ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
For drivers who rate low-cost motoring economy before performance, the Ami 8 Series with the 602cc air-cooled 35bhp is the perfect choice! The distinctive rumbling soundtrack is instantly familiar being shared with the 2CV along with the running gear and offers a truly unique and thrilling driving experience. Being like no other car today, is guaranteed to put a big smile on your face.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The original painted steel wheels with bright spotless chrome hub-caps are presented in impeccable order and support the Citroen Car Club approved 2CV MCC 125 R15 Radial tyres. HISTORY FILE
This rare UK RHD Citroen Ami 8 Series Confort was supplied new by Citroen main dealers, Bale & Co Ltd of Croydon, on the 16th September 1977 to a Mr D Alderton. This would make it one of the last to be produced before the Citroen Visa arrival. The original service book still contains the Citroen Service Card made out to Mr Alderton to be presented at service reception to reduce waiting times and further visits to the supplying dealer are stamped in the book. With only four subsequent former keepers, one of whom kept a diary with all maintenance work helping to prove the upkeep and care this example has enjoyed. Another noteworthy custodian is Robert Moss, company Director of the Chevronic Centre Ltd, specialists for Citroen classic cars. An information sheet included in the history file proudly boasts how he used the car for holidays to France several times after carrying out the restoration in 1998 on what was a structurally sound car to start with, also proven by photos in the history file. A testament to the works carried out is how well the car presents today over two decades later.

All handbooks, spare keys, manuals and a sales brochure are included. The car also featured in the 2010 movie, Never Let Me Go staring Keira Knightley. A DVD of the film is included in the history file! This really is the ultimate economical and dare to be different classic car!

Even scrutineers will struggle to detect anything other than minuscule markings and a few very light frontal stone chips. The electro-hydraulic Vario roof is seamless in operation. Originality seekers will be pleased to see the Mercedes dealer number plates and SLK experts will note a pre-facelift car with black sills, door handles and exhaust tail pipe, side repeaters in the front wings as opposed to door mirrors and earlier style bumpers. Not to be confused with the usual offerings, this is one very pampered SLK.

INTERIOR
Factory optional leather upholstery in Anthracite, (Code 221), is spotlessly clean with no notable wear. The comfortable seats are firm and retain correct shape and the matching door cards are perfect. Even the centre console has none of the flaking to the finish that seems to sully most examples! All trim sections and the fascia are immaculate and the controls and functions operate seamlessly including the Speedtronic cruise control/limiter, air conditioning and original Audio 10 CD system. Factory stickers remain in the spotless door shuts and inner boot lid and the luggage area holds the air compressor, first aid kit, warning triangle, tool roll, jack and Mercedes screen wash bottle, all present and in their place! Even factory codes remain stamped on the boot floor of this superbly original example.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The supercharged 4-cylinder engine displaces 2295cc to develop 193hp at 5300rpm and 280Nm torque output. Impressive performance credentials are quoted in the marketing literature of 0-62mph in 7.5 seconds with a top speed of 142mph. The engine bay is pristine and proudly displays the unmarked bright red ‘Kompressor’ rocker cover infill as well as factory stickers, bulkhead chassis stamp and slam panel stamping. The standard electronically controlled 5-speed automatic transmission operates precisely as it should with positive kickdown and both manual control and winter/sport modes. A show car in all respects.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The standard 16” alloy wheels in the Seven Hole Design wear the correct finish with diamond cut facings/spokes and are in superb condition with only a few light markings visible upon close scrutiny. Matching premium brand Michelin tyres of size 205/55 R16 front and 225/50 R16 rear show ample tread. The anti-lock braking system offers assured stopping power to install complete peace of mind.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new on the 27th May 1999, the first owner was a lady who had always been an avid fan of Mercedes and indeed two-seater convertibles having owned a handful of Triumph Spitfires after leaving university. Having taken an instant liking for the SLK when it was launched, in 1999 she decided to look for one with the insistence that it would have to be Silver paint over Black Leather just like the iconic colour scheme on 1950’s SL’s. Upon finding the waiting list was two years, she managed to find a UK specification car in the national paper brand new and being sold by one of many concessionaires. A sales invoice for the supply of one new Mercedes SLK 230 Kompressor confirms the price paid of £31,950.00. Used solely as a dry usage weekend car and for holidays, the car was garaged and cossetted before being inherited by her son in around 2015 who kept the car for a further seven years with just one keeper since, all fully traceable.

