EXTERIOR
The Mazda MX-5 Gleneagles special edition was a limited production of just 400 cars and commemorates the tradition, prestige and quality of the famous Gleneagles Hotel and Golf Club in Perth, Scotland. This exceptional example has covered a genuine 12,901 miles from new and as such the car is simply breath taking in every possible way. The unique Montego Blue metallic paint, (Code M8), presents in fabulous condition with a stunning deep shine throughout. All bodywork panels are arrow straight and the sills and underside are clean and free from excess applied underseal to allow easy inspection of the superb structural integrity. Absolutely all trim sections, glass, lights and Gleneagles wing badges are undamaged the even the spot welds are visible to the rear wheel arches, long lost on most examples due to rust repairs! The original hood is excellent and the plastic rear screen clear and supple thanks to garage storage away from UV light. Without question one of the finest remaining of the original 400 produced and with such low mileage too.

INTERIOR
Unique to the Gleneagles special edition is the Classic leather upholstery in cream with matching door panels and fascia panel, (Code NA3). Commensurate with the incredibly low 12,901 miles, the sumptuous interior is beautifully clean and free from undue wear with central seat panels featuring ruched hide, exactly as it left the factory. Absolutely all Gleneagles special edition interior features are present and preserved including the perfect wood effect trim and Gleneagles Tartan. The correct and virtually impossible to replace upholstery co-ordinating tonneau edged in Gleneagles Tartan is present and immaculate. All functions and controls operate seamlessly including the factory fitted Clarion DRX8175R CD Stereo. Outstanding in every respect.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The Gleneagles special edition was based on the 1.8i model and the lightweight 16v DOHC engine sits low and behind the front axle to offer a low centre of gravity and centralised weight distribution making handling perfectly balanced and delightfully responsive. The engine bay is spotlessly clean with factory plates, panel stamps, PDI dabs and stickers all present and undamaged. The phenomenal close ratio short throw gearbox provides light and precise gear changes. Brilliant!

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
This exceptional Mazda has factory fitted 15” alloy wheels which are unrestored and in superb order with no outer rim damage whatsoever. To the delight of those seeking total originality or any buyer wishing to place the car into a collection, the factory fitted Dunlop SP Sport 2000 195/50 R15 tyres remain fitted and the temporary spare tyre remains unused. On grounds of age, new tyres should be fitted if the car is to be used. The servo assisted braking system is factory standard and perfect in operation.

HISTORY FILE
Supplied new by Mazda Main Dealer, Evans Halshaw of Birmingham, the car was registered on the 1st March 1996 to first owner, Mr Basketfield. All pre and point of sale documentation has been kept in the large history file and includes a fax from Mr Basketfield to the dealership whereby he agrees to buy their MX-5 Gleneagles special edition as well as the subsequent order form, sales invoice for £17,223.83 and customer vehicle delivery checklist. Mr Basketfield cherihed the car for over 21 years until 2017 when the second and only other owner, Mrs Mills, purchased the car.

The original Gleneagles Tartan document wallet and key holder are present and in immaculate condition, the latter still kept in its plastic sheath. All handbooks, guides and dealership literature including the service book are present along with both sets of keys with code tags and dealer fobs. A separate large history folder contains many invoices as well as all MOT certificates dating back to the very first in 1999 to warrant the mileage. There is an original MX-5 range and accessories brochure as well as a separate Gleneagles special edition brochure. This highly collectable and beautifully preserved example will delight the discerning MX-5 afficionado.
