EXTERIOR
The elegant and graceful lines of this coupe are instantly recognisable and the W124 Series has become a byword for unsurpassed quality and engineering excellence, a benchmark to which many cars fall short of even today. This desirable 300CE is finished in factory optional Blue Black Metallic, (Code 199), which boasts a gorgeous glossy shine and uniform finish to the high-quality paintwork, a polisher’s dream! All factory panels are straight and damage free whereby very small markings to the bonnet and light stone chips are visible but do not detract from the hugely impressive condition. All trim sections are perfect with no scuffs or aging whatsoever. Having covered just 50,685 miles under husband and wife ownership from one year old, this superb example is preserved to the upper-most standard and is very hard to beat.

INTERIOR
The superbly tailored and beautifully finished cabin space of the Mercedes-Benz W124 is a luxurious environment made from the finest materials. Ergonomically designed for optimum comfort, the contoured seats are trimmed in Grey Leather, (Code 268), an expensive factory option. The supple leather has been regularly treated with feed and remains spotlessly clean and virtually as new. The door cards, headlining, fine burr walnut root cappings and switchgear are perfect, and all functions and controls operate seamlessly. The crystal clear instruments reveal garaged storage with perfect bright orange needles soon faded on outdoor stored examples and the carpets have been protected by genuine Mercedes-Benz carpet mats. Original touches such as the Panasonic Alphatuner stereo and service stickers in the driver’s door shut are pleasing to see, and there is even the unused first aid kit in the rear parcel shelf compartment! An immensely comfortable and well-appointed interior, finished to optimal standard.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Fitted with the preferred choice Mercedes six-cylinder in-line injection unit of 2960cc displacement, the engine produces 180bhp at 5700rpm and 255Nm of torque at 4400rpm. A top speed of 137mph is quoted with effortless acceleration to 62.5mph in just 8.8 seconds. The engine bay is very clean and displays all manufacturer plates, stickers and panel stampings. The four speed Tempomat automatic transmission features sport and economy modes and operates exactly as the manufacturer intended with smooth changes and positive kick down. Effortless motoring indulgence.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The original 15-hole alloy wheel rims look stunning and are well presented with only light markings and scratches to the outer rims. Matching quality Michelin Energy 195/55 R15 tyres were fitted brand new in 2017. The pristine boot area houses the original unused Pirelli P600 spare tyre alongside the original toolkit roll, jack, warning triangle, and even the wheel changing instruction card! Dual-circuit servo braking system with anti-lock assistance (ABS) offers excellent straight line stopping power.

HISTORY FILE
Supplied new on the 13th September 1990 by main agents Dick Lovett Mercedes-Benz of Swindon, the first owner was Mr Andrew Melsom, Managing Director of BMP Business of Baker Street, London. When the car was one year old, it was purchased by Mr and Mrs Frangi who have owned the car ever since, passing into Mrs Sylvia Frangi in 2015. A sales invoice from 1991 reveals the price paid by them of £28,900! The service history is superb with the original service book containing 15 stamped entries, the most recent being November 2017 at 49,648 for a major ‘B’ service with supporting invoice in the history file for £857.79. Furthermore, the Mercedes clear plastic wallet houses all handbooks, guides and point of sale literature as well as both sets of keys with fobs. A folder of previous invoices and MOT certificates completes the history file along with an original sales brochure.

Representing an exceptionally well maintained and preserved example, this low mileage Mercedes offers truly capable everyday classic motoring for those wishing to appreciate this German marque at it pinnacle level.
