mention. Fastidiously maintained from new and having covered such low mileage, the car performs beautifully and is a joy to drive. The five-speed gearbox is perfect.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The original and unique Verona model wheel trims remain fitted to the steel wheels and are in perfect condition. Replacement matching brand 195/60 R15 tyres have masses of tread, and the pristine boot area houses the unused spare and perfect plywood wheel cover disc. Diagonally split dual line brakes with servo assistance bring the car up straight and steady.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new on 4th October 1996 by Henlys Ford of Farnborough, this spectacular Special Edition Mondeo Verona has covered a warranted 27,486 miles from new with just two owners. The amazing history file begins with the new vehicle order form and subsequent sales invoice made out to first owner, Mr Page, whereby the purchase price was £12,793.93. All payment receipts and vehicle point of sale documents have been kept. Mr Page was a newly retired engineer, and as such, the Mondeo was a retirement gift from Mr and Mrs Page to themselves and a photograph outside their home with the car on handover day is a wonderful memento in the history file. A large file of service and maintenance invoices as well as all MOT certificates dating back to the first in 1999 is accompanied by a highly detailed maintenance log dating from when the car was new up to 2017. The log was kept as Mr Page, being a retired engineer, carried out much of the vehicle upkeep himself and wanted this to support the service history. The car was owned by Mr Page until September 2022 and there has been just one owner since. Mr Blake purchased the car for nostalgia reasons as his father owned Mondeo’s in the 1990’s and he and his father wanted to recreate journeys they took at the time. The fastidious upkeep has continued with the second owner who now has decided to sell the car with the upcoming birth of his first child and him feeling he will not have the time to give the car the care it deserves.

Absolutely all servicing is fully up to date and since April 2025 alone, the car has had cambelt and water pump, gearbox oil, brake fluid, power steering fluid, new exhaust, brake overhaul and engine service. Completing the history file is the full book packs, four Ford keys including the red master and dealer fobs, and an original Mondeo Verona range sales brochure. KGF Classic Cars are privileged to offer this exceptional example that is a true credit to its two owners from new.

Sinclair C5

SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

A revolutionary Sinclair C5 unused on display with boxed owner’s pack.

MODEL HISTORY
Launched on the 10th January 1985 this electric single seater was a completely new form of personal transport and a world first for Sir Clive Sinclair. Claims of 1000 miles for the price of a gallon of petrol, a range of up to 40 miles with an optional second battery and ability to be driven by anybody over 14 without a licence or road tax all for highly competitive £399 inc VAT, seamed enticing. A special launch show at Alexandra Pavilion on the weekend of the 12-13th January 1985 was poorly timed with cold wet British weather highlighting its limitations of a battery that ran down quickly, a maximum speed of only 15 miles per hour and lack of weather proofing. Combined with safety concerns of being dwarfed by vehicles on the road, poor reviews followed and within three months of the launch, production had been slashed by 90%. Sales never picked up despite Sinclair’s optimistic forecasts and production ceased by the end of 1985. Out of 14,000 C5s made, only 5,000 were sold before its manufacturer, Sinclair Vehicles, went into receivership.

Thousands of unsold C5s were purchased by investors and sold for hugely inflated prices, as much as £6,000. Enthusiasts have established owner’s clubs and newer batteries have now extended the range. No matter if you think of the C5 as a curious oddity and national flop or a serious alternative in personal transport, one thing is for sure, they are great fun and a cult classic!

EQUIPMENT
Aerodynamic injection moulded polypropylene body, specially coated steel backbone chassis designed by Lotus Cars, lamps, padded steering bar, all-round reflectors, key operated ignition switch, LED microprocessor display units, built-in boot, power activated push switch, powerful front and rear brakes, range and performance improving pedals. Boxed Owners Pack containing: Charger, battery fixing kit, tool kit.

EXTERIOR
Designed by Sinclair, styled by Guy Desbarats, (a graduate of the Royal College of Art), and developed and tested by Lotus Cars, the C5 could run at the speed of an Olympic sprinter, or so claimed the press release! The distinctive and smartly styled polypropylene body is in remarkable condition having never been ridden in 40 years! All plastic lamp lens covers are immaculate with the rear unit still having the quality assurance inspection sticker attached! The seating area is virtually unmarked with the serial number sticker still attached to the frame. The high-intensity reflective tape produced by 3M has come unstuck in small areas but a replacement OEM roll is included. The lockable white boot area, (only found on later models), is clean with the Hoover service information sticker still attached and the underside is beautifully preserved.

