The ultimate MG ZR is this top of the range 160 model in arguably the most desirable colour Trophy Yellow, (Code FAR) and with only 11,695 miles is very unique. The polished paintwork gleams and all panels are straight and free from dings and scuffs. There are a few frontal stone chips and scratch to the bonnet which have been carefully touched in. Supplying MG dealer number plates and rear screen sticker remain fitted and the sporting trims, bumpers and rear spoiler are in excellent order. The MG and ZR badges and 160 ingot are bright and untarnished. A tremendous example, very difficult to find with such credentials.

A spotlessly clean and unspoilt interior with prominent sporting appeal, a far cry from its traditional Rover origins! The figure-hugging Monaco part leather upholstery with colour keyed inserts, (Code LFA), are unique standard specification in the 160 and are in perfect condition with firm bolsters and no fading whatsoever. The sports steering wheel proudly displays the MG emblem and the carbon effect inserts remind the driver of the sporting credentials. The headlining and carpets are immaculate, the latter having been protected from new by MG tailored carpet mats. Factory standard equipment and functions are operational including the original Kenwood stereo system but the LCD clock display has faded. The boot area and parcel shelf are super clean. A beautifully clean and unspoilt interior.

The ultimate four-cylinder 1796cc VVC, (Variable Valve Control) engine produces 158bhp enabling a top speed of 131mph and 0-60 in just 7.4 seconds, this is a quick hot hatch! The engine compartment is super clean and displays factory plates, stickers, panel stampings and even PDI markings, usually lost on all weather higher mileage examples. Specific to the 160 is the 5-speed sports ratio gearbox and short throw gearshift which mated to this free-revving lively engine, is a thrill to use.

Factory standard fitment to the 160 are 17-inch ‘Straights’ alloy wheels which are in pristine condition and shod in brand new premium quality Bridgestone 205/45 ZR17 tyres. The MG centre caps are slightly delaminated. The unused space saving spare wheel still has tyre nobbles and the jack and tools remain in the polystyrene holder. The ABS controlled brakes with Electronic Force Distribution feature 282mm front and 260mm rear disc brakes to pull this rapid car up steady and straight.

This ultra-low mileage MG ZR 160 was registered new on the 19th September 2003 by supplying MG Rover Main Dealer, Caffyns PLC in East Sussex. The first owner was a lady who was bought the car by her husband and yet was reluctant to drive it as she found it too fast! The original vehicle order form and subsequent sales invoice have been kept and show a list price of £15,020.00 which has been altered with the quote ‘mega deal – £12,845.00’ which is the final invoice price! In September 2022 and when the odometer read just over 5,000 miles, the original lady owner gifted the car to her niece who has covered a fun filled further 6,000 miles. The large history file is neatly organised and includes welcome letters from the supplying dealer as well as a further letter following the collapse of MG Rover whereby the dealer assures the owner that they will honour the outstanding warranty in lew of the now defunct manufacturer warranty! There are service invoices dating back to the first in 2004 as well as all MOT records from the first in 2006. The original MG handbook/service book is present along with a ZR/ZS range brochure and MG Owners Club letters.

KGF Classic Cars are delighted to have sourced this example whereby a major service has been undertaken to include absolutely all oils, fluids and filters as well as cambelt, VVC belt, tensioner and water pump and brand-new brake discs and pads all round. Virtually impossible to find in this condition and not to be confused with the majority of thrashed examples!
