Rover Metro 1.3L Clubman

SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

An enthusiast pampered Rover Metro 1.3 L Clubman with just 21,320 miles.

EQUIPMENT
All steel unitary construction, laminated windscreen, twin door mirrors, locking fuel filler, two-tone moulded bumpers, colour coded grille, bodyside coachline and mouldings, tailgate tape, glass sunroof, styled halogen headlamps, twin rear fog lamps, front head restraints, colour coded front and rear seatbelts, colour keyed fascia and steering wheel, rear parcel shelf, floor mounted centre console, remote controlled driver’s door mirror, fascia mounted digital clock, heated rear window, rear wash/wipe, cigar lighter, radio cassette. Factory options; 4 Speed automatic gearbox. Dealer options; Genuine Rover luggage compartment organiser, mudflaps.

EXTERIOR
This unrestored example is without question one of the very best surviving Metro’s in existence. Finished in original Oyster Beige, (Code SMF), this enthusiast owned Metro L Clubman has covered a remarkable 21,320 miles from new and is preserved in exceptional condition. The paintwork boasts a wonderful polished shine and uniform finish, and all panels are pin straight. With many Metro’s having succumbed to the harshness of daily use and the elements in the 1980’s, it is a true delight to see original features such as factory spot welds to the rear arches and all decals being factory fitment. The supplying dealer fit number plates, tax disc holder and the ‘Metro Got Me Going’ rear screen sticker are all present! Only very close scrutiny will reveal light touched in markings, utterly insignificant and barely worthy of mention. The front and rear light clusters and rear fog lamps are factory fitment with the Austin logo to the lenses. This is a very special Metro.

INTERIOR
The Metro L Clubman was factory built to a high specification and trimmed to a typical Rover level of plush refinement. A testament to the incredible low mileage, the Zenith Fabric seats in the Mink colour scheme, (Code LNK), remain in pristine condition with no damage or wear whatsoever. The plump carpets have been protected by the original rubber Metro mats and even a second set of luxury Rover carpet mats! All interior trim is as new and could almost convince you that you are in a 1989 Austin Rover showroom! Low mileage indicators include prominent veins to the steering wheel and factory fresh controls and switchgear. All functions and controls operate as they should. The immaculate boot area has a rubber boot protector and the almost impossible to find genuine Rover luggage compartment organiser. Reminiscent of a far simpler motoring era, this now rare Metro is truly delightful.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The legendary and time proven A-Series engine of 1275cc displacement needs no introduction. Producing an ample 62bhp, this sedate Metro offers a relaxed driving experience with a top speed of 90mph and 0-60 in 16.0 seconds. The engine bay is spotlessly clean with factory plates, stickers and panel stampings clearly visible. The factory optional four-speed automatic transmission operates exactly as it should and the car performs faultlessly making relaxed touring and city driving a pleasure.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Factory standard pressed steel wheels remain fitted and are dressed with the original full-width wheel trims which are as new. Highly sought-after Dunlop TD SP Elite 160/65 R315 tyres retain plenty of tread and good rubber condition and the spare wheel is shod in the unused Michelin TDXE tyre with coloured banding still visible. A spare set of four tyres are also provided. Alongside the spare wheel is the complete toolkit and paint touch up pen in their holders along with the original jack. The dual line servo-assisted brakes with ventilated front discs pull the car up quickly and safely.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new on 9th November 1989 by Austin Rover Main Dealer, Quicks Parkside of Coventry, this cherished Metro has covered an exceptionally low 21,320 miles from new! The first owner, Mrs Jessica Arnold, paid a purchase price of £7,350.00 as detailed on the original Quicks Parkside purchase invoice in the history file. The car resided at its home in Coventry for the first 21 years with Mrs Arnold and then a Mr Ronald Taylor of the same address. In 2011, the car was purchased by Metro fanatic, Mr Jason Barnes, who kept the car garaged alongside his collection of classic cars including a Ford Anglia. Both the car and Jason are well known within the Metro Owners Club community and in particular this car is highly regarded to a renowned and much respected Metro Guru, Tom Morley, owner of a number of multiple concours winning cars, (including two Metro’s). In 2013 it was on the Metro Club Stand at the NEC and in 2018 it was awarded Best Mk2 at Club Awards.

The history file contains a large folder of neatly filed service invoices as well as virtually every MOT certificate dating back to the first in 1992. The full book pack including the service book is present. The extensive service history fully verifies the mileage and offers an insight to the maintenance this car has enjoyed. Completing the history file are utterly brilliant ‘Metro Gets you Going’ mug, merchandise brochure and Austin Rover ‘Individual Choice’ collection brochure along with four sets of keys with aerial pullers and printed DVLA ownership history.