MOTOR & TRANSMISSION
The C5’s 250W 12v motor is one of the few non-British components, supplied by the Italian firm, Ploymotor, a subsidiary of Philips. Specifically designed and lightweight, the maximum power-assisted speed is 15 mph. The drive to the Torrington made tubular step-swaged rear axle is taken through an epicyclic reduction gearbox which incorporates glass reinforced nylon gears. Drive transfer is by a toothed belt to one wheel. This example has never been ridden and is being sold for display purposes only.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The wheels were specially designed for the Sinclair C5, moulded from glass-reinforced nylon. The front is 12.5-inch diameter and the rears 16-inch shod in correct Sinclair rubber tyres. Powerful front and rear brakes are operated by cycle type brake levers engineered to avoid locking of the front to ensure straight-line braking in all conditions.

HISTORY FILE
Such a controversial vehicle that it has now become a cult classic! This particular example was built in October 1985 at Hoover’s Merthyr Tydfil facility towards the end of C5 production. It was owned by the late Charles Snarski, a well-known expert in C5 circles and resided in his personal collection before being purchased by one further keeper in 2019. Only ever on display, it remains unused to this day still with its boxed and unopened C5 owners pack! Supplied with two keys and the key code tag along with wonderful period artifacts such as the Sinclair Vehicles Press Information bulletin, a copy of the January 1985 C5 driver Souvenir Edition magazine and the January 19th Motor Magazine where the C5 is road tested with the headline, ELECTRIC SHOCKER! A new power in personal transport and a true 1980’s icon, instantly recognisable and guaranteed to raise a smile whenever it is seen!

The dashboard and switchgear are in superb order and all functions and controls operate including the standard Ford 2005 radio/cassette with electric aerial and the roof mounted digital clock. A clean and unspoilt interior.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
A delightfully crisp, responsive and free-revving 1.6 OHC (CVH) engine features electronic fuel injection with Ford’s own EEC IV engine management system (as fitted to later cars replacing the Bosch system). This increased power by 3bhp to give 108bhp to achieve an improved top speed of 116mph and 0-60mph in 9.7 seconds. The engine bay presentation is excellent with original factory stickers, labels and plates intact even on the slam panel! The car performs brilliantly and an expensive stainless steel exhaust replicating the original to give the characteristic rasp! HISTORY FILE
Date of registration of this late 90 Spec example was the 4th July 1991 by Ford Main Dealer, Central Motor Company (Leicester) Ltd. Ownership of the car has been traced right back and the previous owner bought the car in 2016, the lady keeper prior to him having owned the car for around 20 years. The history file is humongous and dates back to when the car was new with masses of paperwork including MOT records dating back to the first in 1994. There are also service book records since the first service carried out in late 1991. Part of the impressive vehicle history is that the car was featured with the previous owner in the April 2018 issue of ClassicFord magazine whereby a prime example was required for a four-page ‘Buying Tips’ article. This very car was used in the feature and several copies of the magazine are in the folder. All handbooks are included as well as both seats of keys with alarm fobs and a Ford range brochure from 1990.

In November 2025, the car was serviced and the cambelt and water pump were replaced. Now offered for sale due to the fastidious owner downsizing his collection of classic 1980’s cars, motorbikes and iconic memorabilia such as an unused Sinclair C5! Look no further for a beautifully cherished unspoilt example ready to use and impress at classic car shows and retro outings!

HISTORY FILE
Registered new on 13th August 2007 by Ford Main Dealer, Ringways Motor Group in Doncaster, the car was purchased by a Miss Flavell who is the first and only owner. The car was purchased for use in retirement and as is common, the usage was regular albeit minimal, and it was kept in the garage when not in use. Only upon the owner’s passing in 2025 has the car become available and subsequently was offered to KGF Classic Cars. Recognising the first generation KA’s fast diminishing on our roads and the scarce availability of pristine low mileage cars, we are delighted to present this car ready for its second appreciate owner. A service, full inspection and MOT have been carried out in November 2025 and all maintenance is up to date. Both keys and handbook pack are present along with a paperwork file and original sales brochure for the 2007 model year Ka. In addition, a Ford Main Dealer service and maintenance log allows you to track the verified mileage before Miss Flavell’s local garage, Woodman Service Station Limited (that was incorporated in 1965 and now closed in 2024), maintained the car.

Debate over the pronunciation of the name Ka has continued since launch and whether it is to be said with a long or short “a”, or with the letters pronounced separately. Even Ford’s confused press office has used all three, but the official Ford stance is with a short “a”! Whichever way you may wish to say it, the first examples are now approaching 30 years old and the humble Ford Ka represents a superb value entry into classic car ownership, even more so with this incredible one-owner example with just 9,854 miles from new! Be quick before everyone catches on!
