EXTERIOR
Finished in factory original Zambezi Silver Metallic, (Code 737), the incredible paintwork boasts a bright polished shine and uniform finish. This low mileage example certainly has never exploited its off-road capabilities leaving all factory panels preserved, pin straight and totally damage free. Only tiny paint chips and minor markings will show upon very close scrutiny, utterly insignificant. The underside and common vulnerable areas associated with Discovery’s have remained in exceptional order, as have all robust and chunky trim sections and Land Rover badged light lenses. Main Dealer branded number plates, spare wheel cover, rear sticker and tax disc holder remain fitted. A very well cared for Discovery 2, virtually impossible to find in such a wonderful pampered and original condition.

INTERIOR
This low mileage protected interior remains exactly as Land Rover intended. The Discovery XS part leather and Alcantara trim is spotlessly clean and wear free with even the driver’s bolster firm and intact. The carpeting has been fully protected by heavy duty Land Rover rubber mats and there is also a large rubber boot floor protector leaving the luggage area pristine. All controls and switchgear feel like new and operate seamlessly, including the Discovery Premium ICE system and automatic air conditioning. The steering wheel shows the prominent natural veins found only on such low mileage vehicles and the headlining is tight and intact. The Land Rover full toolkit and snow weather kit remain in the tailored zip bag. This refined late model Discovery 2 appears to never have seen so much as a muddy boot and it is a credit to the two owners from new.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Discovery’s five-cylinder TD5 diesel turbocharged and intercooled engine produces 135 bhp with an impressive 300Nm of torque at just 1,950rpm to ensure pulling power is guaranteed. This pampered example even boasts a super clean engine bay with factory plates and stickers as well as genuine Land Rover service items clearly visible. Impressive capabilities to include minimum under axle clearance of 208mm and normal wading depth of 500mm show why Land Rover set the standard for 4×4 manufacturers worldwide. A tough manual gearbox with high/low transfer giving 10 forward and 2 reverse gears is light and easy to use.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Upon purchasing the car in 2014, the previous perfection seeking owner purchased a set of five brand new and correct Style 6 alloy wheels from main dealer Marshall Land Rover at a cost of £1,222.25. The wheels remain in perfect order and are shod in premium brand Goodyear EfficientGrip SUV 255/55 R18 tyres which show masses of tread. The factory standard braking system incorporates ABS with Electronic Brake Distribution which along with 4-wheel traction control ensure complete surefootedness.

HISTORY FILE
Supplied new on the 9th July 2003 by Main Dealer, Guy Salmon Land Rover in Sheffield, this example has had just two keepers and covered a fully verified 40,485 miles from new. The first owner kept the car for 11 years at which point Land Rover fanatic Mr Biscoe purchased the vehicle. The used vehicle sales invoice made out to himself and Mrs Biscoe reveals they part exchanged their Series 1 Discovery. Mrs and Mrs Biscoe clearly wanted the perfect example and there is another invoice immediately after purchasing the vehicle for genuine Land Rover accessories for items including brand new alloy wheels, side steps and a full rubber mat set costing £1,858.52!

The original leather document wallet contains the service book with 14 stamped entries, 13 of which are Land Rover Main Dealer, and the last service was in July 2019 with less than 1,000 miles covered since. This major service incorporated all oils and fluids changed in the transfer box, gearbox, both differentials, coolant and brake fluid. All handbooks, guides and dealership point of sale literature is also present. Completing the history file are all corresponding Land Rover and specialist service invoices and MOT certificates dating back to the first. Both Land Rover remote keys are present. Now firmly established as a modern classic off roader, preserved examples are fast becoming highly sought after, and a fabulous addition/alternative to a defender. This cossetted Discovery will delight enthusiasts and collectors alike.