With Metro’s fast becoming a symbol of the era and increasingly collectable, this pampered example is without question one of the best in existence.

Rover 214SEi

SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

An outstanding Rover 214SEi with only 13,187 miles and 20 service stamps!

EQUIPMENT
Duotone paint finish, Rover grille with chrome surround, bodyside mouldings with red insert, grey rear applique, green tinted glass, windscreen shadeband, remote tailgate release, remote fuel filler release, remote adjust door mirrors, burr walnut fascia insert, central door locking, permetric anti-theft alarm with engine immobiliser, driver’s docket pocket, passenger vanity mirror, coin tray, bright door sill tread strips, electronic tune radio cassette R652.

EXTERIOR
This beautifully preserved early Rover 214SEi is finished in stunning Duotone Pearlescent Nightfire Red over Tempest Grey, (Code RDX). Having covered just 13,187 miles from new with husband and wife ownership throughout, the factory paint finish is simply remarkable and all original panels and bodywork are near pristine. Tiny touched in scratches are visible on close inspection, most notable on the boot lid edge. Trim sections, badges and rubbers are fully intact with only a light scuff to offside front bumper corner. Originality seekers will be pleased to see the supplying Rover main dealer number plates, rear screen sticker and credit card style VIN plate in the front windscreen. The SEi model was a desirable choice within the Rover 200 Series range and once a common sight on our roads. This strictly garaged rare survivor displays its low mileage and low owner credentials with true pride.

INTERIOR
A typically plush interior to be expected from Rover features Renaissance seat facings in Granite colour scheme, (Code LOY). Entirely reflective of its pampered existence and 13,187 miles, the interior is in perfect showroom condition with no wear or damage to the upholstery whatsoever. The fascia, trim and walnut insert are as new. The pristine cut pile carpets having been protected from new by carpet mats and the often-troublesome headlining is perfect in every respect. All functions and controls operate perfectly including the original Rover R652 stereo cassette. Very comfortable and awfully nostalgic!

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Fitted with the K-Series 16v double overhead camshaft engine with electronic multi-point fuel injection, this 1396cc unit develops 102bhp at 6000rpm and 127Nm torque at 5000rpm. This is enough to achieve a top speed of 113mph and 0-60 is dealt with in an impressive 10.1 seconds. Evidenced by 20 stamped entries in the service book, this well-maintained example feels tight and delivers responsive acceleration and a civilised driving manner. The engine bay is immaculate and displays factory stickers, labels and bulkhead VIN stamp. Gear changes via the 5-speed manual box are light and precise, affirming once more the cars ultra-low mileage credentials and pampered existence.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The factory 14in steel wheels wear the original and correct Prestige wheel trims which remain as new with no damage. There is plenty of tread remaining on the factory fitted Dunlop SP9 175/65 R14 tyres but renewal prior to regular use would be a wise precaution simply due to age. The spare wheel and tyre have never seen the road and the tyre still has the original label and coloured banding! Also, the unused jack and wheel brace remain in the polystyrene holder. Diagonally split and dual-circuit servo assisted brakes offer assured straight-line stopping power.

HISTORY FILE
Supplied new on the 5th November 1993 by SMC Rover of Slough, this example has covered an amazing 13,187 miles from new. A new vehicle order form and sales invoice is made out to Mr John Savage who owned the car until 2017. Upon his passing the car was transferred to his wife Hazel who remains the only other keeper. At a cost illustrated on the sales invoice of £10,645, a part exchange allowance was given for his 1990 Nissan Sunny that had covered just 10,500 miles! Mr and Mrs Savage adored the car and kept it immaculate and strictly garaged. Despite the low mileage, the service book contains a remarkable 20 stamped service entries, 19 of which are the supplying dealer, SMC Rover, with every supporting invoice in the history folder! The grey Rover wallet holds all handbooks, guides, code cards and dealership point of sale literature and there are three Rover keys. A further file of paperwork includes previous MOT certificates and an original Rover 214 SEi brochure.

It is difficult to comprehend a superior example with this car’s low owner, low mileage and amazing service history credentials. One for the Rover collector and avid enthusiast to preserve and treasure.