The Mercedes document wallet holds the service book with factory build card as well as all handbooks, guides and dealership literature. There are ten stamped entries in the service book from Mercedes Main Dealers and marque specialists with a major service in 2023 at 23,583 miles. In May 2024 the gearbox oil and filter and gear oil pan and seal were replaced at the same specialist. Incredibly, this superb example has never had an MOT advisory! A further folder contains Mercedes Main Dealer and specialist service invoices made out to mother and son owners as well as the subsequent third keeper. Three sets of keys remain with the car with leather Mercedes key fobs and there is an original sales brochure. Low mileage and cossetted R170 SLK’s are fast becoming desirable and this exceptional example in amongst the very best.

EXTERIOR
Finished in factory cost optional and rare Frost Blue Metallic, (Code 32L), the paintwork is quite incredible with a bright uniform shine and glossy polished finish. All body panels are pin straight and there are no bodywork issues and paintwork imperfections worthy of mention other than a miniscule ding to the edge of the front passenger door. The car has covered just 16,779 miles from new and has always been garaged, and the condition clearly reflects this even down to the very clean underside. All bumpers and trim are fully intact and even the wheel arch extensions are not sun-bleached, almost unheard of on a Mk1 Corsa and another clear sign of indoor storage! There is a very faint rub to the offside front bumper corner. Supplying Vauxhall main dealer number plates and rear screen sticker remain fitted and even the mud flaps retain bright white griffin badges. Rarely found in such exceptional and untouched condition and ready for the Festival Of The Unexceptional.

INTERIOR
This LS specification example is trimmed in original Grey Tivoli Fabric, (Code W8X), which is beautifully clean. The seat bases and bolsters are unworn but there is a tiny nick to the driver’s seat upper bolster and the fabric to the door cards is slightly shrunken. The carpets are super clean and remain protected by Vauxhall rubber over mats. The headlining is perfect as in the fascia, displays and switchgear. All controls, functions and displays are perfect in operation including the Philips SC201 stereo cassette with separate display screen. If you close your eyes, take a deep breath you can even get that new car waft! A lovely period Vauxhall interior, comfortable and functional.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The time tested four-cylinder 8V engine is renowned for longevity, liveliness and low running costs. The 1.4i (Hi-Torq) unit fitted to this LS develops 59bhp with a top speed of 96mph and 0-60mph in 14 seconds. Fastidious Vauxhall main dealer servicing and ultra-low miles mean the car performs impeccably and the engine bay is super clean with all factory labels, plates and stickers intact. The five-speed manual gearbox is taut and light.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The standard 13 x 5J wheels wear the original LS full wheel covers in superb condition with no cracks or kerb damage. Originality seekers will be pleased to see the factory fitted Michelin MXT 80 145/80 R13 tyres which retain excellent tread but should be renewed on age grounds if the car is to be used extensively. The factory supplied spare wheel has never seen the road and still has tyre nobbles and coloured banding within the tread. Dual circuit and servo assisted brakes with 9.3in ventilated front discs and 7.9in rear drums performs perfectly.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new on the 13th November 1993, this car is an early example with the model being launched the previous April. The supplying Vauxhall Main Dealer was Allams of Epson. Incredibly the car has benefitted from majority servicing and maintenance by the supplying dealership and there are 16 stamped entries in the service book from Allams of Epsom as well as accompanying invoices! Further stamps and evidenced servicing show just how well maintained this Corsa is and the most recent full service and cambelt change was carried out in June 2024. In June 1996 and at 5,162 miles, the speedometer assembly was changed at the supplying dealership. The new unit was set to zero and now reads 11,617 miles making the current mileage at 16,779. The speedometer change is documented with a main dealer invoice in the history file and an entry in the service booklet. The service history file is huge and primarily consists of a massive collection of main dealer invoices. The original document wallet holds all handbooks, guides and dealership literature and both sets of keys. There is also the new car invoice when new. Completing the history file is a Corsa range brochure. A wonderful example in every respect and sure to absolutely delight the next owner and retro car lover!
