Finished in the factory coating of Sky Blue, (Code 4185), the paintwork is outstanding throughout and fully commensurate with the uber-low mileage. All original body panels are pin straight with no damage or repairs undertaken, and the underside is structurally perfect. Nothing other than tiny touched in scratches are worthy of mention. The two-piece bumpers, Thorax DOT etched glass, lights, badges and trim sections are all perfectly preserved. The supplying dealer number plates, rear screen sticker, Lombard RAC Rally sticker and Lacro Diamond Brite label remain fitted. One of Britain’s best value for money cars and cossetted from new in the hands of a fanatical Skoda enthusiast family, this example certainly is amongst the best survivors.
INTERIOR
A preserved incredibly sturdy and utilitarian interior, exactly as intended. The surprisingly plush black seat fabric with vinyl side seat trim remains in pristine condition and entirely commensurate with the miniscule mileage. The black vinyl door cards are fully intact and still wear undamaged door pockets which were standard on the elaborate 130L. The carpets, more akin to sandpaper, exude durability over opulence are exactly as they left the factory and remain protected by the original sturdy Skoda tray mats. Totally untouched even down to the dot labels on seat-belt buckles, supplying dealer tax disc holder, gear shift diagram sticker, rear door chrome child lock stickers and even the ultra-rare factory identification code affixed to the rear-view mirror, usually removed upon PDI. The huge front luggage compartment with quirky side hinged hood is spotless and still has the protective mat, spare bulb kit and tool roll as well as bulkhead chassis stamp, VIN plate, AZNP build plate and delicate labels. A well-appointed interior in a car that at the time was offered hundreds of pounds cheaper than other saloons with similar specification!
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The rear mounted 1289cc four-cylinder OHV engine is factory fitment and famed for its toughness and ability to cope with the harshness of its Eastern Bloc origins. The most powerful Estelle model available and matching that of the sporting Rapid and Cabriolet, power output quotes 58bhp at 5000rpm and 97Nm of torque at 2850rpm. The sales brochure quotes peak speed at 93mph. The engine compartment is pristine and complete with the original bagged jack and even the fragile Data card sticker remains on the blue air filter housing. More astonishing are the delicate paper stickers to the boot lid soundproofing still being attached! Skoda proudly boasted the introduction of a 1300cc engine and 5-speed gearbox to their top saloons, and this example performs impeccably.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Factory fitted 13” alloy wheels in excellent condition remain fitted with perfect Skoda centre caps and even the wheel nut covers. The purists and those seeking maximum originality will note the perfect factory fitted 165 SR 13 Goodyear Grand Prix S tyres still fitted, although these should be renewed and stored should the new owner wish to use the car. The servo-assisted dual-circuit braking system works very well.
HISTORY FILE
An endearing history for a very special car! Supplied new by Skoda Main Dealer, Clarion Cars of Worthing, this Estelle Two 130L was destined for a cherished existence! Date of registration was the 26th March 1987 and the first owner was Mrs Wyatt. All purchase documentation including the sales invoice confirms the price paid of £3,579.59 less part exchange allowance of £1600.59 for the family’s 1984 Estelle 120L. The Wyatt family at this point had long-been Skoda enthusiasts with a pattern of new Skoda purchases being kept for ‘Sunday best’ while the previous best car was relegated to ‘Dad’s work car’. This never happened with this example as a rear end shunt in the family’s 1980 Super Estelle meant Mr Wyatt was unable to drive for quite some time and D603WAP was garaged. The car was regularly started and driven and the annual MOT was upheld. Eventually Mr Wyatt resumed driving, however by then it was the early 1990’s and his son had started snapping up further Estelle’s and Rapid’s for the going rate then of £50-£250. This meant the driveway was always full and getting the garaged 130L out became a chore. This also meant that the condition and mileage of D603WAP was preserved!
The amazing history file tracks ownership from new whereby the car was passed from Mrs Wyatt to her Husband and then their son. The mileage is fully verified by all MOT certificates kept dating back to the first in 1990 as well as extensive service and maintenance records. All handbooks and sales brochures have also been kept and both keys are present each with supplying dealer keyring. Even the tax disc holder is unused and remains in its packaging. A letter from Mr Wyatt (Son) tells the story of the car and the family’s love affair with these charming little cars. The most recent service was carried out in January 2026. This must be among the very best examples in existence.
MOT February 2027, HPI Clear.
