GG11211 is build number 353 and has covered just 50,332 documented miles from new. Registered on the 31st March 1987 the car was supplied by Ford Main Dealer, John Grose of Ipswich. The original tax disc holder is still in the document wallet along with the original service book, operating guides and manuals. A large history file is neatly organised chronologically and begins with a letter dated May 1987 from John Grose Ford to the first owner, Mrs Betty Tax, apologising for incorrectly registering the car in a Mr Brown’s name! Including the incorrectly registered first keeper, this example has only has five former keepers from new. The file of invoices and service checklists date back to the very first interim service and MOT certificates date back to the first in 1990! The previous owner, Mr Mead, purchased the car in 2006 and in 2010 he commissioned respected professionals, Restore-A-Ford to undertake a full restoration at significant expense, the invoices for which are also in the history file. Photos to prove how sound and original the car was prior to any work exist and the owners quest for perfection created a double edged sword, a visually stunning car that he was too precious to drive anywhere. The decision to sell after 15 years was a difficult one but now presents a new owner with a fantastic opportunity.

Ford Motor Company’s ‘New Edge’ design language began with the original Ka as the first production Ford to adopt the radical exterior styling mostly recognised with its use of intersecting arcs and crisp lines. This exceptional Ka has covered just 7,141 miles from new and is finished in factory original Colorado Red, (Code M0). The bodywork and paint finish are simply outstanding with no markings worthy of mention. Cosseted by husband and wife from new, this garaged Ka has none of the common bodywork issues often found and the amazing underside still displays factory labels, long lost on most examples. INTERIOR
The interior of this cossetted example is beautifully clean and free from wear. The original Tic Toc fabric upholstery in Plum colour scheme, (Code PT), is spotless with no wear or damage to the fabric whatsoever. The carpets are pristine having been protected from new by Ford floor mats and the headlining is perfect. The steering wheel and gear knob display a total lack of wear due to the ultra-low mileage and ownership. HISTORY FILE
Registered new on 31st July 2006 by Main Dealer, Evans Halshaw Ford of Bedford, the car was purchased by Mr Dobinson who used the vehicle sparingly in retirement and kept the car garaged at all times when not in use. In 2015 following his passing, ownership transferred to Mr Dobinson’s wife with whom the car has remained with since. Having now covered just 7,141 miles from new, the condition of this time warp Ka is a credit to them both. The original Ford zip wallet contains the handbooks, guides and radio booklet as well as the service booklet containing 12 stamped entries, 11 of which are from the supplying Ford main dealer, Evans Halshaw. Every year without fail from new to 2017 the car was taken to Ford for servicing and a further independent service was carried out at 7,022 miles with corresponding stamped entry and invoice. A history folder contains service and maintenance invoices from Evans Halshaw as well as MOT history records to fully verify the ultra-low mileage. Completing the history file is an original Ka sales brochure along with two original Ford keys with Evans Halshaw fobs.

Debate over the pronunciation of the name Ka has continued since launch and whether it is to be said with a long or short “a”, or with the letters pronounced separately. Even Ford’s confused press office has used all three but the official Ford stance is with a short “a”! Whichever way you may wish to say it, the first examples are now 25 years old and the humble Ford Ka represents a superb value entry into classic car ownership, even more so with this incredible preserved example with just 7,141 miles from new! Be quick before too many people catch on!

