INTERIOR
The Recaro front seats are supportive, comfortable and stylish and are unworn and correctly shaped thanks to the incredibly low mileage covered. Finished in Ascot fabric, (Code LA), the material to all areas is pristine and even the lumber support pads are in their packets as supplied when new! The colour-keyed non-woven velour carpets are immaculate and the leather covered sports steering wheel and gear lever are among the more visible expressions of the performance credentials, all in immaculate factory fresh condition. The black instrument binnacle has no distortion and all gauges, micro-switches and driver controls function correctly, as does the Ford Keycode radio cassette. The boot area remains unused and even the fragile soft-feel side wall and wheel arch trims are unmarked. Outstanding and the holy grail to all Ford RS perfectionists.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The 1.6 OHC fuel injected engine with Garrett AiResearch T2 turbo charger and intercooler produces 131bhp and 183Nm of torque. Figures are quoted at 7.7 seconds to 60mph and a top speed of 127mph to make this a true ‘hot hatch’. The engine bay is simply incredible with vibrant coloured plastics, clips, hoses and fasteners all standard. Delicate Ford labels, warning stickers and even the Ford red ignition leads remain fitted. The often misplaced plastic battery cover remains attached. The 5-speed transmission works seamlessly with a progressive clutch action and short shift.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The three-spoke light alloy wheels are specially reserved for the Fiesta RS Turbo and remain unmarked shod in Dunlop 185/55 R14 tyres with masses of tread. The servo-assisted diagonally split brakes with 241mm ventilated discs up front and 203mm drums at rear, stop the car in a safe and steady manner.
HISTORY FILE
This fantastic example of Ford’s first RS Fiesta was supplied by Ford Main Dealers, Quicks of Chester Limited, on the 8th August 1991 to Lee Robert Hannam. A passionate Ford enthusiast and a member of the RS Owners Club who part exchanged his 1990 Ford Fiesta XR2i against a total purchase price of £12,436, as revealed by the New Vehicle invoice. The fascinating history file reveals everything from the original order, Ford credit agreement, early supplying dealer service invoices and MOT certificates. As Lee also owned a S2 Ford Escort RS Turbo, the Fiesta was taken off the road in August 1996 having covered 3,794 miles and placed in careful storage. Very sadly Lee passed away and ownership transferred to his father, David Hannam in May 2016, with David being only the second recorded keeper. Booked into Ford main dealer Evans Halshaw in August 2016, the vehicle was fully recommissioned before the family made the painful decision to sell the car in 2018 along with the Escort RS Turbo. The vehicle has remained road worthy, with MOT records since and a major service and cambelt change carried out in March 2026. Supplied with all handbooks, service book and a full complement of keys. An A4 folder contains all chronically filed documents with a new car sales brochure and magazine road test from the period. With a short production of just two years from 1990 to 1992, prior to the introduction of the Fiesta RS1800, this represents a truly rare RS Ford and undoubtedly one of the best, unmolested examples in existence.
MOT February 2027, HPI Clear.
