Dealer Options: Ford immobiliser system.

EXTERIOR
With an astonishing and genuine 422 miles from new, this poverty spec example is the ultimate homage to the original Fiesta ethos of simplistic low-cost motoring. Replacing the Popular/Popular Plus model designations, this model is simple known as the ‘Fiesta’ and makes the ‘L’ seem luxurious! To suggest that this example is as new is a bold statement, but one which is wholly justified with this perfect Fiesta. Perhaps most impressive is the underside which has been preserved in a time warp condition, with all orange PDI markings to the suspension components, yellow paint dots to the springs and factory stickers still intact, all features usually destroyed within the first few weeks! It is even clear to see the machine applied factory yellow wax to the central floor areas leaving the outer sills exposed, little wonder they all rust! In factory original Diamond White, (Code B 2), the paintwork to all factory panels is 100% original and essentially as new. The trim sections are perfect and supplying Ford dealer number plates, rear screen sticker and tax disc holder with first issue 1992 disc remain fitted! This example is simply as it left the Meridian Ford showroom in 1992, with absolutely nothing painted, replaced or altered. Truly a one-off museum piece.

INTERIOR
An interior entirely commensurate with a 422 mile car! The cabin space with Goodwood Grey fabric trim, (Code L V), is simply as it sat in the showroom awaiting collection by the first and only owner. Seats, door cards, headlining and carpets are as new throughout. The controls and switchgear have bright clear symbols and the new car feel which is lost soon after regular use. All functions operate flawlessly including the ultra-rare Ford self-seek model 2001 stereo with lack of cassette player which was fitted to all models bar the most basic ‘Fiesta’. Probably most nostalgia evoking of all is the new car smell that has been retained, instantly familiar as a Ford and ready to transport you back to a Ford showroom in 1992 complete with dealer branded screen wash and multilube spray! An astonishing piece of Ford history.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The 1.1 HCS four cylinder ‘Valencia’ engine is a redesigned version of the Kent unit dating back to the 1950’s and Ford Anglia era! Specification includes a twin-venturi carburettor and manual choke set up which produces a rather pedestrian 53bhp at 5200rpm whereby a top speed of 94mph and 0-60mph is achieved in 14.2 seconds. The pristine engine bay has original plates, fragile paper stickers/labels and factory panel stampings clearly visible. A new Ford Motorcraft oil filter and the red Ford HT Leads remain fitted. A correct brand-new battery is fitted but the original white Motorcraft battery with flat terminals has been kept for total original purposes. Unlike most rattly Ford ‘push-rod’ engines, this example is whisper quiet and the four-speed manual gearbox is slick and superlight.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The factory steel wheels of size 4½ x 13 are in perfect order with the original full wheel covers fitted and as new. The original seeking collector with be pleased to see factory fitted Michelin MX L 155/70 R13 tyres all-round which should be renewed if the car is to be put into use. Perhaps most impressive of all is the virgin spare tyre which even has the miniscule Michelin man logos to the tread face that would have been lost on the first journey! Fully overhauled in October 2024 after long term storage, the servo-assisted diagonally split brakes with 9½” discs up front and 7”drums at the rear are free and operate correctly, and during inspection and overhaul revealed themselves to be in spotless condition!

HISTORY FILE
Registered new on the 26th March 1992 by Meridian Ford Leicester, this exceptional example was purchased by Mr Thompson who was to be the only owner the car has had. A new vehicle order form and subsequent sales invoice is made out to Mr Thompson illustrating a price paid of £6,200 for this most basic of the Fiesta model. Sadly, quite soon after purchasing the vehicle Mr Thompson began to lose his sight which meant the car was left garaged and could not be used. The almost inconceivable 422 miles from new is absolutely genuine and until now, the car was last on the road in around 1996. Despite the clear lack of use, the car was kept on the road for the first fours years and there are four stamped Ford main dealer entries in the service book covering this period. In October 2024 the car was discovered and has since undergone a major service, recommissioning and brake overhaul using genuine Ford parts where possible. The history file has all welcome letters from Ford following initial purchase as well as all corresponding Ford service invoices and checklists. The first MOT certificate in 1995 has been kept as have all tax discs from 1992 to 1996. The full book pack is present with even the ford cardboard sleeve that the document wallet was supplied in! Three keys including the master blade and codes tags are present.

