On the 31st July 1979, the day before the car was registered, the conscientious owner requested Cadulac corrosion preventive treatment still visible today along with the guarantee certificate and receipt for £50. The polyurethane droop snoot is straight and perfectly colour matched housing a set of four crystal clear Cibie 60/55W quartz-halogen headlamps and correct Altissimo rear light clusters and Ford rear fog lamp. Genuine Ford mud flaps are fitted and all glass is correct Sekurit branded with the bronze tint. As the car is finished in Black, the Special Vehicle Order (SVO) sticker to the inner wing is amazingly still attached, with option 5AK-B/1 printed. Performance figures of 108.2mph top speed and 0-60 in just 8.5 seconds are quoted. The Type E standard four-speed gearbox snaps into gear perfectly.

HISTORY FILE
This RS2000 Custom was manufactured in July 1979 and first registered on the 1st August 1979 to Mr Paul Roadknight. Mr Roadknight ordered his dream car from his local RS Ford Dealer, Bristol Street Motors in Birmingham. After many years of hard work and saving he took the plunge and haggled a deal for £4,294.18 which represented a discount of £347.22 and a further saving of £135.01 by deleting the alloy wheels, later reinstated! The car was used sparingly for the first five years as evidenced by the MOT history until an incident caused him to park the car up in his garage for 36 years and never use it again. On a visit to his local shops, Mr Roadknight noticed three men surrounding his car so quickly returned to his pride and joy to drive home only to notice he was being followed. Having made a long detour, he eventually returned home, parked the car in the garage and paranoid about it being stolen, tragically never used it again. Discovered by an RS Owners Club Member in 2021, (photos exist in the history file of the discovery with it covered in dust), with one of the photos including Mr Roadknight now in his eighties. The car has now been fully recommissioned and on its first outing at the 2023 Lakes Tour, won Car of the Tour! Documentation with the car includes the original Registration Document, order form, new vehicle Invoice, Cadulac guarantee certificate, service book, handbooks, radio instructions and old MOT certificates. More recently, a letter from the owners friend and invoices relating to the recommission. Representing a rare opportunity to own an original low mileage and highly collectable sporting Ford.

HISTORY FILE
Introduced in September 1981, this stunning example was built in April 1983 and is one of 2,600 UK examples and just one of 530 in Diamond White. (Source: RS Owners Club). Registered new on the 26th May 1983 by the Ford Motor Co Ltd in Brentwood Essex, it had one private owner, Mr Rose until September 1984 when Mr Robbert Goddard purchased it. Mr Goddard paid £6,700 plus £100 for the warranty Care Car Plan, (the same price the car cost new over a year earlier!), from Tower Garage (Stokenchurch) Ltd. Incredibly, the Goddard family remained the cars custodians until 2019 after Geoff Goddard inherited the vehicle from his father in 2012. Mr Goddard seniors ownership is beautifully detailed by his son in writing explaining fully his life with the car during their 35 years of ownership. The car has since been owned by RS Owners enthusiasts including Mr Gary Ball who had five White performance Escorts from the Mk1 Twin Cam to the mighty Mk5 RS Cosworth, all making the front cover of Classic & Sports Car in December 2020, a copy of which is included in the history file. Many historic invoices, emails between owners and a full complement of handbooks are contained within the blue Trimoco A5 folder. Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth

SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

A Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth with 9,180 miles and the same owner from new.

