A luxurious Mk3 Ford Escort 1.3 Ghia with just 57,337 miles and full history.

EQUIPMENT
Laminated windscreen, safety glass all round, louvred design radiator grille, anti-burst locks, body-side protection mouldings, protective bumper inserts, overriders, wide bright mouldings on windows, bright mouldings rear lamps and tailgate, belt line moulding in bright finish, tilting/sliding sunroof, triple body side tape stripe, remote control door mirrors, additional sound insulation, Ghia Badging, Ford RST 21P push button radio, two speed plus variable intermittent wipe, heated rear window, tachometer, trip recorder, solid state multi-function digital clock, four spoke soft feel steering wheel, loadspace carpet, cigar lighter, illuminated interior controls.

EXTERIOR
This superb top of the range for comfort Mk3 Escort Ghia is finished in Ford Arctic Blue (code 7 1). The stunning paintwork has a bright uniform finish which is a testament to the previous keeper’s devotion for the car. This incredibly well cared for genuine example is structurally excellent. Tiny bodywork imperfections and blemishes are very minimal and certainly take nothing away from the impressive appeal of this beautiful car. The Ghia specification brightwork is remarkably well preserved and virtually undamaged. Even the original pressed metal number plates remain with the car alongside a metal AA grill emblem, a real suggestion of enthusiast ownership! The sunroof is operational but stiff. A once common sight on our roads, this lovely Ford Escort in desirable Ghia form is sure to stir up nostalgia.

INTERIOR
Finished in factory original ‘Ghia’ spec Durham and Crushed Velour trim in Blue colour scheme (code GK), the seats and condition of the fabrics are fully commensurate with such a low mileage and cherished example. The matching door cards with wood inserts are spotless and the colour keyed cut pile carpets have defied the years remarkably. All switchgear is functional, and the soft finish dashboard is completely free from the all too common cracking issues, almost unheard of! The parcel shelf is intact, straight and complete with the correct cord hangers. Even the factory Ford RST 21P push button radio cassette remains fitted and functional! This wonderfully presented interior is exactly as Ford intended, a real delight for the enthusiast.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The time proven transverse mounted 1300 OHC engine with single variable-venturi carburettor develops 69bhp, ample to keep in flow with modern traffic. The engine is wonderfully quiet and smooth, owing in no doubt to a lifetime of documented fastidious care and maintenance by the previous keepers including the last owner, a Mechanic by trade. The standard specification automatic choke and electronic ignition are both present and correct, and operate perfectly. The four speed synchromesh gearbox with remote shift is light and exact, a joy to use.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Five pristine 5” x 13” styled road wheels with spotless bright finish wheel centres and rim embellishers are shod in matching 155/80 R13 tyres with masses of tread remaining. The black painted edges to the wheel holes remain correct as per factory build, often lost upon wheel refurbishment. The diagonally split hydraulic circuit servo assisted brakes with ventilated 9.4in front discs and 7.0in rear drums bring the car up to a steady, straight and assured halt.

HISTORY FILE
Supplied new on 23rd April 1981, this delightful example has enjoyed a lifetime of incredible care and fastidious maintenance with just four keepers in total. The second long term keeper purchased the car in 1984 and kept in for an incredible 26 years, during which time a complete log of the mileage year by year was kept! Not only this, but absolutely every single MOT certificate from the very first to present year has been kept in the history file to fully document the 57,337 miles covered.

Furthermore, the original Ford book pack contains all the new car sales leaflets, accessories brochure as well as the original driver’s manuals and radio guides. A huge collection of invoices and receipts for service and maintenance work completes the history file along with two original keys. Even the radio aerial instruction tag with pull up keys attached remains with the car! Now representing a rare car, this truly genuine classic Ford Escort is ready for classic car enjoyment and shows alike.
