SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

A revolutionary Triumph 1300 Saloon with just two former keepers.

EQUIPMENT
Chrome wing mirrors, locking fuel cap, rubber inserts in overriders, opening front quarter-lights  ‘All systems go’ dial, two speed heater/cooler fan, panel rheostat control, lockable glove compartment, front parcel shelf, walnut facia and door capping, three ashtrays, ammeter, water gauge, courtesy lights, passenger vanity mirror, fold-away window winders, childproof locks, two coat hooks, rear centre armrest, axially and vertically adjustable steering wheel.  Dealer fit: LW/MW Radiomobile, Smiths oil pressure and volt gauge.

EXTERIOR
Finished in Royal Blue, (colour code 56) this preserved example has a deep shine which has aged remarkably well having always been pampered.  Panel fit and integrity is excellent and this original example is recognised on the Triumph Register with grille badge and window sticker proudly on display.  The chrome brightwork has minor pitting and all the correct badging remains undamaged.  Some rubber trim is slightly split and all the glass is clear.  A beautiful example.

INTERIOR
Finished in matching Shadow Blue, (trim code 27), the ventilated expanded PVC seats and blue moulded carpeting deservedly show some wear after 46 years of age.  This can be seen via discolouration and two small splits to the side of the seats.  All gauges function correctly along with the ‘all systems go’ warning dial.  Two additional Smiths gauges and a Radiomobile for driver enjoyment have been added.  The plush walnut facia and door cappings along with extended material to the door bottoms offer luxury and revolutionary features such as fold-away window winders reveal quirky differences.  The 11cu.ft illuminated boot has all the original lining and has worn very well.  A rare survivor and a very pleasant comfortable environment.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
At the heart of this Triumph is the well proven 1296cc four cylinder engine with a single downdraught Stromberg carburettor producing a healthy 61bhp which enables a top speed of 85mph and 0-60 in 18.5 seconds.  Quiet, smooth and responsive due to regular home servicing this car offers fun yet practical classic car ownership.  The four speed, all synchromesh gearbox is light, precise and a joy to use thanks in part to the gearshift going direct to the heart of the gearbox.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Stainless steel wheel trims are in excellent condition with new 155/80 R13 tyres just fitted.  Self-adjusting caliper disc brakes to the front and wide drum brakes to the rear stop the car quickly and safely.

HISTORY FILE
Owned by three mature long-term Triumph custodians each owning the car for 12, 15 and 19 years consecutively this lovely example has had a sheltered pampered life.  Enjoying Triumph club outings and classic car shows this delightful vehicle will provide a budget entry into affordable classic car ownership yet still retaining the important low owner criteria desired by many with brilliant club support and parts availability.  Always well maintained by regular home servicing this car is a prime, elegant and well-mannered Triumph saloon.