MODEL HISTORY
Five hundred extra special examples of the 150 mph Ford Sierra RS Cosworth went on sale in Britain on the 1st August 1987. This more powerful ‘evolution’ model was introduced to allow Ford to develop the original limited production run of 5,000 needed to allow the car to be homologated for International Touring Car Racing in Group A. Aston Martin at Tickford were assigned with converting the 500 cars and in addition to the more powerful 224bhp YBD engine, (with the potential to exceed 400bhp in race trim), numerous aerodynamic features were incorporated in the bodywork. These include a 30mm lip spoiler applied directly to the rear edge of the tailgate to increase rear downforce. New and larger cooling ducts were included in the design of the front bumper for the intercooler and the front brakes, as well as an aerodynamic splitter. Ford’s intention was for every RS500 to be finished in Black but limited stock of the regular Cosworths resulted in 56 Diamond White and 52 Moonstone Blue being converted. The vehicle was only available through 90 specialist Ford RS (Rally-Sport) dealers in Britain and was a £4,000 premium over a standard RS Cosworth. (Source: Ford News Release 87/76). The unique silver coachline and RS500 decals are present and original as are dealer supplied front and rear number plates. HISTORY FILE
It is difficult to convey the amount and how comprehensive the history file is for this Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth build number 404/500. Built December 1986 at the Genk assembly plant in Germany to arrive at the Ford appointed Aston Martin Tickford factory on the 23rd July 1987. Works completed and signed off, the vehicle was dispatched on the 5th August to Stormont Ford Merseyside Limited to be supplied to its one and only custodian, Mr McIntosh. The original Telex order sent by Mr McIntosh along with purchase correspondence from Stormont Ford confirms the purchase by himself for the vehicle to be registered on the 25th August 1987 to his company, Church & Bramhall Sections Ltd. Upon retirement in August 2002 the vehicle was registered to him personally.

The new vehicle sales invoice reveals a price paid of £20,249.55 with a subsequent invoice for £332.48 for a Ford remote alarm, (now removed and replaced by a Thatcham Category 1 Toad alarm in 2011). Subsequently and without any doubt, Mr McIntosh was a fastidious owner retaining every document from Ford recall letters to regular service invoices and MOT certificates. This record keeping even extends to neatly filing every insurance cover note, tax disc and SORN letter. The history file not only confirms his care and upkeep for this pampered car but also his dedication for the RS brand by keeping annual RS Owner Club Membership letters and reaching milestone certificates and memorabilia for continual membership. Not one for public displays or shows, the vehicle was rarely seen out of his property but is obviously known and registered with the RS Owners Club. Such was his protection for the vehicle that when a house renovation commenced in 2022 and in fear of it being seen or worst still, damaged, he placed the car in secure temperature controlled storage locally. With the ongoing rise in values and public interest combined with poor health the very difficult decision was made to sell the vehicle and upon purchasing, KGF Classic Cars embarked on the Specialist Cosworth services of Harvey Gibbs at Supreme Car Services. A major service and cambelt change along with all fluids have been changed making the car A1 mechanically and ready for immediate enjoyment should the next lucky owner wish.

It was available as a road car from 1992-96 in limited numbers from Ford’s Specialist Vehicle Engineering, (SVE), Group. It combines the hand-assembled engine expertise of Cosworth and the coach-building crafts of Karmann. In order to accommodate the larger Cosworth engine and transmission Ford developed the car around the chassis and mechanicals of its predecessor, the Sierra Cosworth. A very rare car with only 7,145 examples being produced with this example being one of the very last. (Source Wikipedia, 1995 Edition One RS Brochure, RS Owners Club).

EXTERIOR
With 200 hours detail development in Fords own Cologne wind tunnel the rally-bred innovation of this pristine example is unmistakable and outwardly exhilarating. Finished in iconic Diamond White, (Code B 2), the finish can be described as impeccable thanks to the ultra-low mileage and indoor storage. The black lower bumper extension with front air splitter has no marks. All glass, lights and trim are in perfect condition. The underside of this 408 mile example is astonishing. Labels, stickers, tags and paint dabs are visible just as it left the factory. The light application of wax applied at the Rheine Assembly Plant with a yellow tinge has never been removed and this example is absolutely the blueprint to Fords scintillating Escort RS Cosworth.

