The bodywork is beautifully straight and all panels are factory original and display linear gaps. Originality seekers will be pleased to note all lenses are factory Hella fitment with Ford and ‘made in England’ lettering, and the supplying Ford Main Dealer number plates remain fitted. The outer offside headlamp has a small chip to the lens. All trim sections are immaculate and the badges and decals are bright and undamaged. This car has been in the ownership of just two fastidious individuals from new and covered a mere 64,577 miles and the superb condition reflects its lifelong ‘pride of joy’ status.

INTERIOR
The supportive Recaro seats in Grey high-grade leather with ‘Strobe’ pattern fabric centre panels, (Code Q5), are spotlessly clean with firm seat structure retaining correct shape. The often wear-prone driver’s outer seat bolsters are in fantastic condition. The door cards, headlining and trim sections are superbly preserved and the deep pile grey carpeting is very clean and retains its fullness. ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The Capri 2.8 Injection was the first offering of the new Special Vehicle Engineering (SVE) operation that had recently been set up in Dunton, Essex. SVE added a Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection system, an oil/water heat exchanger, viscous coupled fan and an improved radiator making 158 BHP and capable of 130mph and 0-60mph in 7.9 seconds. The fantastic engine bay is standard with factory build plates and stickers displayed, even down to genuine Motorcraft radiator. The 5-speed gearbox is direct and progression through the range is effortless. Complete with the intoxicating exhaust note, this Capri is guaranteed to set the pulse racing!

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The factory 7-spoke alloy wheels are pristine with Ford badged centre caps. Five matching branded tyres in the correct size 205/60 R13 retain masses of tread. The immaculate luggage area has build stickers to the boot floor and houses the fifth alloy spare wheel still shod in the factory Goodyear tyre alongside the original jack and brace. The meticulous maintenance enjoyed by the car extends to the hydraulic dual-line servo-assisted brakes with ventilated front discs unique on the 2.8 Special which stop the car quickly and in a straight line.

HISTORY FILE
A car boasting just two owners from new, 64,577 miles and the most incredible history file. Built in November 1986 at the Cologne Plant in Germany, this 2.8 Injection Special was registered new on 25th February 1987 by Ford Main Dealer, Currie Motors London Ltd. Purchased new by a Mr Butler, the car became an instant ‘pride of joy’ affair and a detailed letter in the history file speaks of his family’s love for the car including trips in it to Austria and the South of France. Mr Butler goes on to recall that in 1989 the cars interior and wheels were stolen when the one and only time he forgot to lock the car in the garage. He was awoken in the early hours by the local constabulary to tell him of the missing items. The car was then taken to the supplying dealer, Currie Motors for repair work to be undertaken where Mr Butler learned that on the same night a C-registration Capri had also suffered at the hands of the thieves but had been written off by the insurance company due to being older and of higher mileage. A comprehensive invoice from Currie Motors dated October 1989 totals £4,247.29 in repairs and understandably there is a further Currie Motors invoice where Mr Butler ordered a Cobra Ultrasonic alarm! The car then became the family’s second car and was used only for holidays and weekends until eventually in 2005 the difficult decision to sell the Capri was made.

Mr O’Neill purchased the car in May 2005 and became the second and only other keeper who was fortunate enough to have a letter from the original owner giving him a potted history of the car since it was new. The colossal history file is simply amazing and consists of two huge folders with all paperwork in chronological order from new. All Ford Main Dealer and specialist service invoices have been kept dating back to the first service in December 1987 when the car was 10 months old. There is also every single MOT certificate with checklist every year without exception right back to the very first in 1990! Two separate diaries are highly detailed, one for servicing and one for routine maintenance and there is even every tax disc from 1990 to 2014 when they were discontinued. The most recent service was carried out at 64,167 miles. The original book pack contains all handbooks, operating guides and service book containing all the stamped entries as well a 3 sets of keys and an original sales brochure for the February 1987 Ford Range.

A cosseted and beautifully presented example of this British motoring legend.

