SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

An unrestored Ford Fiesta 1.1 Popular Plus with 18,727 miles and one private owner.

EQUIPMENT
Body coloured steel bumpers, grey end protection mouldings, bodyside mouldings, halogen headlamps, laminated windscreen, anti-burst door locks, storage compartment under rear-floor, two speed plus intermittent wipe, tailgate wash/wipe, heated rear window, illuminated interior controls, 3-speed fan, soft feel steering wheel, folding rear seat back, digital clock, Ford electronic mono radio Model 2001, stowage bins, warning lights for oil pressure, ignition/alternator, brake failure, and high beam.

EXTERIOR
This incredible and totally original Ford Fiesta Popular Plus is quite simply a museum artefact. Always garaged and having covered just an amazing 18, 727 miles with just one private owner from new, the factory first coat of paint in Ford Diamond White, (Code B3), is beautifully preserved with a bright shine and smooth uniform finish. All panels are original with Ford stamps and factory spot welds clearly visible, features lost immediately upon the usual repainting. The perfectly preserved underside is completely free from repairs and underseal, in fact anything other than yellow factory wax. Very faint markings and undulations are visible upon close inspection but are left untreated in order to uphold the very special 100% originality. All glass is factory fit Sekurit, and all light lenses are original Ford fitment with correct Kiney headlamps. Even the supplying Ford dealer number plates and rear screen sticker remain fitted! An almost inconceivable rare survivor and worthy of the best Ford collection.

INTERIOR
The interior is exactly as Ford intended and in perfect condition. The Tracer trim in Raven colour scheme, (Code LV), is no different now than when new in 1989! The colour-keyed velour carpet is truly immaculate and free from wear, and the perforated neutral tone headlining is flawless. All switchgear is functional and intact with a new feel, and the soft finish dashboard is perfect. The original Ford stereo radio (Model 2001) remains fitted. A spotlessly clean boot area reveals a pin straight uncut parcel shelf with the correct rubber hangers, and the lower boot storage areas have factory build stickers and foam insulation. An interior absolutely worthy of the often over used descriptive ‘time warp’, where even the 1980’s Ford scent has not been lost!

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The time proven transverse mounted 1117cc OHV engine with single-venturi carburettor develops 50bhp at 5000rpm and 83Nm of torque at 2700rpm. The standard specification manual choke and electronic ignition are both present and correct, and operate perfectly. In a car weighing just 750kg, performance while not exhilarating is certainly spirited, and the unmistakable exhaust note is delightful! The clean engine bay is totally original, even down to factory plates, stickers and even Motorcraft service items and blue PDI dots! The four-speed synchromesh gearbox is light and exact. A hugely nostalgic drive!

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The original 13” X 5” steel wheels and small black Ford centre caps are in excellent condition with a few tiny marks and display prominent stampings, a feature immediately lost upon refurbishment. The 155/70 R13 tyres have excellent tread remaining. The dual line servo assisted brakes with ventilated 9.4” front discs and 7.0” rear drums bring the car up straight and steady.

HISTORY FILE
Supplied new by Ford Main Dealer Currie Motors of Surbiton and registered on 16th January 1989, this Fiesta was pre-registered to the supplying dealer before being sold to the first and only private keeper, Ms Joy Edson. A customer purchase invoice made out to Ms Edson reveals a purchase price of £5,280, and her pride and joy was strictly garaged when not in use. The original plastic A5 wallet houses all handbooks and dealership literature as well as the service book displaying 17 stamped entries across three pages, all of which are Ford Main Dealers! The incredible low mileage of just 18,727 miles is fully verified in the amazing history file which includes supporting service invoices and every single MOT certificate from the first in 1992 to present, with none missed! Completing the history file is the original Blue V5 and two Ford keys both with supplying dealer fobs.

To describe this almost unconceivably well-preserved example as better than most one year old cars is absolutely fair, and this Fiesta is a credit to Ms Edson and a testament to her love for the car. A slice of Ford History.
