Dealer options; Ford rubber over mats.

EXTERIOR
This exceptional Escort has covered just 20,553 miles from new and is finished in factory original Moondust Silver, (Code S0). The bodywork and paint finish are simply outstanding with no markings worthy of mention other than a very faint rub to the offside front bumper corner and a few carefully touched-in marks. Cosseted by one owner since the car was just eight months old, there are none of the common bodywork issues often found and the amazing underside is very clean thanks to garaged storage from new. Indeed, the rear wheel arches display a pristine factory finish, unheard of for a late model Escort! All trim sections and Ghia accoutrements are fully intact. A luxury retro Ford and one for the Blue Oval enthusiast.

INTERIOR
The plush Ghia interior of this pampered example was high specification as standard and yet several further factory interior options were specified by the first owner to include Ford’s famous patented Quickclear heated front screen. Commensurate with the remarkably low 20,553 miles from new, the original Spectrum Raven fabric upholstery, (Code 61), is spotless with no wear or damage to the fabric whatsoever. The carpets are pristine having been protected from brand new by Ford rubber over mats and the headlining is perfect. All functions operate seamlessly including the original Model 5000 radio stereo cassette. Likewise, the spotless load space boasts an unmarked carpet underneath which the boot floor is as new. Clean, fresh and totally unspoilt.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The dependable 1.6i DOHC 16v four-cylinder engine produces a power output of 90bhp and 134Nm of torque to achieve a top speed of 110mph and 0-60 in 11.4 seconds. The engine is quiet and performs faultlessly and all fluids are clean with the car having just undergone a major service including the cambelt in December 2021. The superbly clean engine bay features all factory stickers, plates, PDI markings and original inner wing stamps. The five-speed gearbox is light, precise and effortless to use with a perfectly comfortable motorway cruising manner.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The original 6×14 Si style alloy wheels are in superb order with only light markings and brand-new Uniroyal Rainsport Expert 3 185/60 R14 have just been fitted all-round in December 2021. The Pirelli tyre factory fitted to the spare wheel has never been used and still shows its coloured banding and rubber nobbles. Diagonally split dual line servo assisted brakes bring the car up straight and steady having been overhauled.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new on 9th June 1997, the car was company registered for the initial eight months at which point Ford Agent, Stephen Rayns Ltd of Leicester, sold the car to the one and only private owner, Mr Smith. The car has covered a genuine 20.553 miles from new with Mr Smith being the sole registered owner from eight months old. Upon his passing in 2009, the car was bequeathed to his son who has since stored the car having not wanted to part with it. Having been contacted by the family, KGF Classic Cars were privileged to be invited to buy the car and have since undergone a full recommissioning of this original and preserved example to include; major servicing, cambelt, auxiliary belts, fuel system overhaul, brake overhaul, tyres and full operation inspection.

The original Ford zip wallet contains the handbooks, guides and radio booklet as well as the service booklet. A history folder contains Ford Main Dealer service and maintenance invoices as well as previous MOT certificates dating back to the first in 2000. Completing the history file is an original Escort range sales brochure along with three Ford keys including the red master key. Even the torch key still works! This wonderful example is vastly superior to the usual offerings and Mr Smith’s love and dedication to cosseting the car is clearly evident.
