The fantastic Saab 9-5 is the epitome of a modern classic luxury saloon with the earliest models fast approaching twenty-five years old. This desirable example is the 3.0TiD model in well-equipped Arc specification with just 31,740 miles from new. The factory original paintwork in Silver Metallic, (Code 268), boasts a bright uniform shine and uniform finish and all panels are beautifully straight and free from damage. Close inspection reveals nothing other than light markings to the paintwork and some touched in scratches, most notably to the rear bumper corner and front lower bumper. These are minor imperfections that do not spoilt the appearance. The supplying Saab main dealer number plates, rear screen sticker and windscreen label remain fitted and the glass displays factory etching. A rare find in such low mileage form.

Saab were renowned for their innovative, safe and supremely comfortable interiors and this 9-5 is certainly no exception. The original Charcoal full leather, (Code K10), is very clean and in superb condition with only very light stretching to the hide on the driver’s seat. An impressive array of safety features including multiple airbags and even ISOFIX child safety points to make this the ultimate safety conscious retro barge! The dashboard with cultivated burr walnut instrument panels is in excellent order and absolutely all equipment and functions operate perfectly including the park assist, ice-cold air conditioning, heated seats and cruise control. The carpets have been protected from new by genuine Saab fitted over mats and the doors cards and headlining are immaculate. A well-engineered, clean, sumptuous and super safe interior.

The simply brilliant 3.0TiD V6 diesel engine produces 176bhp and a thumping 350Nm of torque, enough to achieve 0-62mph in 9.3 seconds and a top speed of 134mph. The beautifully smooth and quiet turbocharged power delivery is very impressive for a large vehicle and motorway fuel consumption is quoted at a respectable 47.9mpg. The very clean engine bay features all factory stickers, plates and panel stamps. The sturdy 5-speed manual transmission allows the driver to better exploit the ample performance and suits this powerful car very well. It is also the preferred choice for towing.

The original 5-spoke ALU 47 style wheels are in very good condition with no kerb damage and only light markings, mostly on the inner rim face and not easily noticeable. Premium brand 215/55 R16 tyres are fitted all round and the space saver spare wheel is the factory supplied item that has never seen the road and has the coloured banding still visible. Alongside the spare wheel is the original Saab toolkit, warning triangle and wheel change apparatus. ABS with Electronic Brake Force Distribution offers superb straight line stopping power.

This 3.0TiD Arc Saloon was supplied new by main dealer, County Saab of Milton Keynes, and registered new on the 11th March 2002. There have been just three keepers from new and the car has covered a low 31,740 miles. Two of the owners are father and son and on the untimely passing Mr Dutson senior his son, Ian Dutson, inherited the car in January 2019. During this sad ownership transition the paperwork was lost however the garage that has maintained the car, Neath Hill Autos in Milton Keynes have confirmed regular attendance including a cambelt change carried out with less than 3,500 miles covered since.

The history file contains the Saab leather document wallet and information guides and there are two keys with County Saab fob. A Saab 9-5 range brochure from 2002 completes the history file. This iconic Swedish car maker was renowned for its pioneering and non-compromising approach to engineering, quality and safety, and this brilliant 9-5 represents this ethos perfectly.