HISTORY FILE
Factory build records confirm build number 3083 rolled of the production line on the 19th October 2003 ready to be dispatched to the supplying Ford Main Dealer, Polar Ford in Cheshire. Date of first registration was the 14th November 2003. First owner, Mr Bullimore, finally manged to acquire this example having been on the waiting list and having first written to the Ford Motoring Company Limited as early as 2002 requesting launch information on the forthcoming Ford Focus RS. Such was the demand, eager customers were prepared to pay well over odds to acquire one of these limited production cars, however Ford dealers were forbidden to sell over list price. As was the case with this example, some Ford dealers registered cars to employees and were then able to sell to a retail customer at their own discretionary price as a used car. Mr Bullimore finally acquired the car shortly after first registration and the original order form and sales invoice records a purchase price of £21,995 (£2,000 more than list price) and delivery miles on the odometer. The comprehensive history file contains letter from Ford to Mr Bullimore in reply to his request for pre-launch information as well as all purchase documentation and welcome letters. Having finally acquired his dream Ford, Mr Bullimore managed to complete the dream by sourcing an original and super rare press release tin still in bubble wrap and containing the CD, information booklet and four press release slides. All original handbooks, guides and special RS supplement are contained within the Ford leather RS wallet along with the service book containing four Ford main dealer stamped entries. Ford Escort MK1 1300E

SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

An unspoilt and rare Mk1 Ford Escort 1300E Campaign Model with only 7,490 miles.

MODEL HISTORY
The model’s name 1300E was born from a simple concept, a 1300cc machine with high-class accoutrements that resulted from a demand by Ford bigwigs for a luxury Escort, the ‘E’ was to stand for Executive. Ford’s specialist plant at Aveley was ailing with less than worthy profits so the development of the 1300E was the perfect opportunity to bolster its Advanced Vehicle Operations (AVO) division. Primarily based on the Escort GT specification, a 1300E started life as an Escort Sport from the Halewood Plant where it was given a slam panel data plate reading SPCL CAMPAIGN (Special Campaign) and fitted with a rectangular headlamp panel, upgraded cloth interior and painted in the specified colour. All but complete, the cars were then shipped to Aveley where an assembly facility added the 1300E extra equipment and trim. Workers who would usually be building the RS1600 and Mexico turned their hands to the 1300E which was assembled on a separate line. All pre-October 1973 1300E’s were completed at Aveley and helped to keep AVO viable, these cars being referred to as the Series One. The later cars or the Series Two were fully finished at Halewood and production finally ended on the 16th December 1974 with 6,768 two-door and 4,022 four-door cars built, according to Owner’s Club records.

EQUIPMENT
All steel welded integral construction, safety glass all round, anti-burst locks, bright metal ornamentation, flared wheel arches, rectangular Lucas sealed head lights, Lucas auxiliary lamps, side repeat flashes on front wings, vinyl roof, bright full width bumpers, special motif on rear pillars, door mounted exterior mirror, black rear panel with surround mouldings, special sound deadening pack, bright metal wheel rim embellishers, triple bodyside stripe, boot mat, two speed wipers, tachometer, Genuine wood veneer finish to upper and lower fascia, glove box, instrument binnacle, doors and rear quarter cappings. Finished in factory optional Amber Gold Metallic, (Code L), this example has covered a genuine 7,490 miles from new and is presented in outstanding unspoilt condition. The paintwork is near flawless having benefitted from a professional repaint in 2008. Photographs taken prior show the car in superb order with just some minor cosmetic deterioration from the cars long term storage. All panels are factory fitment and no structural repairs have ever been undertaken nor required. 1300E aficionados will recognise this Aveley assembled Series One by the fixed side rear windows as opposed to the openers fitted to the Series Two and the super eagle-eyed experts will note the incorrect 1300E wing badges. The correct badges for a Series One would read only 1300 but the first owner changed these as he wanted the car to be recognised unmistakably as a 1300E! Underneath the car is outstanding with the correct original slant rear shock absorbers in black to denote Ford units rather than the blue Armstrong parts as well as the black anti-roll bars and even the cardboard undertray which is long lost on most cars! All trim sections are original and in superb order with some very light tarnishing to some chrome pieces. A benchmark car for anyone wanting to recreate a factory correct Series One 1300E.

