EXTERIOR
Wow, what fun this very presentable and useable example is finished in original White and Red colour scheme. All plastic faring and mud guards are fully intact with only faint markings as is the headlamp cowling with one touched in fingernail size chip. The white fuel tank gleams brightly with no dings and immaculate decals. The frame has been professionally restored and looks fantastic, yet the stock VIN stamping is clearly legible to correspond with that on the engine of this matching numbers machine. The flat Red dual seat is perfect with the vibrant white Yamaha logo proudly on display. The motocross leading axle front forks have red rubber gaiters free front splits. All rubbers, grips, trim and stickers are undamaged and bright. Super!
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
An uprated DT50MX comprising of a 65cc Airsal Alloy Nikasil plated cylinder kit. The engine has been fully rebuilt with new bearings, seals, and the crankshaft rebuilt with new big end and rod kit. The clutch is uprated to handle to increase in power and further advanced specification includes a 24mm carburettor and Jamarcol front exhaust pipe and DT50 Big One silencer. The engine casing and ancillaries are refinished and look superb with the engine number clearly visible. The upgrades transform the bikes performance and road characteristics with 300 joyful miles covered since rebuild. The bike starts easily and runs and rides beautifully. The engine shut off switch is inoperative and the Autolube system disconnected as part of the uprating requiring use of premix. The 5-speed transmission is smooth and precise.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The full-size Takasago wheels measuring 21-inch front and 18-inch to the rear are in good condition with bright chrome and new spokes. Some minor markings to the rims are visible and the Takasago rim stampings clear to see. Vee Rubber 2.75-21 front and 3.00-18 rear remain super knobbly with plenty of tread. Lightweight conical wheel hubs house the Yamaha designed labyrinth seal drum brakes to make them completely weather-proof to maintain good stopping power.