With confirmation of a Christmas 2024 Bullseye reboot, expect to this Fiesta, hazards flashing, be revealed from behind the curtain as ‘Bully’s Special Prize’, unless the contestants end up with just the BFH (bus fare home)! One owner, 422 miles and museum quality in every conceivable respect.

The car has covered a verified 30,120 miles from new and remains in stunning unrestored condition. The previous owner, Mr Morgan, purchased it from a club member after extensive searching and for nostalgic reasons. His late father had an identical one brand new and once acquired the personalised registration number was put on it and outings with his mother were enjoyed visiting all their family holiday destinations.

A comprehensive file of invoices and MOT records warrant the low 30,120 miles which accompany all handbooks and the service original book with 19 entries. A 1987 Ford range brochure with the front page displaying a black Ford Orion Ghia completes the history for this Orion Ghia Injection, the ultimate in sporting luxury!

Ford Puma 1.7i 16v

SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

A first production Ford Puma 1.7i 16v with one owner and 17,476 miles.

MODEL HISTORY
Towards the end of 1993 a group of designers from Ford’s Small and Medium Vehicle Centre were invited to present ideas for an exciting new coupe based on the Fiesta supermini. The Puma was the first small coupe Ford had ever made. By adding stiffer suspension, wider front and rear tracks, a close ratio gearbox and a brand new Yamaha-derived 1.7 litre engine, the team produced a car for the enthusiastic driver. The Puma was launched in March 1997 and hit UK showrooms in the July. It was an instant hit with the motoring press and its New Edge design language and the iconic television commercial featuring Steve McQueen and scenes from the film Bullitt helped its trendy image.

EQUIPMENT
Headlamp system with three projector lamps, tinted glass, variable ratio power assisted steering, anti-lock brakes, traction control, driver airbag, pyrotechnic front seat belt tensioners, electric height adjustable driver’s seat, perimeter alarm with Safeguard System immobiliser, remote central locking, aluminium finish interior, leather sports steering wheel, digital clock, power windows, stereo/cassette Model 5000. Factory Options; Cuirass Metallic Paint, air conditioning, electrically operated and heated door mirrors. Dealer Options; Tailored Puma carpet mats, Ford locking wheel nuts.

EXTERIOR
This extremely early car rolled off the production line on the 1st July 1997, the very month the Puma was launched in the UK! In addition to the kudos of being such an early car, and one of the oldest remaining in existence, further amazing credentials include one owner from new, 17,476 miles and total originality. The factory optional paintwork in very rare Cuirass Metallic, (Code J5), presents beautifully with a highly polished uniform finish. Incredible for a Puma, the sills, underside and wheel arches are original with no repair work undertaken and only a few marks, a true testament to the garage storage from new. Even the one-piece Ford exhaust system remains fitted! The one and only owner remarked that the car has only ever been a weekend toy and has never seen rain! Supplying dealer branded number plates and rear screen sticker remain, and all trim, glass and lights are immaculate. Almost unheard of in this condition.

INTERIOR
The first Puma’s offered just one option for trim and upholstery to the two front sports seat, twin rear bucket seats and matching door trim which was Alchemy Blue with Silverstone fabric trim, (Code VS). The interior throughout is quite incredible and could almost be described as showroom condition. The upholstery is pristine with no visible wear, as are the door cards, carpets and headlining. The Puma mats front and rear remain fitted and the conscientious owner even placed two further sets of mats over the top of them! The fascia with the aluminium surround is as new and all equipment, controls and gauges are seamless in operation, even the air conditioning is ice cold. As good now as it was in 1997!

