WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The standard 15” styled steel wheels are in super condition with no rim damage and brand-new premium brand Yokohama Geolander all-terrain tyres in size 195/80 R15 were fitted in April 2024 covering approximately 200 miles. The rear mounted spare still wears the original and unused Michelin 4×4 tyre with coloured banding, tyre nobbles and wheel cover plate. The braking system with 262mm front discs and 254mm rear drums has been overhauled in June 2024 and operates exactly is intended.

HISTORY FILE
Supplied new on the 3rd February 2000, this UK specification example was sourced directly from a Land Rover main agent in Belgium, a practice quite common in the late 1990’s whereby waiting lists could be swerved and significant savings made. The car was ordered by first owner, Mr Thomas, from main dealer Carrosserie Vandewoude who specified factory options including Epsom Green Micatallic paint, electric sunroof and towing pack. The correspondence between Mr Thomas and the concessionaries is in held in a separate file and is extensive, his attention to detail was incredible! The car was owned by Mr Thomas until April 2024 when ownership passed to family member, Mr Bladon.

All handbooks, guides and service book are held in the leather document wallet and there is a separate file of invoices and MOT records as well as both remote fobs and keys. A full service, inspection, cambelt and water pump and brake overhaul were carried out in June 2024. Completing the history file are original Freelander range brochure, specification survey foldout and price list. With earlier Freelander’s becoming highly sought after, this low mileage and low owner cherished example is not to be missed.

Attention to detail can be witnessed in all areas including the underside which will amaze spectators expecting to see utilitarian components plastered in mud rather than being very clean! Headlamps mounted in the grille area reveal the early design features favoured by many. Basic in all respects with a few exterior options such as the adjustable draw bar pull, foldaway doorsteps and immaculate colour coded Cotton Duck canvas hood. Being the Regular Truck Cab on the 88-inch chassis this quintessentially British classic will steal the hearts of many.

HISTORY FILE
Supplied new on the 6th February 1998 by Land Rover Main Dealer, Lode Lane of Solihull, this example was registered to the dealer themselves as a demonstrator. The first private keeper, Mr Mick Richardson, purchased the car through the Land Rover Approved Used Vehicle Scheme with Stonelake Land Rover of Wakefield and kept the car until 2014, where after the second private keeper, Mr Matthew Prescott, took ownership. Mr Prescott sold the vehicle to KGF Classic Cars in 2017 knowing it to be one of the finest examples who subsequently sold it to Mr Martin Day within the first week of advertising! Mr Day is a Land Rover enthusiast also owning an unrestored and very early Series 1 Land Rover 80-inch and his hunt to find an original Series One Land Rover Discovery was eventually over. The incredibly low 48,493 miles covered is fully verified with absolutely every MOT certificate kept in the history file from the first in 2001 to present. The original immaculate leather document wallet contains the service book with factory build sticker and 12 stamped entries, the last being in January 2018 at 46,541 miles. This was carried out at approved Land Rover service centre, Lindacre of Ipswich who also performed a cam belt change. All handbooks, guides and dealership literature are present. Completing the history file is a collection of invoices, three keys with both remote fobs and a sales brochure. Making a fabulous much cheaper addition/alternative to a Defender, this cossetted Discovery will delight enthusiasts and collectors alike.
