A Concours D’Elegance competing Volkswagen Corrado 16V in Nugget Yellow.

EQUIPMENT
Large covered bumpers in vehicle colour, speed dependant electronically raised rear spoiler in vehicle colour, black front spoiler, black trim around windows, side rubbing strips, electrically heated and adjusted door mirrors in vehicle colour, air deflector on driver’s wiper arm, broad beam halogen headlamps, laminated windscreen, green tinted heat insulating glass, power assisted steering, central locking, leather trimmed sports steering wheel, Blaupunkt Atlanta SQR 47 stereo cassette, multi-function digital computer. Factory Options; Electric sunroof, electric windows, leather upholstery. Dealer Options; BBS Alloy wheels, TOAD AI606 security alarm.

EXTERIOR
This astonishing very early Corrado is finished in the highly sought after and arguably most coveted colour of Nugget Yellow, (Code D4). The amazing paintwork boasts a stunning bright shine and uniform finish to really highlight this vibrant colour and all bodywork panels are beautifully straight with linear shut lines. There are barely any imperfections worthy of mention other than a touched in chip to the driver’s door. All trim sections and badges are immaculate and the supplying dealer number plates and rear screen sticker remain. This very car has gained huge respect and admiration in many Concours D’Elegance judging events as well as being in several magazine features and represents a highly collectable example.

INTERIOR
A truly spectacular interior with the sports seats finished in rare factory optional Black Leather, (Code YD), with the matching door and side panels. The interior is beautifully clean and the seat bolsters remain perfectly shaped with only very light hairline crazing to the leather on the driver’s seat outer bolster. The high-quality fascia and interior are in perfect order with fully functioning equipment throughout including the factory fitted Blaupunkt Atlanta SQR 47 stereo. The luggage area including boot carpet and immaculate parcel shelf are in fine order and the spotless boot floor area still has the factory build label. Perfectionists will adore the pristine door apertures and even the uniquely sited warning triangle zipped into the rear central armrest. A near perfect interior throughout.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Volkswagens four-cylinder 16V engine displacing 1781cc needs little introduction with power output of 136bhp and 162Nm of torque quoted. A top speed of 132mph is very impressive and 0-60mph is achieved in just 8.1 seconds. The engine bay itself is beautifully clean and fastidiously detailed even down to the under-bonnet insulation which is as new. In perfect mechanical condition, the driving experience is second to none with features such as a genuine VW exhaust system and the electronically extending rear spoiler raising at higher speeds working as it should. The 5-speed sports gearbox is positive and is a joy to use.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Dealer fitted optional BBS alloys are highly sought after additions and look sensational with immaculate BBS centre caps. Matching premium brand Continental 195/50 R15 tyres have plenty of tread. Powerful brake discs all round, ventilated to front, offer steady and assured stopping power.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new on the 27th November 1989 by Volkswagen Main Dealer, Karmann in Barnet, this example is a very early car on a G prefix registration. This Nugget Yellow example has covered just 68,570 miles from new and has been enthusiast owned throughout. In 2010 the car was purchased by Karl Fasulo as he was in the process of launching KGF Classic Cars and the opportunity to buy the car back 13 years later is an emotional experience. Reminiscent of the days when he and his partner Rosie, now wife, would travel the country in the evenings after work to find unique classic cars in order to set up the business, this Corrado holds very special memories. The car was subsequently sold to the Chairman of the VW Corrado Club of Great Britain who owned two other examples. The following and most recent owner was indeed the Founder of the club, so the car has enjoyed very passionate and knowledgeable ownership! Respect and admiration in many Concours D’Elegance judging events is evidenced in the large history file with judging score sheets and there is also magazine and classic car newspaper publications whereby this actual car has been used as the benchmark for buying guides.

The original V.A.G grey document holder contains all the owner’s manuals, instructions pamphlets and dealer literature as well as the service book. The large service history file contains many main dealer invoices and all recent MOT’s have been carried out by VW with accompanying Health Check lists. A video of the latest Health Check confirms by the Master Technician that it is, ‘the best he has ever seen’. The most recent service was carried out using genuine VW parts in May 2023 and the cambelt was changed in July 2023. Two keys are present and a sales brochure. One of the best.
