Factory options; Black paintwork, heated windscreen. Dealer options; Mud flaps, tailored Ford carpet mats, headlamp protectors, Ford Extra Cover plan.

EXTERIOR
This exceptional original Ford Sierra Sapphire is in rare surviving GLS trim, and as part of Ford’s genius marketing strategy of producing a model for every taste, it features fully independent sports suspension to offer buyers a mid-range sports model over the standard GL. Having covered just 43,081 miles from new with one owner until 2017, the Ford Black paintwork, (Code A9) has a deep glossy shine and uniform finish to the factory application. There is a tiny ding to the front offside wing and one to the bonnet along with very minor stone chips, utterly insignificant. The correct Mid Grey paintwork to the lower sections of the car remains exactly as Ford intended and all matching plastic trim is fully intact with only tiny markings. Originality seekers will be pleased to see all factory etched glass, genuine Ford light fitments, Carello headlamps and supplying dealer number plates and rear screen sticker all present and correct. A very rare find in such incredible condition.

INTERIOR
The Strobe trim in Shadow Grey colour scheme, (Code LD), is clean and in very good order with firm bolsters and bases. The matching door cards have some shrinkage to the fabric, a common occurrence, and some markings. Protected by genuine Ford carpet mats, the colour-keyed velour carpet is immaculate and free from wear and the neutral tone headlining is excellent. The fully intact dashboard has no cracks, owing to the conscientious first long-term owner having a tailored dash top cover made. All switchgear is functional and intact, and the original Ford stereo radio/cassette (Model 2005) remains fitted and fully operational. The spotless boot area has immaculate carpeting, an undamaged circular ply-board wheel cover and all factory build stickers are intact. A very rare modern classic Ford remaining exactly as intended.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The 2.0 DOHC EFi engine develops 125bhp at 5500rpm and 174Nm of torque at 2500rpm, achieving a top speed of 121mph and 0-60mph in 9.1 seconds. Remaining in standard specification, the engine bay is spotless and displays factory plates, stickers and original inner wings with Ford emblem and date stamps clearly visible. The five-speed synchromesh gearbox is light and effortless.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The original 14” X 5½ ” steel wheels wear the correct genuine trims, unique to the GLS model. Having been sourced recently as brand-new old stock items, the trims are as new and even the Ford packaging has been kept! Matching 195/60 R14 tyres have recently been fitted new and the spare wheel has the original Uniroyal Rallye tyre still fitted! The dual line servo assisted G-Valve brakes with ventilated 10.5” front discs and rear drums bring the car up to a steady, straight and assured halt.

HISTORY FILE
Supplied new by Ford Main Dealer, Trimoco of Chelmsford, Essex, and registered new on 1st January 1990, the vehicle was purchased new by Mr Michael Coston. New vehicle point of order and delivery documentation including credit agreement, service checklist and optional Extra Cover policy is all made out to Mr Coston, who truly cherished his pride and joy, keeping it for over 27 years and always strictly garaged. Having ceased driving due to advancing years, the car was sold in March 2017 to the second keeper and Sierra Owners Club member, Mr Gavin Longman, who has owned it ever since.

The original leather ‘Ford Cares’ document wallets houses the service book, handbooks, guides and dealership literature as well as even the original ‘dates to remember’ peel off sticker sheet! The Ford torch key plus one spare operate all locks. There is a further history folder containing invoices, Haynes manual and every MOT certificate carried out since the first in 1992 to fully verify the incredibly low mileage of just 43,081 miles. Guaranteed to draw much admiration at any classic car show and ready for enjoyment, this low mileage and low owner example displays all the important collector credentials and opportunity to acquire such a car is rarely presented.
