Full Description

SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

A tremendous Citroen Saxo VTR with 29,938 miles and one registered owner.

EQUIPMENT
Sports styling with painted bumper skirts and wheel arch extensions, body colour door housing mirrors and handles, rear spoiler, tinted glass, front fog lights, driver’s airbag, front seatbelt pretensioners, energy absorbing side impact protection, power assisted steering, alarm, remote central locking, slide/tilt sunroof, electric windows, white instrument dials, rev counter, split folding rear seats, RDS radio with single CD player.  Factory options; Metallic paint.

EXTERIOR
This outstanding VTR Hot Hatch is finished in factory optional and desirable Poseidon Blue Metallic, (Code KMH).  Having covered just 29,938 miles from new this garaged and pampered example is simple stunning.  The paint boasts a deep lustrous shine and incredibly, the lightweight factory panels and trim sections are undamaged, (the unladen weight is only 935kg!).  There is a tiny rub to each door mirror edge and light distortion to the nearside rear lower plastic trim, utterly insignificant.  Supplying Citroen main dealer number plates and Citroen rear screen sticker remain fitted.  An unmolested marvel and near impossible to find in factory standard specification.

INTERIOR
A wonderful testament to the care bestowed on this cherished car is the perfect condition of the fragile interior.  The original Delta cloth upholstery only fitted to the VTR model is totally unmarked along with the pristine door inserts.  All carpeting is spotlessly clean and remains protected by the original Saxo floor mats.  The headlining, plastic trim and fascia are perfect and fully functional white dials remind the driver of the sporting credentials.  The original RDS radio with single CD remains fitted and operational, and the factory paint code and data stickers remain affixed inside the driver’s door aperture.  The boot area containing the wheel brace and towing eye is very clean and displays PDI markings and the original metal data plate.  An immaculate unspoilt interior.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
This very late Mk2 VTR is fitted with the revised 97bhp four cylinder 1.6L 8 valve engine.  A top speed of 120mph and 0-62mph in 9.4 seconds is quoted and this lively little car is huge fun to drive.  The engine bay remains exactly as intended and displays factory stickers, plates and panel stampings.  The five-speed manual transmission offers light and direct changes with a sporty feel.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The factory fitted 14” Toulouse alloy wheels remain in excellent condition with five Michelin 185/55 R14 tyres.  The servo assisted brakes with discs all round provide safe assured stopping power.

HISTORY FILE
Production of the Citroen Saxo came to an end in 2003 with the final run of cars being the VTR/VTS models, the last of which rolled off the production line in September 2003.  This very late example was registered on 24th October 2003 by Citroen Main Dealer John Wilding Ltd of Morecambe.  The first and only registered owner, Mrs Rena Eastwood, was in her sixties when she purchased the car brand new, citing that she wanted something fun and fast!  After covering just 29,751 miles from new and owning the car for almost 15 years, Mrs Eastwood is now in her eighties and sadly ill health has brought about the difficult decision to sell her pride and joy.  Mrs Eastwood, a fascinating lady, is able to reel off important information about the car’s history with amazing detail, and it was her strict insistence that the car was always garaged, to the detriment of her husbands Mercedes which remained outside!  The condition, driving manner and history is a huge credit to her love and dedication for her VTR, it was her wish that the car was sold to an enthusiast which is exactly what KGF Classic Cars did in 2018 selling into a formidable collection of modern classic cars and we are delighted to have the car back to sell to the next discerning buyer.

The history file includes the full Citroen document wallet containing all handbooks, guides and point of sale literature as well as the service book with 10 stamps and original purchase invoice.  Absolutely every MOT certificate is included.  A large file of invoices completes the history file along with both sets of keys and the key code tag.  Representing a very rare example of an often modified and abused hot hatch, this amazing and hugely entertaining Saxo VTR is without doubt one of the best in existence.
