EXTERIOR
A ‘mechanical whirlwind’ proclaimed Triumph in the marketing literature. This outrageously gigantic Triumph Rocket III with just 3,547 miles and one owner from new is finished in factory original Jet Black, (Code PG). This cherished machine is a visual masterpiece with the paintwork in stunning condition to the tank, mudguards and faring’s. Lashings of chrome boast a sparkling mirror finish and the vast array of genuine Triumph dealer accessories remain fitted, as does the supplying dealer number plate. Offering great practicality for touring trips and perfect for 2-up touring are the genuine hand crafted in England aniline 4mm thick Triumph leather panniers with liners. With three quick-release buckles to echo the Rocket’s triple theme and 28 litres per bag carry capacity and only a few very light scuffs, these really finish the look. The comfortable seats are in perfect condition, as are all switchgear, gauges and touch points such as grips, levers and pedals. Every inch the formidable showpiece, stunningly preserved and the ultimate cruiser.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Triumph engineers set out to dominate in the competitive cruiser market, against in particular Harley Davidson, Honda and Yamaha, and designers of the Rocket decided to up the ante by going for an engine displacement of 2294cc in an in-line three-cylinder unit. This whopping powerplant gave the Rocket III the largest engine displacement on any production motorcycle in the world, only surpassed by the 2019 2458cc Triumph Rocket 3. Masses of power of 140bhp and 200Nm of torque are mind-blowing, however Triumph wrongly claimed the Rocket made twice as much torque as any other motorcycle. They also famously hinted its pistons were shared with the Dodge Viper V8 muscle car, however the engine only had the same bore diameters, but not the same pistons! The engine casings, chrome covers and ancillaries are beautifully detailed and remain preserved in a condition found only on such low-mileage dry-stored examples, a small scuff to one exhaust tip being the only notable defect. The mile wide power band will pull impressively in any of the 5-speeds which all feel sturdy and operate perfectly.
WHEELS, SUSPENSION, TYRES & BRAKES
The original alloy wheels of size 17 x 3.5inch front and a colossal 16 x 7.5inch rear retain the correct finish of black spoke infills and high polished outer facings. The rims look superb with light hairline spidering underneath the lacquer, particularly to the front. Replacement premium brand Metzler Marathon Ultra tyres retain masses of tread. The suspension components are as new and the braking system features huge twin 320mm front discs with 4 piston callipers and a 316mm rear disc with 2 piston calliper to bring this powerful behemoth to a stop.
HISTORY FILE
Registered new on the 19th August 2006, the supplying dealership was Laguna Motorcycles in Maidstone. The new motorcycle order form and subsequent sales invoice is made out to Mr Worsfold who is the first and only owner since new! A vast array of genuine options was chosen from the Triumph Accessories Range, no fewer than 22, bringing the total pre-discount price to £13,500! Despite covering minimal mileage, the owner insisted on main dealer servicing with six services carried out at Triumph, mostly by the supplying dealer. The most recent visit was in January 2026 at the supplying dealer with supporting invoice for £683.39. All previous service invoices and checklists have been kept dating even back to the PDI check sheet in 2006. An A4 file of neatly organised documentation is included along with sales brochures with the owners scribbles and ticks when choosing may of the accessories!
Awarded various accolades following launch including Machine of the Year by Motor Cycle News (MCN) at the 2004 NEC Motorcycle Show, the Rocket Series remains highly regarded as a sheer indulgence of brut power. This impeccable, one owner, well maintained and ultra-low mileage specimen must not be overlooked.
