The first owner, Mr Taylor, owned the car for a remarkable 24 years during which time it was seldom used and kept for best, his main passion being motorcycles. There is a letter from him dated 2011, the following year in which he sold the car, acknowledging receipt of the Audi Driver magazine featuring his car and also an account of his ownership. In this account he was asked if anyone had ever sat in the back seats to which he replied, “Yes, once. I had to take my Son and Daughter in Law to Gatwick Airport. I drove them down and upon returning I vacuumed the car out. Nobody has sat in the back since”. In 2013 the car was purchased by the Volkswagen Group where it was to become part of the Audi Heritage Collection and where it has remained ever since.
