Renault Alpine GTA V6 Turbo

SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

A rare Renault Alpine GTA V6 Turbo with full history and just 35,634 miles.

MODEL HISTORY
The Alpine legacy dates back to 1955 when French garage owner Jean Rédélé started to produce his own sports cars based on the rear engine Renault 4CV. With continual rally success, by 1968 Alpine had been allocated the whole Renault competition budget and opened a new assembly plant in Dieppe. Iconic cars including the A108, A110, A310 and GTA/A610 were hand built with huge assembly costs. In the UK, Chrysler owned the name Alpine, so here it was called the Renault GTA. It was one of the most aerodynamic cars of its time with a record-breaking drag coefficient, (0.28 or 0.30 for the Turbo with bigger tyres and scoops). It was lighter and quicker than its rivals due to extensive use of polyester plastics yet despite this, only 341 UK RHD cars were made.

EQUIPMENT
Light weight laminated polyester bodyshell, integrated bumpers, steel backbone chassis, 45° V6 rear mounted turbo charged engine, integrated front and rear spoilers, electrically assisted release door mechanism, electric front windows, electric door mirrors, central door locking, lockable glove compartment, door pockets, centre console storage, two rear seats, 4 X 20 watts per channel stereo system, graphic equaliser, six speakers, map reading light, leather-bound sports steering wheel, sports seats, turbo boost gauge, driver digital info centre. Factory Options: Full Leather interior, ABS.

EXTERIOR
This high performance and rare sports car is finished in the optional Supergloss Red, (Code 075), and looks incredible being one of the most aerodynamic cars of its time with a drag coefficient Cd of just 0.30. The layered polyester bodyshell is both lightweight and rigid and in the 2.5-litre Turbo guise, as in this example, outran Lotus Esprits and Porsche 911s. At the request of the first owner the decals were not fitted, snobbery perhaps at the mention of Renault, and these original decals are included in the history file. Both front headlights are crystal clear have tiny debris collected but fortunately no stress fractures to both front and rear units and all factory trim is intact. Garaged stored, pampered and within the same family until 2020!

INTERIOR
Wide opening doors reveal a driver orientated sports cockpit with the expensive and desirable full black leather option adding luxury. Supportive and comfortable seats which present beautifully give the driver at-a-glance information and a clear view the many clusters of dials, gauges and displays. Factory correct features such as the Phillips Hi-Fi System remain fitted and even the fragile electrically assisted door release mechanism operates! The grey thick pile carpets have been protected by tailored mats with some discolouration in the passenger footwell and the door cards and headlining are fully intact. A very exclusive and rare environment.

The engine develops 200bhp at 5750rpm and is capable of a top speed of 155mph and a 0.62mph sprint of 7.0 seconds. An A4 file of neatly organised documents from the Renault Pre-Delivery Inspection sheet to the latest invoice in April 2025 from Specialists, Alpine Autos in Kent, along with numerous invoices and MOT certificates in between to warrant the mileage of just 35,634. Date of despatch to Mann Egerton Limited of St Albans was 19th June 1973 and the supplying dealer was nearby Broxbourne Motors Ltd in Hoddesdon. The heritage certificate confirms further details including factory options as well as the engine, body and chassis numbers all of which correlate with the vehicle. The car was registered on the 3rd August 1973 to first owner, Mr J.H.M Bent-Marshall, and new vehicle supplying documentation in the colossal history file is made out to him, as is the original Passport to Service booklet. When the car was just 10 months old, it was purchased by the second keeper, Mr Perry, who as shown on the sales invoice paid £1,595 less £445 for his 1971 Austin 1100! Mr Perry would go on to own the car for 36 years until 2010. In the early years the car was used regularly until he acquired a company car and the Triumph was semi-retired to weekend leisure use. In the late 1990’s, Mr Perry decided to have the car restored by very respected Triumph experts, Robsport International. In 2010, the car returned to Robsport to be sold to the third owner, Mr Tim Hurry, who had always longed for a Magenta TR6 having seen one in a showroom many years before and had been searching for the right car for a long time. Over 10 years during his ownership, the car has been on a number of European excursions and extensively shown, winning various Best in Show awards as well as being magazine featured several times. There has been just one further keeper.

The colossal history file is simply wonderful and dates back to the very early years including vast wads of invoices and MOT records and fully traceable ownership history which is very rare. All magazine features have been kept along with photo albums complete with trophies won, early point of sale documentation and the heritage certificate issued by the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust. Matching numbers, UK car, desirable Magenta colour, unmolested, fully traceable history, award-winning condition and ready for cross-continental road trips. There are very few TR6’s to rival this stunning example.

Registered new on 22nd July 2000 and supplied by Brincars Nissan of Cannock, this amazing Almera has covered just 14,238 miles from new with one private owner until February 2025. Mr West purchased the vehicle brand new whilst offering his 1993 Volkswagen Golf Ryder in part exchange against a total sale price of £12,149.00 as confirmed by the original sales invoice that has been kept. Used sparingly in retirement, the Nissan was always garaged and clearly cherished throughout 25 years of ownership whereby it was only upon his passing that the car was gifted to close friend and next-door neighbour who had helped him for many years. Incredibly, the car has always been serviced by the supplying Nissan main dealer. They recall the car and its owner fondly and kindly provided a digital log that reveals the car has been serviced ten times by them since 2011, the last in 2024. Both keys are present along with an original sales brochure.