INTERIOR
A interior every inch as expected with the mere 7,490 miles covered. The ribbed cloth interior in Tan, (Code K1) is fitted as standard on the luxury 1300E and are in fantastic order. The wall-to-wall cut pile carpets, putty headlining and real wood veneer panels are all original with slight lineage to the passenger wood facia. All equipment and functions operate and the experts checklist will be ticked with correct smaller glovebox knob for earlier cars and incredibly there is even the cleverly concealed original ice scraper sat inside the centre console, long since lost or snapped on most cars! Inside the boot area is the original hessian bag with grey jack and black plastic inner light cluster protectors and lack of boot lamp, all correct for earlier cars. Even PDI tags are still affixed with string inside the boot area! Window etching to the factory glass is present along with the Triplex Hotline sticker in the rear screen. As close as you are likely to get to a 1973 showroom fresh 1300E interior.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Ford took the 1300cc Crossflow engine from the GT model which developed 72bhp and achieved 0-60mph in 13.3 seconds whilst reaching a top speed of almost 100mph. The factory fitted engine sits in a beautifully clean and unspoilt engine bay with all factory stickers, plates and labels and the original chassis stamping to the inner wing. The factory data plate reads SPCL CAMPAIGN (Special Campaign) which is correct for a Series One car. Originality even extends to the factory wing/slam panel seam welds, genuine Ford hose clips and washer bottle. The under bonnet insulation pads have been replaced. The four-speed manual gearbox is light and precise.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Five-inch sports styled road wheels are standard 1300E specification in silver fox with satin black inner sections as well as the rim embellishers, aluminium centre caps with black middle/chrome ring and the UNF chrome domed wheel nuts. Premium brand Michelin Energy tyres are fitted to all road wheel and original seekers with be delighted to learn that all five factory fitted Michelin ZX tyres in excellent condition have been retained having covered such low miles! GT-spec disc brakes were fitted to the front of the 1300E and this factory standard system feature servo assistance and even the original brake fluid reservoir cap reading ‘use FoMoCo brake fluid’.

HISTORY FILE
Built in March 1973 and registered new on the 1st August 1973, the car was supplied by Ford Main Dealers, Invicta Motors Ltd of Margate and Ramsgate. The first registered keeper was Mrs Skinner followed by her husband who owned the car until 2007. When the third owner bought the car from Mr Skinner it had covered just 3,450 miles! In 2008 a full re-paint was undertaken by professional experts, Mabel Coachworks in London. The history file is beautifully organised and presented with many photos of the car prior to the repaint proving how undamaged and rust-free it was. The history file traces all five owners in total and the large file contains the original handbook, tax disc holder from the selling dealer, invoices, previous MOT certificates, condition reports and agreed valuations. KGF Classic Cars are immensely proud to have acquired what is certainly one of the best, low mileage Mk1 1300E’s in existence.

Registered new on the 21st January 2006 by Main Dealers, TC Harrison Ford of Derby, the car was ordered new by Mr Peter Hart, a Ford Master Technician by trade. A lifelong vehicle technician in the motor trade with a huge appreciation for Fords, Mr Hart has previously owned sporting blue oval royalty to include Lotus Cortina’s, Escort RS2000’s and indeed this cars predecessor, a Mk1 Focus ST170. In the history file is the original vehicle order form and subsequent sales invoice made out to Mr Hart confirming the price paid of £18,845 less a part exchange allowance of £10,000 for his Panther Black Focus ST170 which at the time had only covered 11,600 miles! The neatly organised history file includes all the original Ford new vehicle literature as well as the separate welcome pack and special ST supplement. Ever the conscientious perfectionist, Mr Hart even printed out service and maintenance schedules. Another passion of Mr Hart was his self-restored BSA M20 motorbike that was used in World War II which he would take to shows using a small bike trailer. For this a discreet and detachable light duty tow bar was fitted. Upon his sad passing in 2017, the car was inherited by Mr Hart’s son, Darren, who has owned the car ever since. Darren has included a written account of his father’s ownership and devoted care for the car.

The Ford document wallet houses all handbooks, service book, guides and supplements along with the point-of-sale literature. Servicing was carried out by himself in his capacity as a Ford Master Technician and the cambelt was renewed in 2016 at 12,300 miles.