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The utterly brilliant Puma’s 1.7-litre Yamaha-derived unit was the first Ford to use variable camshaft timing, (VCT). The power delivery is incredibly flexible and energetic with 85 per cent of peak torque being available at just 1500rpm. The air induction system is tuned for a raspier sound and combined with a free revving engine this power plant is immensely rewarding. The engine bay is totally standard, spotlessly clean with all plates, labels and stickers intact. The sublime close-ratio sports gearbox is precise and perfectly weighted. Weighing just 1,039kg, this is a real driver’s car and was able to upstage far more expensive sports cars when launched.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Distinctive ‘Fan Blade’ 6x15in light alloy wheels are unrestored and in remarkable condition with no kerb damage and just a few miniscule chips visible only upon very close scrutiny. Correct Pirelli P6000 tyres in size 195/50 R15 have excellent tread remaining. Servo assisted with vented front discs, anti-locking and Electronic Brake Force Distribution provide safe stopping power.

HISTORY FILE
A June 1997 built car, this example rolled off the production line on the 1st July, as confirmed by obtained Ford factory records, making it one of the UK month of launch cars. The car was supplied by Ford Main Dealers, Doe Motors Ltd of Witham in Essex, and date of registration was the 1st August 1997, the first day of R registration. Only a tiny handful of R prefix Puma’s remain today. The first and only owner was a Mr and Mrs Southgate who are named on the single owner V5 and purchase documentation including the new vehicle order form and sales invoice confirming the price paid of £15,331.92. The car has only ever been used as a dry use weekend car and strictly garaged at all times, and the pampered existence the car has led is clearly evident and a credit to the owner.

A full service was carried out in September 2024 using genuine Ford parts and a cambelt change was also carried out in September 2024 at main dealer, TC Harrison Ford in Peterborough, with supporting invoices and service book entry. There is a neat folder of invoices and every MOT from the first in 2000 to fully verify the incredibly low mileage. Further insight into the true enthusiast ownership is the owner’s membership of the Puma Drivers Club with all collectable Ford produced magazines kept. The only owner has provided a letter for the history file explaining his fastidious upkeep. There is also an Edition 1 1997 launch brochure and separate collector launch booklet. The original service booklet, owner’s manual, radio guides and associated point of sale literature remain in the Ford wallet, along with both keys and dealer fob. A special piece of Ford Heritage, a must have for the Ford collector.

HISTORY FILE
This RS2000 Custom was manufactured in July 1979 and first registered on the 1st August 1979 to Mr Paul Roadknight. Mr Roadknight ordered his dream car from his local RS Ford Dealer, Bristol Street Motors in Birmingham. After many years of hard work and saving he took the plunge and haggled a deal for £4,294.18 which represented a discount of £347.22 and a further saving of £135.01 by deleting the alloy wheels, later reinstated! The car was used sparingly for the first five years as evidenced by the MOT history until an incident caused him to park the car up in his garage for 36 years and never use it again. On a visit to his local shops, Mr Roadknight noticed three men surrounding his car so quickly returned to his pride and joy to drive home only to notice he was being followed. Having made a long detour, he eventually returned home, parked the car in the garage and paranoid about it being stolen, tragically never used it again. Discovered by an RS Owners Club Member in 2021, (photos exist in the history file of the discovery with it covered in dust), with one of the photos including Mr Roadknight now in his eighties. The car has now been fully recommissioned and on its first outing at the 2023 Lakes Tour, won Car of the Tour! Documentation with the car includes the original Registration Document, order form, new vehicle Invoice, Cadulac guarantee certificate, service book, handbooks, radio instructions and old MOT certificates. HISTORY FILE
Introduced in September 1981, this stunning example was built in April 1983 and is one of 2,600 UK examples and just one of 530 in Diamond White. (Source: RS Owners Club). Registered new on the 26th May 1983 by the Ford Motor Co Ltd in Brentwood Essex, it had one private owner, Mr Rose until September 1984 when Mr Robbert Goddard purchased it. Mr Goddard paid £6,700 plus £100 for the warranty Care Car Plan, (the same price the car cost new over a year earlier!), from Tower Garage (Stokenchurch) Ltd. Incredibly, the Goddard family remained the cars custodians until 2019 after Geoff Goddard inherited the vehicle from his father in 2012. Mr Goddard seniors ownership is beautifully detailed by his son in writing explaining fully his life with the car during their 35 years of ownership. The car has since been owned by RS Owners enthusiasts including Mr Gary Ball who had five White performance Escorts from the Mk1 Twin Cam to the mighty Mk5 RS Cosworth, all making the front cover of Classic & Sports Car in December 2020, a copy of which is included in the history file. Many historic invoices, emails between owners and a full complement of handbooks are contained within the blue Trimoco A5 folder. This example will please the most discerning collector wanting one of the very best examples in existence.

Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth

SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

A Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth with 9,180 miles and the same owner from new.

MODEL HISTORY
Five hundred extra special examples of the 150 mph Ford Sierra RS Cosworth went on sale in Britain on the 1st August 1987. This more powerful ‘evolution’ model was introduced to allow Ford to develop the original limited production run of 5,000 needed to allow the car to be homologated for International Touring Car Racing in Group A. Aston Martin at Tickford were assigned with converting the 500 cars and in addition to the more powerful 224bhp YBD engine, (with the potential to exceed 400bhp in race trim), numerous aerodynamic features were incorporated in the bodywork. These include a 30mm lip spoiler applied directly to the rear edge of the tailgate to increase rear downforce. New and larger cooling ducts were included in the design of the front bumper for the intercooler and the front brakes, as well as an aerodynamic splitter. Ford’s intention was for every RS500 to be finished in Black but limited stock of the regular Cosworths resulted in 56 Diamond White and 52 Moonstone Blue being converted. The vehicle was only available through 90 specialist Ford RS (Rally-Sport) dealers in Britain and was a £4,000 premium over a standard RS Cosworth. (Source: Ford News Release 87/76). HISTORY FILE
It is difficult to convey the amount and how comprehensive the history file is for this Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth build number 404/500. Built December 1986 at the Genk assembly plant in Germany to arrive at the Ford appointed Aston Martin Tickford factory on the 23rd July 1987. Works completed and signed off, the vehicle was dispatched on the 5th August to Stormont Ford Merseyside Limited to be supplied to its one and only custodian, Mr McIntosh. The original Telex order sent by Mr McIntosh along with purchase correspondence from Stormont Ford confirms the purchase by himself for the vehicle to be registered on the 25th August 1987 to his company, Church & Bramhall Sections Ltd. Upon retirement in August 2002 the vehicle was registered to him personally.

The new vehicle sales invoice reveals a price paid of £20,249.55 with a subsequent invoice for £332.48 for a Ford remote alarm, (now removed and replaced by a Thatcham Category 1 Toad alarm in 2011). Subsequently and without any doubt, Mr McIntosh was a fastidious owner retaining every document from Ford recall letters to regular service invoices and MOT certificates. This record keeping even extends to neatly filing every insurance cover note, tax disc and SORN letter. The history file not only confirms his care and upkeep for this pampered car but also his dedication for the RS brand by keeping annual RS Owner Club Membership letters and reaching milestone certificates and memorabilia for continual membership. Not one for public displays or shows, the vehicle was rarely seen out of his property but is obviously known and registered with the RS Owners Club. Such was his protection for the vehicle that when a house renovation commenced in 2022 and in fear of it being seen or worst still, damaged, he placed the car in secure temperature controlled storage locally. With the ongoing rise in values and public interest combined with poor health the very difficult decision was made to sell the vehicle and upon purchasing, KGF Classic Cars embarked on the Specialist Cosworth services of Harvey Gibbs at Supreme Car Services. A major service and cambelt change along with all fluids have been changed making the car A1 mechanically and ready for immediate enjoyment should the next lucky owner wish.
