A Peugeot 405 GRI 2.0 Petrol family owned from new and only 28,992 miles.

EQUIPMENT
Bodyside mouldings with bright insert, deep front spoiler, rear bumper skirt, four halogen headlamp system, front fog lamps, power assisted steering, laminated windscreen, tinted glass, heated and electrically adjustable door mirrors, electric front and rear windows, remote central locking, electric sunroof, digital clock, map reading lamp, front and rear head restraints, ski flap boot access, Peugeot stereo cassette, tachometer, brake fluid level and pad wear indicator, intermittent wipers, washer jets mounted on wiper arms. Factory Options; Automatic gearbox, metallic paint. Dealer accessories; Peugeot rubber floor mats, servicing package, (expired).

EXTERIOR
A stylish design by Pininfarina, this Peugeot 405 GRI is finished in Peugeot Saxon Blue, (Code MOPJ), and is in superb order with a lovely uniform shine throughout thanks to the low 28,992 miles covered. The often ding prone body panels are remarkably straight with only light scratches and touched in markings commensurate with the vehicles age. All trim sections, lights and etched glass with factory labels are well preserved and the supplying Peugeot dealer rear screen sticker, tax disc holder and factory labels in the door apertures further uphold the originality. There is a small compression to the lower rear bumper skirt, quite unnoticeable. Classic chic lines from Peugeots design heyday to truly take your breath away!

INTERIOR
The sumptuous and immensely comfortable interior is typically ‘of the era’ from French manufacturers with large soft seats and plush upholstery. The spotless Feriane velour upholstery is virtually perfect thanks to the wonderfully low mileage and pampered care. The headlining and door cards are fully intact and the carpets have been protected from new by Peugeot rubber floor mats, as specified on the original sales invoice. The fascia and switchgear are as new and the original Peugeot stereo cassette remains fitted. All functions and controls operate perfectly. A clean boot area completes the package. A spacious modern classic interior, brilliantly cared for and ready for retro family classic car outings.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The four-cylinder 1998cc engine with multipoint fuel injection develops 123bhp and 179Nm of torque to offer spritely performance whilst achieving a very respectable top speed of 120mph and 0-62mph in 12.5 seconds. The engine is wonderfully quiet and smooth and a stark contrast to the XUD diesel but just as bombproof! The engine bay is very clean and displays factory stickers, plates and panel stampings across the slam panel as well as the strut-top paint code label. The 2.0 GRi model is perfectly suited to the four speed automatic transmission which operates perfectly and is surprisingly smooth for the era.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The wheels remain fitted with the correct Peugeot full wheel covers which are in superb order with no kerb damage. Matching premium brand Uniroyal RainExpert 185/65 R14 tyres have masses of tread remaining. The twin circuit diagonally split braking system features discs all round, ventilated to front, to offer assured stopping power.

HISTORY FILE
The original consignment notice from PSA wholesale Ltd is in the history file and the car was supplied new on the 31st August 1993 by Peugeot Main Dealer, TFL Kensington. Destined to spend its entire life with the same family from new and so far, covering just 28,992 miles, the first owner was Mr Donald Fair who purchased the car at a pre-registered discount of 10% and negotiated free rubber mats and a service package. This is all detailed on the original sales invoice and handover checklist in the history file whereby the price paid was £13,151.18. Upon Mr Fair’s passing in 1996 the car passed to his wife, Mrs Marjorie Fair, who used the car sparingly until 2012 when she decided to cease using the car and have ownership transferred to her son, Christopher fair, who has owned it ever since!

The dealer supplied Peugeot wallet contains all handbooks, operating guides and point of sale literature, including even a Peugeot carrier bag and napkin! The original service record book is present contains stamped entries for the early years of the car. Furthermore, the history file contains invoices and receipts whereby in recent years the car was serviced and maintained by the same independent specialist. A documented cambelt change was carried out in October 2018 at 26,518 miles and a service has just been carried out in January 2021. Completing the history file is the original Peugeot 405 sales brochure used by Mr Fair when he purchased the car, complete with his notes. Mr Fair even kept a ‘What Car’? magazine article from 1993 whereby the Peugeot 405 was compared against the Ford Mondeo, Mazda 626, Nissan Primera, Rover 416, Toyota Carina E, Vauxhall Cavalier and Volkswagen Vento. ‘What Car?’ awarded the Peugeot top of its class! This low mileage and very capable 405 drives superb and, as per the famous television advert, is perfect for evading spontaneously erupting maize fields!
