A pristine Ford Focus RS Mk1 build number 3083 with just 4,444 miles from new.

MODEL HISTORY
Inspired by the Late Colin McRae’s victorious Ford Focus RS World Rally Car, the Ford Focus RS was created as a no frills, no compromise road going rally car, a car true to its motorsport roots. Designed in conjunction with Ford Racing Engineers and M-Sport in Cumbria, the RS badge synonymous with the most desirable, high performance Ford vehicles was first introduced to the already accomplished Focus. Equipped with 521 unique WRC inspired components only 4,501 examples were built with 2,147 sold to the UK market. (Source: The Essential Buyers Guide by Dan Williamson).

EQUIPMENT
Computer optimised unitary welded steel body, rigid occupant safety cell, energy absorbing crumple zones, wider front and rear pressed steel wings, auxiliary air intakes, aerodynamic splitter and rear wing, mounted side sills, modified lower rear apron, driver and front passenger airbags, air conditioning, leather sports steering wheel with blue inserts, carbon fibre centre console with start button, limited edition number plaque, Sparco aluminium handbrake, gear knob and pedals, boost gauge and ‘change up light’, bright metal tread plates with RS script, stereo radio/6CD model 6006E, Thatcham CAT 1 alarm. Accessories; RS front floor mats.

EXTERIOR
Build number 3083 is finished in stunning Imperial Blue Metallic, (Code Q2), the only available colour. The paintwork boasts a polished shine that is simply flawless except for a few tiny stone chips. All factory panels are pin straight and the bumpers, side skirts and trims sections are immaculate. The underside is in immaculate factory preserved condition thanks to a light coating of clear waxoyl when brand new and now recently wiped off. Even fragile stickers remain attached to underside components! The supplying Ford dealer number plates and rear screen sticker remain although the car currently is on a RS cherished plate which remains with the car. This outstanding and unmolested example is just as Ford intended and worthy of the most prestigious collections.

INTERIOR
Inside this white-hot Ford are a pair of body-hugging Sparco road-race seats swathed in luxurious Racing Black and Blue Leather and Black Alcantara, (Code AR). The RS and Sparco logos are embossed and stitched into the upholstery, coupled with this are the aluminium fittings, push button start and numbered plaque. The interior is beautifully preserved and commensurate with the exceptionally low mileage. The steering wheel blue leather, a known weak point, is bright and unworn. The RS front carpet mats have never been put into service and are preserved in the boot, the original owner preferring to have a second set of mats for usage. Ford built this car to truly delight its motorsport loving RS devoted fan base and the long-awaited car did not disappoint.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Fitted with the thumping Ford 2.0 Duratec RS four-cylinder 16v unit the power output achieved is 212bhp at 5500rpm and 310Nm torque at 3500rpm. The maximum speed is 144mph while 0-60 is dispatched in just 6.4 seconds! The engine bay sparkles with factory plates, stickers, labels and wing stamps visible. Correct for a later build car is the pink throttle cable ‘trumpet’ grommet with blue collar. The sturdy Ford MTX-75 gearbox with a standard heavy-duty AP Racing clutch offers the ultimate rally road car experience.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The unique 8 x 18in Oz Racing rims are unmarked with perfect RS centre caps. Specially produced for the Focus RS Mk1 are Michelin Pilot Sport 225/40 ZR18 tyres which are factory fitment with masses of tread, the holy grail for collectors. In lew of the spare wheel is the factory supplied compressor and unopened tyre sealant. Pristine Brembo 4-pot callipers are visible through the large spoke apertures and 324mm ventilated front and 280mm rear discs provide immense stopping power.

HISTORY FILE
Factory build records confirm build number 3083 rolled of the production line on the 19th October 2003 ready to be dispatched to the supplying Ford Main Dealer, Polar Ford in Cheshire. Date of first registration was the 14th November 2003. First owner, Mr Bullimore, finally manged to acquire this example having been on the waiting list and having first written to the Ford Motoring Company Limited as early as 2002 requesting launch information on the forthcoming Ford Focus RS. Such was the demand, eager customers were prepared to pay well over odds to acquire one of these limited production cars, however Ford dealers were forbidden to sell over list price. As was the case with this example, some Ford dealers registered cars to employees and were then able to sell to a retail customer at their own discretionary price as a used car. Mr Bullimore finally acquired the car shortly after first registration and the original order form and sales invoice records a purchase price of £21,995 (£2,000 more than list price) and delivery miles on the odometer. The comprehensive history file contains letter from Ford to Mr Bullimore in reply to his request for pre-launch information as well as all purchase documentation and welcome letters. Having finally acquired his dream Ford, Mr Bullimore managed to complete the dream by sourcing an original and super rare press release tin still in bubble wrap and containing the CD, information booklet and four press release slides. All original handbooks, guides and special RS supplement are contained within the Ford leather RS wallet along with the service book containing four Ford main dealer stamped entries. At 4,444 miles in July 2021, a documented major service including brake fluid change was carried out as well as a cambelt, water pump, idler and pulleys at Ford main dealer TC Harrison in Peterborough with supporting invoice for £1,564. All supporting Ford main dealer services invoices, previous MOT certificates and maintenance receipts have been kept. Two keys are present with Polar Ford keyrings and both RS alarm fobs with fully intact rubber fob loops, virtually unheard of as most have split by now! Completing the superb history file is all the Focus RS launch brochures and sales literature packs, highly coveted items in themselves!

A premium collectors quality Focus RS Mk1, pure collectable blue-oval brilliance.
