EXTERIOR
The exterior of this AK 427 is nothing short of spectacular with pristine detailing. Finished in Metallic Daytona Grey with Iridium Silver racing stripes, (Code LZ75/775), the paintwork boasts an incredible shine guaranteed to set the pulses racing. The highest quality hand laid GRP gel coated body of monocoque construction is structurally perfect. The Iridium Silver racing stripe is unblemished and compliments the gleaming paintwork beautifully. Tiny stone chips to the front facing surfaces are the only imperfections to an otherwise perfect finish. The expensive chromed brass brightwork is entirely immaculate throughout and the polished alloy stoneguards having served their purpose of protecting the paint have only the faintest pitting. Built to an equally impressive specification and standard, this AK-427 is the ultimate showpiece.

INTERIOR
The interior of this example certainly resonates the high-quality finish of the exterior. The seats and door panels are finished in beautiful Raven black leather with contrasting Ivory piping which is perfect with no wear or damage whatsoever, commensurate with the usage of just 4,312 miles. The matching black soft finish dashboard is flawless and houses fully functional Savage Range switchgear and Smiths Instruments with chrome surrounds. The dove grey carpeting continues over the transmission tunnel and behind the seat area and is pristine. Full weather protection consists of a hood and tonneau, specified as a factory order option and as new. Additional easy detachable side windows complete the ‘all weather’ option available with this car.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
A formidable monster at heart! A Chevrolet 383 cubic inch block equates to 6.2 litres of pure V8 pleasure. Fully rebuilt and assembled by Mike Huddart of Huddart Racing Engines in Crewe, the specification features Holley 750 twin carburettors, HEI electronic ignition and mini high torque starter. Dyno tested at build and covering just 4,312 miles, the power output was recorded and documented, along with the full engine build, at 465lbft torque and 454bhp at the crank. The optional stainless steel and chrome engine bay detailing and gorgeous V8 burble are equally delightful and the twin underslung exhausts eliminate the risk of scorched legs often associated with side exit configuration. Ease of driving is massively aided by the power assisted steering with BMW E34 rack and the 5-speed new at build Tremec TR-3550 gearbox is sturdy yet fairly light in operation. A raw and phenomenal beating heart.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Image International supplied Halibrand 17in Replicas feature chrome spinners and are in impeccable condition with only a tiny chip to the offside rear rim. Shod in quality Toyo Proxes T1R 217/50 ZR17 front and 255/45/ZR17 rear, the tyres have plenty of tread remaining. Dual circuit servo assisted brakes with vented front discs offer ample stopping power.

HISTORY FILE
This stunning AK 427 was supplied in component form by renowned and revered Cobra replica specialists AK Sportscars of Peterborough and first registered on 21st February 2008. With one owner from new, the order was made by husband and wife team, Richard and Marie Robinson, who in March 2006 embarked on the incredible project to build their own AK-427 Cobra replica. AK Sportscars Managing Director, Jon Freeman, and Workshop Manager, Bob Hemming, were on hand in an advisory capacity due to the owners living local and were a huge support to the ownership throughout the entire experience. The history file as such, although it is far more than just a file of receipts, is a self-tilted ‘This Is Your Life’ novel/encyclopaedia/diary of absolutely everything from the AK Sportscars order form and invoice to the final product! The huge files of paperwork, work logs and diaries would take days to peruse fully and includes a record of every nut, bolt and clip used as well as the full detailed specification. A daily log of works was meticulously recorded even including interruptions where the Christmas Tree needed to be put up! A further log contains details of journeys taken and fuel station fill ups as well as fluid checks, tolerances and pre-journey inspections. This thrilling example has clearly been prepared to the upmost exacting standards which portrays through the awesome driving experience, and having covered just 4,312 miles from new. A full nut and bolt check over was carried out by AK Sports Cars prior to the sale to offer the new owner additional piece of mind. A fabulous example without the time and build cost investment and ready for the new owner to enjoy.