HISTORY FILE
This incredibly low mileage example was registered new on the 24th September 2004 by Rover Main Dealer, Phoenix of Coventry. The original owner kept the car for 15 years until his sad passing in 2019 whereby ownership transferred to his daughter. In August 2020 the car was sold by KGF Classic Cars to an enthusiast with a very eclectic collection of vehicles including a classic Mercedes SL, MGB and a Tesla! A loss of secure dry storage means the Rover is now due to find a new home on a reluctant last in first out basis. The plastic document wallet holds the original handbook/service book and there is every MOT certificate dating back to 2008 to fully verify the exceptionally low 5,557 miles from new. Further invoices, range sales brochure and two sets of remote keys with fobs and dealer keyrings complete the history file.

A perfect entry into affordable modern classic car ownership with an immaculate surviving model and certainly one of the best remaining, now deserving of an appreciative new owner and Rover aficionado.

Rover 220 Turbo Tomcat Coupe

SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

The holy grail of all FDH Rover 220 Turbo Tomcat Coupe’s with only 6,646 miles.

MODEL HISTORY
Developed by Rover based on the R8 200/400 Series and given the project code name ‘Tomcat’, the Rover Coupe was launched on 6th October 1992 at the Paris Motor Show, the most powerful version being the 220 Turbo and hailed as one of the most powerful production Rovers ever built.  ‘FDH’ registered cars need little introduction to the Rover fraternity, referring to the approximately 200 cars that were built at Longbridge and prepared for the Japanese market in 1995.  The cars were specified with all factory options.  Due to a change in Japanese emission legislation during exporting, the cars were unable to meet requirements without modification which rendered the process uneconomical.  All cars were repatriated and registered to Rover in Dudley DVLA office under the suffix ****FDH after considerable delays due to administration and re-entry laws in 1998.  The cars were either sold to Rover employees or the Rover dealer network at a discount.  (Source: Rover Coupe Owners Club,  FDH – The Real Story)

EQUIPMENT
T-bar glass roof with removable panels and holdall, tinted glass, side intrusion door beams, boot mounted spoiler, front foglamps, driver’s airbag, rake-adjustable sports steering wheel,  lumber support, electric front windows with ‘one-shot down’ driver’s window, electric heated door mirrors, boot and fuel filler remote release, infa-red remote central locking, perimetric and volumetric alarm, digital clock, tachometer, lamps-on buzzer, 50/50 split folding rear seat, cassette storage.  Factory Options; Pearlescent paint, air conditioning, leather trim, driver’s seat height adjustment.

EXTERIOR
It is quite likely that this Rover 220 Turbo Coupe is the best in existence having covered an incredible 6,646 miles from new with one private owner.   Finished in optional and desirable Pearlescent Tahiti Blue, (Code JRJ), the original factory finish is simply incredible and representative of a virtually new car aside from some insignificant marks.  The Pearlescent paint, in the words of Rovers marketing, contains translucent mica particles to give the illusion of constantly changing shimmering colour, which in the sunlight is entirely true, beautiful.  All body colour trim items, rubbers, Rover Triplex glass and light fittings are perfectly preserved and commensurate with such a low mileage and garaged from new example.  Underside inspection will delight originality seekers with even factory stickers that have survived attached to the shock absorbers!  The titanium coated T-Bar glass roof panels can be neatly stored in the original bag when not in use.  Sinuous sporting lines and almost perfect.

INTERIOR
An atmosphere of sporting luxury is creating with this flagship model.  The contoured seats with lumber and optional height adjustment are upholstered in unmarked full Ash Grey leather, (Code LNF).  All carpeting has been protected by genuine ‘Rover Coupe’ inscribed velour mats and the Burr Walnut adorning the curved fascia is rich in colour having never been exposed to direct sunlight.  All controls, gauges and warning lamps are operational.  The bright door sill tread strips are unmarked and all door shuts are spotless. This incredible survivor displays its very low mileage with complete pride.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The phenomenal 200bhp T-Series engine is a double overhead camshaft 16-valve design with an optimised induction system, modified cam timing and revised exhaust delivering 0-60mph acceleration in only 6.2 seconds and a top speed of 150mph.  Regular maintenance and two cambelt changes, the last one in March 2019, will ensure optimal performance.  The engine bay is factory standard and correct in every way and spotlessly clean.  The 5-speed manual transmission is positive and the high torque is controlled by the fitment of Torsen torque sensing traction control system fitted as standard on the 220 Turbo.  Wonderful.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The unique 15” 6-spoke Turbo alloy wheels are pristine and shod in the factory Dunlop SP Sport 2000 195/55 ZR15 tyres with ample tread and no cracks.  The spare remains unused and the brace and jack are wrapped still wrapped in clear film never opened!  Diagonally split and dual-circuit servo assisted anti-lock disc brakes, ventilated up-front, offer assured straight line stopping power.