During this time the car was used for display purposes. One such display was the Ford Summer Fair held at Bramcote in July 1973 where the F.A.V.O had a marquee to display a selection of Escort Mexico’s and RS1600’s under the heading of Ford Rallye Sport Scene. XWC189L was one of five cars on show next to a Mexico Group One Race Car and even Roger Clarks Rally Car!

Ford Escort RS Cosworth

SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

The most incredible Ford Escort RS Cosworth with only 217 miles from new.

MODEL HISTORY
The Ford Escort RS Cosworth was a sports derivative and rally homologation special of the fifth generation Ford Escort. It was designed to qualify as a Group A car for the World Rally Championship. It was available as a road car from 1992-96 in limited numbers from Ford’s Specialist Vehicle Engineering, (SVE), Group. It combines the hand-assembled engine expertise of Cosworth and the coach-building crafts of Karmann. In order to accommodate the larger Cosworth engine and transmission Ford developed the car around the chassis and mechanicals of its predecessor, the Sierra Cosworth. A very rare car with only 7,145 examples being produced with this example being one of the last. (Source Wikipedia, 1995 Edition One RS Brochure and the RS Owners Club).

EQUIPMENT
Body colour front bumper with black lower extension, louvred bonnet air intakes, wing air extraction grilles, headlight electric wash, integral driving lights and fog lights, driver airbag, padded armrest with cassette storage, anti-theft alarm, delayed courtesy light, oil pressure gauge, turbo gauge, voltmeter, quartz digital clock with ambient temperature, electro-luminescent dials, Ford 2007 RDS radio/cassette.

EXTERIOR
With 200 hours detail development in Fords own Cologne wind tunnel the rally-bred innovation of this Standard Edition model is unmistakable and outwardly exhilarating. Finished in unmarked Radiant Red, (Code P 2), the finish can be described as impeccable thanks to the ultra-low mileage and indoor storage. The black lower bumper extension is unmarked still with PDI chalk marks and a front air splitter and wheelarch deflectors have never been fitted from new. All glass, lights and trim are factory fitment and in perfect condition. The underside of this 217 mile wonder is astonishing. Every label, sticker, tag and paint dab is visible. The light application of wax applied at the Rheine Assembly Plant have never been removed and this example is absolutely the blueprint to Fords scintillating Escort RS Cosworth.

INTERIOR
The interior of this late production Escort RS Cosworth is as new and exactly as Ford intended. The body-hugging Recaro seats finished in Raven with Pimento Red Hexagon Cloth, (Code 09), are sublime with complete fullness. Graham Goode carpet mats were fitted by Graham himself protecting the carpets and all trim, door cards and headlining is perfect. Turning the ignition on reveals all electrics operational including the Ford 2007 RDS radio/cassette still with the Keycode P1COS. The rare Standard Edition model has none of the Luxury Edition specification so manual windows, manual door mirrors and other equipment omissions are correct. Incredibly special and a collectors dream come true!

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The powerful and well proven Cosworth 2.0 litre 16v turbocharged YBT engine features the Garrett T25 hybrid turbocharger. Its lower rotor inertia, higher gas velocities and revised overboost strategy reduces turbo lag and improves drivability. 220bhp is quoted with 0-60mph obliterated in 5.7 secs and a top speed of 140 mph. It must be noted that this example has remained untouched and requires a full recommission. Please see options in the History section. The permanent Ferguson four wheel drive system with 34/66% front/rear power split mated to a MT 75 5-speed gearbox is a proven combination.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Genuine Ford RS 8 X 16” five soft-spoke alloy wheels built by Ronal are pristine and still shod in the specially formulated and factory Pirelli P Zero tyres developed for the Escort RS Cosworth. The tyres are not cracked or perished. Electrically-controlled ABS anti-lock system with two microprocessors and ventilated front and rear discs offer immense stopping power.

