All trim sections, glass, lights and badges are pristine and further originality can be seen in the supplying Mitsubishi dealer number plates and rear screen sticker. Even the one and only keeper’s Institute of Advanced Motoring sticker remains proudly displayed in the windscreen which helps offer reassurance this example has been driven carefully and is preserved in outstanding order.
It is difficult to distinguish this interior from that of a showroom Mitsubishi Galant in the year 2000 when this car was brand new almost 20 years ago! The plush GLS specification Light Grey Fabric Seat Trim, (Code 82U), is in perfect condition with absolutely no visible wear or staining whatsoever. The non-woven fabric headlining is as new, as are the door cards and fully carpeted luggage area complete with roller blind tonneau. The immaculate fascia houses quality feel controls and switchgear, all working perfectly including the ice-cold air conditioning and cruise control. Subtle chrome interior finishing’s are mirror perfect and the steering wheel displays prominent natural veins found only on uber-low mileage examples. Tailored genuine Galant floor mats have protected the carpet from new with a small mark visible on the front passenger side mat. As close to a brand-new example as you could ever wish for.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
A byword for Japanese reliability is the sturdy 1997cc SOHC 16v petrol engine fitted to this GLS example. Performance figures are quoted at 134bhp and 178Nm of torque to achieve 118 mph top speed and 0-62mph in 12.2 seconds. The pristine engine bay affirms its low mileage credentials with factory data plates to the bulkhead and bonnet underside as well as the bulkhead chassis stamp. All original labels, factory protective wax and PDI dabs have remained untouched and even the under-bonnet insulation is clean! The engine is whisper quiet and the factory optional 4-speed automatic transmission with INVECS II Sports mode performs faultlessly.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Factory fitted alloy wheels are unrestored and retain the correct finish and manufacturer symbols. In excellent condition with no kerb damage whatsoever, only very light markings to the inner spokes can be seen. Matching premium brand Bridgestone Potenza tyres are fitted and the full-size spare wheel wears a virgin Michelin tyre which is housed in the lower boot floor alongside the full unused toolkit and jack. The anti-lock braking system with 8.0in ventilated front discs and 8.7in rear discs offer powerful stopping capability.
Registered new on the 10th October 2000 by Mitsubishi Main Dealer, Ashley Smithy Garage of Altrincham, this stunning example has covered a genuine 6,593 miles from new with one owner, Mr Fred Noble. Having purchased the car in retirement, Mr Noble cherished his Galant with strict garage storage and whilst mileage use was minimal, the car was regularly used and routinely taken for MOT each and every year. MOT certificates and records date back to 2005 to verify the mileage, as does the original service book containing a remarkable 13 entries. Timing belts were changed and documented at 6,139 miles and the last service was carried out at 6,557 miles. The Mitsubishi document wallet also holds all handbooks, guides and dealership literature along with two Mitsubishi keys and remote fobs. Completing the history is a file of service invoices and receipts as well as original Galant range and separate accessories brochures. This one owner Galant is probably the most original and low mileage example is existence and makes a brilliant practical modern classic now approaching 20 years old!
