SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

A stunning Ford Escort Mk2 RS2000 Custom in prime condition.

EQUIPMENT
Polyurethane front end incorporating four Cibie quartz halogen headlamps, front air dam, rubberised tail spoiler, twin bodyside coachline, RS2000 decals, black door mirrors, laminated windscreen, hazard warning flashers, heated rear window, separate fuel, water temperature and oil pressure gauges, padded sun visors, two-speed heater, aeroflow ventilation with eye ball vents. RS Custom features; Recaro front seats with fishnet headrests, centre console, glovebox, quartz clock, remote control door mirrors, bronze tinted glass, full trimmed door cards, cut pile carpeting, vanity mirror, luggage compartment light, Custom fascia badge, alloy road wheels. Dealer fit; Sunroof.

EXTERIOR
This beautiful RS2000 Custom example is finished in Ford Black (code A). The vehicle boasts an amazing a deep glossy shine with uniform finish to really catch the eye. Structurally perfect with no corrosion to the panels whatsoever, the lines and panel fit are excellent. All trim sections and RS decals and badges remain intact and in excellent order, and a spotlessly clean engine bay with factory stickers and Ford battery cover is ready for bonnet up exhibiting. The original Custom Bronze tinted glass remains intact aside from a stone chip to the windscreen, and a period aftermarket sunroof is neatly fitted with excellent undamaged seals. Altogether a very clean and usable example of Ford’s iconic RS2000, ready for enjoyment!

INTERIOR
The original Custom interior in Chocolate fabric trim (code A8) has remained in excellent order and features the correct black Custom cabin fitments even down to the often removed ‘Custom’ badge on the dash! The superb seats are largely unworn aside from some light creasing to the fabric on the driver’s side and slight slack in the material. The rear bench seat has been changed but the original is in good order and included. The perfect fascia and dash top houses fully functional gauges and equipment and the original leather bound three spoke steering wheel remains undamaged. The heater fan works on both high and low settings. The carpets and door cards are in excellent condition and a clean boot area has the carpet covering. A period style stereo with MP3 connectivity neatly installed into the centre console looks superb. Speakers have been fitted front and rear. A delightfully retro and wonderfully preserved classic RS interior.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The original 1993cc SOHC engine is mainly factory standard even down to the original Ford plastic air box, but the cooling system has been upgraded to include an electric fan. Performance figures of 108.2mph top speed and 0-60 in just 8.5 seconds are more than respectable even for modern standards. A sports exhaust, (heat wrapped at front), emits a purposeful unobtrusive bark which is very addictive. The standard four speed synchromesh gearbox remains exactly as Ford intended, light and precise.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Stunning four spoke Ronal style 6J x 13in alloy wheels feature polished face and rims with black infills to create the ultimate and hugely popular aesthetic appeal. New Yokohama A539 185/60 R13 tyres have been fitted including the spare. Vacuum servo assisted front disc brakes with rear drums brakes offer fair braking but fall short of modern standards.

HISTORY FILE
Supplied new by Ford Main Dealers in 1980, this Mk2 RS2000 was first registered and spent early years in Ireland before being UK registered in May 1987. The history file consists of a comprehensive collection of invoices and receipts as well as RS Owners Club documentation to highlight the cherished enthusiast ownership this example has enjoyed with just four former UK owners. Previously sold by KGF Classic Cars to enthusiast Mark Fewtrell who has enjoyed the car predominantly for shows. Unable to resist the temptation to purchase another classic from us, Mr Fewtrell has reluctantly offered this RS2000 back to us. A very welcome return!