HISTORY FILE
Unique not only because this is a FDH registered car, (see model history), but also because of the incredibly low 6,646 miles covered with just one owner.  Registered new on the 3rd August 1998 by the Rover Group Ltd of Bickenhill, this car was subsequently sold to Mr Steve Jones through Rover Main Agents, Lex Rover of Chelmsford.  Mr Jones, a Rover owner for many years arrived in his 820Si at the dealership to buy the new Rover 75 and was disappointed to learn the car was still not in the showroom and launch was a few months away.  Alas, his disappointment was short lived when he clapped eyes on this stunning Tahiti Blue 220 Turbo Coupe and a purchase was duly made!  Being the proud custodian and business owner of SC Autos, this car has been carefully stored and maintained from new.  In 2005 ownership was transferred to his business for insurance purposes.  Virtually every MOT from the first to the current is neatly filed to warrant the mileage and all handbooks, spare keys and documentation is included within the original Rover wallet. A sales brochure, the FDH Real Story Article and other FDH information is included.   It really does not get much better.

Fitted with the K-Series 16v double overhead camshaft engine with electronic multi-point fuel injection, this 1396cc unit develops 102bhp at 6000rpm and 127Nm torque at 3000rpm.  This is enough to achieve a top speed of 110mph and 0-60 is dealt with in an impressive 10.7 seconds.  This well maintained example delivers responsive acceleration and a civilised driving manner.  The engine bay is very clean and displays factory stickers.  Gear changes via the 5 speed manual box are light and precise, affirming once more the cars low mileage credentials.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The original seven spoke 15” alloy wheel rims which have never been refurbished are well presented with only light markings and scratches to the outer rims.  These again have been touched in by the thoughtful owner.  There is masses of tread remaining on the 185/55 R15 tyres and incredibly the unused spare is shod in the factory Michelin rubber.  Also, the original unused jack and wheel brace remain unopened still in the cellophane wrapping!  Diagonally split and dual-circuit servo assisted brakes offer assured straight line stopping power.

HISTORY FILE
Supplied new on the 1st August 1995 by Rover Main Agents, Wrights of Sleaford, this example has had just two keepers and covered an amazing 17,988 miles from new.  A new vehicle sales invoice confirms the price paid by first owner Mr Alan Walker to be £10,795 with a part exchange allowance of £800 for his brown 1984 Austin Metro 1.3L!  Mr Walker kept the car for sixteen years until August 2011 when the second and only further custodian Mr Nigel Mills purchased it as a modern classic car to take to local shows and Rover Club outings.  Mr Mills along with his wife were regular attendees of the Mid Lincs Rover Club Rally whereby the car has gained a number of awards and trophies including ‘Best Modern Rover’.

The large history file includes the original Rover wallet containing all handbooks, guides and dealership literature.  It is quite common for vehicles of such low usage to have had minimal service work, however, the service booklet contains 13 stamped entries with the most recent at 15,698 miles.  Furthermore, a large folder contains a huge collection of invoices, receipts and virtually every MOT certificate to fully document the mileage and maintenance record.

Two keys with remote fobs and an original sales brochure complete the history file.  This wonderful rare car is perfect for the collector and avid modern classic Rover enthusiast alike.

HISTORY FILE

Registered new on 1st May 1990 by Austin Rover Main Dealers D.C.Cook of Rotherham, the first keeper Mr William Wood purchased his beloved Mini as a 60th birthday and retirement present to himself.  Dealer options specified from new by him included car alarm, centre console unit and full Waxoyl treatment.  The original presentation pack given to the first owner when each Thirty model was new is present and complete in the history file.  This pack incorporates a hardback book outlining the 1959-1989 history of the Mini (still in the cellophane wrapper), miniature Corgi model painted in the correct Cherry Red and a certificate confirming build number 1268.  Beautifully preserved, this presentation pack only very rarely remained with these cars and now represents a collectable piece in itself.

Minimal usage due to his early passing, the vehicle remained in Mr Wood’s name until January 2014.  After upmost scrutiny and vetting by his family who were adamant the Mini must go to a true enthusiast, the car was purchased by Mr Richard Hoar, a well known club member.   A respected Mini enthusiast and owner of countless Mini’s in his lifetime, this Thirty formed part of his collection alongside a stunning Mk1 Cooper and attended shows and club outings.  The history file further consists of the original leather bound wallet containing the service booklet and handbook.  KGF Classic Cars last sold the car in 2014 and are delighted to offer it again.
