A super rare survivor Zastava Yugo 45A with a mere 16,923 miles from new.

EXTERIOR
This delightfully rare UK Yugo 45A has been preserved in astonishing original condition. Finished in factory Cannes Blue, (Code 497), the paintwork boasts a deep polished finish and uniform shine. The bodywork is incredible with no corrosion or unsightly repairs to the underside or factory panels. A few small age-related markings and paintwork imperfections are utterly insignificant and entirely forgiven for this rare survivor showing remarkable originality. There is a tiny ding to the roof and the driver’s door mirror glass is slightly delaminated but without loss of effectiveness. The perfectly square jacking points show the care bestowed upon this cossetted example, and even the supplying dealer number plates and rear screen sticker remain fitted. All glass is factory fitment including the windscreen which even still has the driver information and warning stickers intact! Very well-kept for somebody wanting the ultimate, dare to be different classic!

INTERIOR
Truly commensurate with the amazingly low mileage, the interior of this classic Yugo is preserved in fabulous condition. The original grey cloth upholstery is clean and largely free from wear with one miniscule mark to the driver’s seat. The colour scheme grey carpets are fully intact. The synthetic fibre door cards although undamaged do show slight discoloration along with the dash top. The design of the interior certainly follows the theme of grey with the amusingly boxy fascia and chunky switchgear. The optional working Philips AC648 radio cassette remains fitted and a complete tool kit remain exactly as Yugo intended. Humble, functional, delightfully sparse, but very charming.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The four-cylinder 903cc OHC engine with multi-jet Weber style carburettor develops a spritely 45bhp to achieve a ferocious top speed of 85mph with 0-60mph figures not manufacturer quoted! The very clean engine bay further showcases upmost originality with all plates, inner wing VIN stamp and stickers intact including the ‘Made in Yugoslavia’ label. The four-speed manual gearbox operates well albeit slightly vague, just as it was made!

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Five 4½j x 13 steel wheels in excellent order wear equally clean and damage free dealer optional full wheel covers. All five wheels including the engine bay mounted spare are shod in brand new Uniroyal 145/80 R13 tyres covering zero miles. The braking system incorporating front discs and rear drums has been fully overhauled in May 2026 to perform perfectly.

HISTORY FILE
Supplied new by Zastava Yugo Cars Main Dealer, John Childs (Garage) Ltd Reading on 1st August 1989, this extraordinary example has defied the odds and survived in a totally preserved state, owing largely to the mere 16,923 miles covered from new. Many years in the hands of fastidious enthusiast owners has certainly played a part in the vehicles surviving state. The previous owner who owns many Yugo cars as well as other quirky classics has amassed a large collection of Yugo memorabilia, brochures, workshop manuals and official documents such as press releases for new models in the 1980’s. The large history file is neatly presented with all the Yugo brochures and paraphernalia as well as MOT records and service invoices. There is a service record print out from the supplying dealership covering 1992 to 2005 as well as early invoices and recall letters. In May 2026 the car benefitted from a major service, fuel system refresh and brake overhaul. This genuine UK example is an incredible rare survivor, especially in such unmolested original condition. Be prepared to be the talk of many car shows!

EXTERIOR
This extraordinary rare Yugo 55A Van reputed to be the only example remaining in the UK has been preserved in astonishing original condition. Finished in factory original Vintage Burgundy (code 181), the paintwork boasts a polished finish with no fading or lacquer damage. Absolutely no corrosion to the underside or factory panels, the uniform paint finish has only minor stone chips and a small bleb to the bonnet. The perfectly square jacking points and Yugo door protectors show the care bestowed upon this cossetted example, with even the dealer number plates are fitted front and rear and a set of unused Yugo mudflaps supplied! A pristine engine bay displays factory plates and stickers including the ‘Made in Yugoslavia’ sticker. To further emphasize the remarkable originality, even the paint colour code sticker remains in the boot area, which is incredibly clean and damage free for a van! Perfect for somebody wanting the ultimate dare to be different classic commercial vehicle!

All beautifully preserved, only a tiny glue residue to the dash top from a removed tidy tray prevents using the word perfect. Original items such as the optional working International KL3000 radio cassette, radio blanking plate and complete tool kit remain exactly as Yugo intended. The cargo area offers a maximum payload of 325kg and it’s hard to imagine anything more taxing than balloons and pillows have ever been transported in this example! Humble, functional and delightfully spartan, but very charming.

Fastidious ownership with just four former keepers, many years in the hands of enthusiasts has certainly played a part in the vehicles surviving state. An impressive history file includes the original Yugo Cars plastic wallet housing all handbooks, service schedule, point of sale literature and even the salesman and after sales manager business cards! The history file further consists of many previous MOT certificates and invoices to help support the very low mileage, including evidence of servicing and maintenance carried out this year.
