Full Description

A sensational launch colour Yamaha YZF-R1 with one owner and 1,993 miles.

Born from MotoGP, the Yamaha YZR-M1 gave inspiration to the 2009 YZF-R1. The visionary behind the M1 was that much of the technology that Valentino Rossi and his fellow Yamaha MotoGP riders developed on track would ultimately be used by Yamaha’s Supersport Project to create better motorcycles for the street rider. A vital combination of Yamaha’s Art of Engineering and Art of Racing philosophies saw the use of some of the latest embodiments such as the crossplane crankshaft and YCC-T (Yamaha Chip Controlled-Throttle). Technology that has seen Rossi win seven MotoGP World Championships and countless MotoGP race wins, the YZF-R1 uses more of this technology than any previous R1.

Cobra-eyed front end, aerodynamic outer skin faring, airflow advantage layered inner skin, aluminium Deltabox frame, sculptured 18 litre fuel tank, multi-adjustable suspension, 2-way adjustable Truss-Type swingarm, 43mm telescopic front forks, lightweight 5-spoke alloy wheels, twin projector headlights, 32-bit ECU, YCC-T (Yamaha Chip Controlled-Throttle), YCC-I (Yamaha Chip Controlled-Intake), instrument panel with D-Mode display, D-mode electronic control system, TCI ignition system, toolkit, pillion seat, lockable fuel filler, electric start, engine kill switch, neutral indicator, rev counter, gear indicator, digital readouts for engine temperature, fuel, speed, odometer, trip, and clock. Genuine Yamaha accessories; Race type single seat cover, tank protector. Accessories; Akrapovič racing line exhaust silencers, (original mufflers unused), electronic smart charger.

Not to be confused with the norm, this one owner example with just 1,993 miles is simply spectacular. Factory finished in the launch colour of Competition White, (Code BWC1), the condition is virtually as new. Aside from a few miniscule stone chips to the Cobra-eyed front end, the body panels, frame and all trim are immaculate. All light fittings and the perfect LCD display are crystal clear and the switchgear and hand/feet touch points are as new. All factory decals, stickers and labels are present and correct and the identification and information plates and stock frame number stamping are clearly legible. A genuine Yamaha tank protector was applied new by the conscientious owner and the supplying dealer numberplate remains fitted. A genuine Yamaha Race type single seat conversion as well as the fitting of Akrapovič racing line exhaust silencers with removal baffles was carried out by the supplying dealer when the bike was new. Subsequently, the original exhaust set up and seat/rear frame components have been kept and are unused and have been carefully stored should the next owner wish to easily revert back. The untouched full toolkit is present. A highly collectable example of this iconic Supersport machine

Launched in a wave of excitement using the 4-cylinder liquid cooled 998cc 4-stroke DOHC unit featuring TCI electronic fuel injection and unique crossplane crankshaft, power output equates to 180hp at a stonking 12500rpm and 115.5Nm maximum torque at 10000rpm. With a wet weight of just 206kg, this lightweight machine offers phenomenal performance. The exposed elements of the engine and all ancillaries are spotless. The 6-speed constant-mesh one down five up gearbox performs perfectly and is very easy to use. Awesome fun!

The racy lightweight 17in alloy wheels in factory satin black are in pristine order with no damage. Dunlop Sportmax D210 120/70 ZR17 front and 190/55 ZR17 rear tyres retain all their sticky tread. The powerful brakes feature a 310mm dual front disc and 220mm rear disc to offer tremendous stopping power.

Registered new on the 21st July 2009 by Yamaha Main Dealers, Len Manchester Motorcycles of Melton Mowbray, this example has covered just 1,993 miles from new with one owner. Clearly an out and out petrolhead, Mr Wilkins purchased the bike whereby it sat alongside his Mercedes C63 AMG and Ford Capri 3.0S that has been in the family since 1982!

The original Len Manchester Motorcycles plastic wallet contains the service book stamped by the supplying dealer along with the handbook and three keys including the red master key. The PDI check sheet and welcome pack have also been kept along with a factory recall letter for a headlight defect that has been carried out. Completing the history file is a 2009 Yamaha Supersport sales brochure covering this YZF-R1 and the YZF-R6 as well as the Limited Edition Insider magazine literature dedicated to this model with rare CD Rom and presentation envelope. The bike is booked into Yamaha Main Dealer, Webbs Motorcycles of Peterborough, for a major service and its first MOT test.
