EXTERIOR
This stylish Mercedes-Benz SL is the highly desirable 300SL-24 model of the much sought after R129 line. Finished in stunning Signal Red, (Code 568), the paintwork is beautifully presented with a deep glossy and uniform finish. All panels are free from damage with only light imperfections visible upon close scrutiny, namely light touched in stone chips to the front and two to the boot lid. There is a very light rub to the front offside bumper corner, barely noticeable. The factory Black soft-top, (Code 740), is superb and fully intact with the original Mercedes clear unmarked screens. In addition, the colour coded hard top comes with the car and is in excellent condition with one paint blemish to one rear corner. An outstanding example of the model that affirmed the maker’s repute for engineering excellence.

INTERIOR
Materials of the highest quality and beautiful craftsmanship are typical of the era for Mercedes-Benz, the benchmark to which other makers aspired. The multi-contoured seats finished in optional Mushroom leather, (Code 275), are spotlessly clean and in near pristine order with electric adjust functions and optional seat heating working perfectly. Both the electric hard top release and electric soft top hood operate with effortless fluidity. Originality seekers will note the factory fitted Pioneer KEH P11 stereo with CD changer and factory stickers still within the door shuts and boot area. Ergonomically brilliant and the ultimate grand roadster.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The six-cylinder 2960cc engine has four valves per cylinder with twin overhead camshafts producing 230bhp and 272Nm of torque. A top speed of 146mph and 0-60 in 8.5 seconds is quoted in the manufacturer literature, and this impressive low mileage example feels wonderful to drive. The spotless and unaltered engine bay displays factory build plates and stickers. The factory upgraded five-speed torque-converter automatic transmission operates perfectly and suits leisurely and enthusiastic driving alike with both sport and economy transmission modes.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Cast light-alloy wheels in eight-hole design are virtually mark free with no kerbing damage whatsoever. Matching Yokohama C.drive 2 225/55 R16 were fitted brand new in 2016 and have covered very few miles. The full-size spare wheel remains fitted with the factory supplied Pirelli P6000 tyre housed neatly in the boot area alongside the Mercedes tool roll, first aid kit, warning triangle, jack and even the delicate and often destroyed wheel changing instruction card! The standard ABS system with fixed calliper disc brakes front and rear offers reassuring stopping power.

HISTORY FILE
Supplied new on the 1st August 1992 by Mercedes-Benz Main Dealer, Speeds of Chesterfield, this beautiful and very desirable 300SL-24 has covered just 75,058 miles from new with a full comprehensive supporting history file. The original service booklet contains 13 Mercedes-Benz dealer and specialist stamped entries, with the most recent entry at 73,671 miles in 2017 by Mercedes Specialist, Spilsby Road Garage of Boston. All original handbooks and guides are in the leather-bound wallet and the factory build card with options list is in the rear page of the service book. Both sets of remote keys are present. Furthermore, the history file contains a large file of service invoices, virtually every MOT certificate and valuation certificates from 2007 to 2016. Completing the history file is a detailed vehicle history log containing chronologically documented servicing, MOT history, ownership trace, valuation records and vehicle specification. An original sales brochure and specification pamphlet is also included. This highly sought after 300SL-24 Valve model is firmly a modern classic and fast becoming highly collectable, particularly as a cherished, unmolested and preserved example offered here.