INTERIOR
The interior of this late production Escort RS Cosworth is as new and exactly as Ford intended. The body-hugging Recaro seats adorned in Hexagon Grey Cloth, (Code L9), are sublime with complete fullness. All trim, switch gear and touch points are factory fresh in part due to the incredibly low mileage but also due to the owner wrapping protective film throughout. The door cards and all carpeting is perfect. Its lower rotor inertia, higher gas velocities and revised overboost strategy reduces turbo lag and improves drivability. 220bhp is quoted with 0-60mph obliterated in 5.7 secs and a top speed of 140 mph. To offer absolute piece of mind this example has been fully recommissioned in December 2023 by Cosworth Specialists, Harvey Gibbs at Supreme Car Services. The permanent Ferguson four wheel drive system with 34/66% front/rear power split mated to a MT 75 5-speed gearbox is a proven combination.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Genuine Ford RS 8 X 16” five soft-spoke alloy wheels built by Ronal are pristine and still shod in the specially formulated and factory Pirelli P Zero tyres developed for the Escort RS Cosworth. Electrically-controlled ABS anti-lock system with two microprocessors and ventilated front and rear discs offer immense stopping power having been recently overhauled.

HISTORY FILE
This iconic Ford Escort RS Cosworth was built in December 1995 at the Rheine Assembly Plant in Germany and registered new on the 22nd January 1997. According to Ford historians, the last ever Escort RS Cosworth was also built in November 1995 and left the Karman factory on 12 January 1996 with chassis number SP93313, (unfortunely this car has now been stolen). Still registered to the Ford Motor Company, this would make this one registered keeper with minuscule mileage, one of the very last few made!

Purchased by Rodney Fletcher, Proprietor of Rod Allen Cars at a Ford Closed Sale held by National Car Auctions on the 24th March 1997. The vehicle had covered 24 miles at this point as printed on the Lot sheet. Mr Fletcher covered 352 miles on Trade Plates before deciding to place it at the rear of his showroom surrounded by wall mirrors and marked up at a healthy £32,995. Knowing it was one of the last produced and no new examples were to be made, there it remained until March 2006 when a Ford enthusiast purchased it. The Used Car Sales Invoice reveals the purchase price of £32,995 along with two important letters. One from Rod Allen Cars asking the new owner not to modify or alter the original specification in anyway and if stored correctly and unused he would buy it back minus 10%. The other letter dated 31st March 2006 from Chris Shambrook, Manager Auction Sales at the Ford Motor Co, stating his predecessor, Mr David Berry, ‘remembers selling the white Cosworth at which time it had covered a nominal distance of twenty four miles’. At the point of sale in March 2006 the vehicle was fully serviced as evidenced in the history file and had its first MOT with 353 miles.

The new owner had one further MOT in 2007 when the car had covered 378 miles before wrapping the car in protective film and placing it in storage. As an Associate Member of the RS Owners Club, offers would arrive over the years but were declined until KGF Classic Cars were contacted in November 2022. Eventually we were successful in purchasing the car in November 2023! Now fully prepared to the exacting KGF Classic Cars meticulous standards and fully recommissioned by one of the country’s leading Cosworth Specialists, Harvey Gibbs of Supreme Car Services. The original book pack is present along with three keys including the red master, the car is perfect in every way and represents one of the most original, lowest mileage examples worldwide.

Supplied new by Ford Main Dealer, Stormont of Woolwich, and registered new on the 6th February 1986. The vehicle was registered new to Mr Trout who is the only owner the car has had! A loyal Ford fan and regular customer of Stormont, the Granada was a replacement for the owners 1984 Sierra which itself was a replacement for his 1982 Cortina! Remarkably the ownership trace for these three cars remains in the history file with corresponding order forms, sales invoices and part exchange purchase invoices from Stormont. The car was always garaged and used less with the owners advancing years.

After a period of dry storage, the car has now undergone a full recommission to include a major service, all fluids, oils, cambelt and brand-new premium tyres. A full brake overhaul including discs and pads all round has been carried out too. Two keys are present along with the Ford book pack with service book, file of invoices and an early 1986 Ford range brochure.
