EXTERIOR

This pristine Mini Thirty, number 1268 of 2500 produced, is finished in lustrous Pearlescent Cherry Red (code COG), one of only two colours available for this model.  The factory original paintwork boasts a beautiful deep shine created due to the extra coat of clear lacquer applied when new, and preserved impeccably thanks to the remarkable low mileage and careful storage.  Even upon very close inspection the paintwork upholds its incredible finish and will satisfy the most discerning scrutiniser.  All the chrome is perfect, including the eleven slat grille and front and rear bumpers, as are the colour coded wheel arch spats.  All distinguishing decals exclusive to the Mini Thirty remain intact and damage free and the Mini Thirty Crest bonnet badge is flawless.  A truly extraordinary example of this iconic classic special edition Mini, every inch a showroom display piece and surely the jewel in any collection.  Stunning.

INTERIOR

The interior of this outstanding Mini Thirty is in fabulous original condition finished in the elegant blend of black leather and ‘Lighting’ cloth with the important ‘1959 to 1989’ tag neatly sewn into the seat.  The unique Claret deep cut pile carpets are wear free and the two front seats are preserved with the driver’s seat having been covered by the enthusiast owner.  The red leather sports steering wheel with ‘Thirty’ crest is completely free from wear, commensurate with the cars minimal usage.  The factory Phillips R570 stereo is housed in the dealer option centre console along with an additional speaker, cigar lighter and Quartz clock.  All instruments, switches gauges operate correctly and the interior plastic trim, door cards and headlining are perfect.  A miniature replica model is attached to the dash top.  It is difficult to see how much closer you could get to a ‘new’ classic Mini interior, complete with the new car smell!  Very special and not to been missed.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION

This car is in prime mechanical order having covered such few miles.  Needing little introduction, the engine is the 4-cylinder transverse OHV 998cc A+ unit which pulls strongly and quietly.  The four speed all synchromesh gearbox is impeccably smooth and light, precise gear changes are accomplished effortlessly.  The engine bay featuring the unique yellow paintwork block is completely original, unmolested and exactly as Rover intended.  Evidence of the dealership applied Waxoyl from new as specified from new by the conscientious first owner is visible on the inner wings.  Classic Minis are renowned for their pure simplistic fun characteristics and this example is no exception!

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES

Factory original and unrestored, the correct and desirable eight spoke alloy wheels with wheel nut cut away sections remain in perfect order.  The original Pirelli Cinturato 145/70 12 tyres have masses of tread remaining with even the sidewall nobbles still intact!  The servo assisted dual line hydraulic brakes pull the car up quickly and aid the responsive handling and manoeuvrability.

HISTORY FILE

Registered new on 1st May 1990 by Austin Rover Main Dealers D.C.Cook of Rotherham, the first keeper Mr William Wood purchased his beloved Mini as a 60th birthday and retirement present to himself.  Dealer options specified from new by him included car alarm, centre console unit and full Waxoyl treatment.  The original presentation pack given to the first owner when each Thirty model was new is present and complete in the history file.  This pack incorporates a hardback book outlining the 1959-1989 history of the Mini (still in the cellophane wrapper), miniature Corgi model painted in the correct Cherry Red and a certificate confirming build number 1268.  Beautifully preserved, this presentation pack only very rarely remained with these cars and now represents a collectable piece in itself.

Minimal usage due to his early passing, the vehicle remained in Mr Wood’s name until January 2014.  After upmost scrutiny and vetting by his family who were adamant the Mini must go to a true enthusiast, the car was purchased by Mr Richard Hoar, a well known club member.   A respected Mini enthusiast and owner of countless Mini’s in his lifetime, this Thirty formed part of his collection alongside a stunning Mk1 Cooper and attended shows and club outings.  The history file further consists of the original leather bound wallet containing the service booklet and handbook.  KGF Classic Cars last sold the car in 2014 and are delighted to offer it again.
