EXTERIOR
The MG Rover Monogram Special Order Program produced a limited number of vehicles with fabulous bespoke paintwork and interior options, available exclusively at considerable cost to the most discerning and imaginative of buyers! This MG TF was factory ordered in Spectre, (Code IAA), one of just two Chromactive colours, the other being Typhoon. This incredibly rare colour looks simply amazing with the flip paintwork changing constantly through its pink to grey to blue tones as you move around the car. The factory panels look superb and close scrutiny reveals little more than very light touched-in markings. Always garaged, the special factory order blue hood is in fantastic order and the Perspex rear screen is fully intact and clear. The ultimate stand out MG TF guaranteed to draw curious admiration!

INTERIOR
The comfortable yet snug cockpit offers real sports car appeal with open top motoring delights. The plush Monogram Gunsmoke Alcantara and black leather upholstery, (Code LZA), looks fantastic with just a light nick to the driver’s outer bolster and virtually no bobbling to the Alcantara seat facings. The light Smokestone fascia is undamaged and all functions and controls operate including the original MG CD Stereo system. A surprisingly large rear boot is pristine and the front compartment displays PDI dabs and all factory plates and stickers fully intact. The optional rear wind deflector remains fitted and the light grey tonneau cover is immaculate. A sports car interior in super condition.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The original four cylinder 1796cc engine produces 136bhp at 6700rpm and 165Nm torque at 5000rpm enabling a top speed of 127mph and 0-60 in just 8.2 seconds. The mid-mounted engine and rear wheel drive configuration represent all the correct sports car credentials to ensure optimum driving enjoyment. A quality stainless steel rear exhaust system has been fitted to produce a delightful yet unobtrusive exhaust note. The short throw sports ratio five speed gearbox completes the package and actively encourages enthusiastic changes, great fun!

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The factory fitted 15” square-spoke alloy wheels are unrestored and in immaculate order with no kerb damage. The front and rear tyres of size 185/55 R15 and 205/50 R15 respectively are matching Evergreen items having just replaced the factory fitted items for safety reasons. The spare wheel remains fitted with original Goodyear GT65 tyre and the jack and brace are stored in the black plastic bag. The braking system incorporates discs all round (ventilated front) to offer positive stopping power.

HISTORY FILE
Supplied new by MG Rover main dealer, Lockwood and Greenwood of Manchester, on the 16th May 2003, this example has had just two keepers from new and covered a verified 15,076 miles. The new vehicle order form in the history file is made out to Mrs WS Fairhurst who having been an existing MG Rover customer was awarded an exclusive £1,500 loyalty voucher. However, this was gifted just after she had placed the order for this example and agreed part exchange for her year 2000 MGF. Armed with her generous voucher, Mrs Fairhurst contacted the dealership who agreed that the voucher deadline could be extended to cover the delivery date of her car and to, as per her words in the letter, recover some of the value of the optional extras totalling £1,671 for the customised TF she had ordered! Correspondence in the file includes a further letter of complaint to MG Rover headquarters at Longbridge whereby upon preparing for delivery of her new car, it transpired the voucher had already been used to discount the car and there would be no further reduction. The outcome of the complaint remains a mystery!

The original handbook and service book with eight stamped entries are present in the plastic MG wallet and a further history folder contains invoices and every MOT since the first in 2006 to verify the 15,076 miles covered. A service has just been carried out in January 2021 and the cambelt and water pump change was undertaken in 2018 at 13,140 miles. Finally, there are two original keys with fobs and dealer keyrings as well as the exclusive Monogram Special Order program brochure. A quality indoor car cover is also included. Facts on the exact numbers of MG TF’s in Spectre Chromactive are subject to slight variation, all below 30. What is certain is that this incredibly rare example with just two owners and 15,076 miles is firmly in serious collector territory.