HISTORY FILE
This iconic Ford Escort RS Cosworth Standard Edition was built in October 1995 at the Rheine Assembly Plant in Germany and registered new on the 1st August 1996. It is one of the final examples made and was supplied to the first of only two keepers, Mr Graham Derek Goode by main dealers, Brooklyn Ford of Redditch. Mr Goode, (Managing Director of Graham Goode Motors Ltd in Leicester and renowned RS Specialist), purchased the car as an investment and it was one of the last ones available that could registered on a ‘P’ registration. He immediately put his personalised registration number on the car P1COS, a Graham Goode Racing sticker on the tailgate and Graham Goode carpet mats, all still present except the personalised plate. The car was displayed a few times and owned by him until 2010 when purchased by the only other owner and serial Ford Collector. There is an invoice in the file from the sale in 2010 and a photo of Graham Goode himself with the car when new. A recent email dated 2nd March 2022 from Graham confirms his ownership and all the detail.

It must be noted that this example will require fully recommissioning as it remains untouched with 217 miles. KGF Classic Cars are fully prepared to absorb the cost of this with Graham Goode Motors should the new owner wish. We are sympathetic that this may not be desired and the choice will be entirely the new owners.

All keys and all Ford handbooks are supplied and tax disc from 1996 along with a new car sales brochure and original Graham Goode key fob. KGF Classic Cars are honoured to be associated with this historically significant Ford Escort RS Cosworth.

Just 300 examples of the RS Red Edition were produced and finished in Race Red with other distinguishing features such as gloss black roof, mirrors and rear spoiler as well as grey-finish brake callipers and the mechanical Quaife mechanical limited-slip differential also found on the RS Heritage Edition.

The conscientious owner being fully aware of how collectable this model is, ordered the car under strict instructions that it must be kept exactly as delivered from the factory including the non-removal of factory labels, windows stickers and plastic coverings. The windscreen even still has the warning label instructing the dealership to remove the suspension spring rubbers used in transportation! The Ford supplying dealer number plates have been kept but not fitted and the pristine underside is displays component labels and stickers as you would expect from a production-line fresh example. As new and totally perfect in every respect.

INTERIOR
Upon opening the door of this collectable Focus, you are instantly greeted with extrovert styling including the naked seat frame, bright blue contrast stitching throughout and brushed aluminium tread plates with RS logo. The partial leather/Alcantara seat upholstery, (Code AR), is in perfect condition as is the rest of the trim and soft-touch material in a car that has covered just 7 miles. As with the exterior, the owner insisted that none of the interior plastic coverings or labels were touched and the driver’s footwell and door card, tread plates and touchscreen are still covered in factory cellophane! Likewise, the front seats and rear headrests are preserved under plastic factory covers with labels and the original carpet mats are still unopened and sealed in plastic. As new in every respect.

In addition to this, the RS Red Edition along with the RS Heritage Edition was fitted with a mechanical Quiafe Limited-Slip front Differential to limit torque delivered to a wheel that has reduced traction and redistribute torque to the wheel with more traction in order to counteract the stability and acceleration detriments of a wheelspin. The engine bay is as new and just as it left the factory. With the Quiafe ATB fitted to the front axle of the all-wheel-drive system and 6-speed manual gearbox, this sure-footed RS is a formidable performance machine.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES

Huge ventilated front discs are gripped by contrasting grey-finish Brembo callipers, another styling feature of the RS Red Edition.

HISTORY FILE
This astonishing Ford Focus RS Red Edition was registered new on the 31st March 2018 by Peoples Ford of Edinburgh to the first and only owner, Mr Buchan. Despite the huge demand for the Red Edition, the buyer managed to secure the build slot and specified factory optional Gloss black 19in forged alloy wheels, electric tilt/slide sunroof and door edge protectors. Despite the Ford dealers insistence and for safety reasons that all factory stickers, plastic coverings and labels must be removed the owner was eventually allowed to take the car ‘as is’ if collected by a trailer. It was collected from the dealer with 6 miles from new, (it clicked over to 7 miles being driven in the enclosed trailer), to secure storage and placed into an environment-controlled chamber where it has remained ever since.

A new vehicle sales invoice is made out to the owner and confirms the price paid of £38,073 including factory specified options. The vehicle presentation pack incudes the Ford performance document wallet containing all handbooks including the RS Owner’s Manual Supplement and all point-of-sale literature. Furthermore, both original remote keys are present and there is also a press release document with photographs. The car was handed over complete with all transportation stickers and consignment documents which are neatly held in the history folder. One of the most coveted of all RS cars and surely a jewel in even the best RS collections.
