SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

An astonishing Ford Escort RS Turbo Series 2 with just 21,801 miles.

EQUIPMENT
Body coloured bumpers with black insert, body coloured wheel arch extensions, 88 spec tailgate spoiler, halogen headlamps, front driving lamps, cooling vents in bonnet, central door locking, heated rear window, dual-tone horn, tailgate wash/wipe, tinted glass, quartz digital clock, aerial incorporated in rear windscreen, Recaro front reclining seats, 60/40 split rear back rest, soft feel sports steering wheel, tilt/slide glass sunroof, tachometer, electrically operated front windows, electrically adjustable door mirrors, Ford Self-Seek Stereo with power amplifier, speaker control.  Factory options; Quickclear heated front screen.

EXTERIOR
This impeccable example is finished in beautiful original Diamond White (code B3).  The unspoilt factory finish showcases a bright pure shine, commensurate with the cars astonishingly low miles and careful storage.  Needless to say the factory panels are pin straight with uniform gaps and all trim sections and RS decals are as new.  A light scuff to the front offside and nearside bumper corners as well light scratches to the driver’s door mirror are insignificant and remain untreated in the pursuit of originality.  KGF Classic Cars are happy to have this work rectified within the purchase price should the next owner desire.  Represented in truly special preserved state, this RS Turbo retains all the manufacturers’ originality and unmolested appeal including the supplying Ford Main Dealer number plates.  A completely standard engine compartment displays all the factory stickers and plates.  Near impossible to find such a special RS Turbo, this example is a worthy show contender.

INTERIOR
This original Escort RS Turbo has a perfect interior remaining exactly as Ford intended.  The fully adjustable supportive Recaro seats show no wear to the Zolda fabric (Code LW) with the ever popular Shadow grey, red and blue pattern.  Matching door cards are pristine with only slight markings to the driver’s pull handle.  The pristine carpets have been beautifully preserved and have retained complete fullness to the pile.  All switches, knobs and dials function correctly and the fully operational Ford Self-Seek stereo radio/cassette with speaker directional control remains fitted with original speakers.  The boot area is spotless with original build stickers and markings intact.  A truly magnificent example of this legendary RS Ford.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The 1.6 OHC (CVH) fuel injected engine with a Garrett AiResearch T3 turbo charger and intercooler is completely factory standard making this vehicle a rare example that is now the exception.  Producing 132bhp in such a lightweight car, the 0-60 dash is dealt with in 8.2 seconds and a top speed of 128mph is achieved.  A factory original exhaust system remains fitted.  Having only covered a mere 21,801 miles, the 5-speed manual Ford BC box with standard 220mm clutch is light and precise with crisp clutch action.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The original unrestored light alloy 6X15 RS wheels remain undamaged and pristine.  Five matching factory correct Dunlop SP Sport D40 195/50 R15 tyres have masses of tread remaining but renewal prior to regular use would be prudent due to age.  This fast Ford icon stops as well as it goes with the ABS braking system designed in conjunction with Lucus Girling working perfectly.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new on 23rd March 1989, this incredible example boasts provenance of having just two keepers.  A Mr Brown purchased the car new as a birthday present for his wife Sheila.  The vehicle having enjoyed regular use was subsequently used only sparingly following Mr Brown’s passing, however regular maintenance and annual MOT testing was upheld.  The second keeper Mr David Tring purchased the car in November 2002 from Cheffins Auction House, a route of sale deemed to be the least emotionally taxing by Mrs Brown.  With no intention of buying whilst at the auction, Mr Tring was overcome by an episode of spontaneity and decided to purchase this example for nostalgic reasons having owned a similar example when new!  The decision to sell this stunning example is born from his AC Cobra recreation project requiring more time and attention.

The Ford leather wallet contains the original stamped service book along with every handbook, radio guide and dealership literature from point of sale.  Furthermore, the history file contains MOT certificates and invoices to further support the incredible low mileage and even the Cheffins Auction bidding card!  This vehicle is certain to appeal to a collector of modern classics wanting one of the best, most original lowest mileage examples in existence.  The ultimate Ford fans desire.
