ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The smooth and quiet 2.0i DOHC 16v four-cylinder unit develops 130bhp and 180Nm torque allows a top speed of 118mph and 0-60 in 11.1 seconds. With 12 stamped entries in the service book, this Mondeo has been maintained to a high standard despite the very low mileage and the engine offers flawless performance. The clean engine bay features all factory stickers, plates, panel stamps, PDI markings and even fragile paper labels fully intact. The factory optional automatic transmission with economy and sports modes operates perfectly.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The attractive Ghia X 12-spoke alloy wheels are in excellent condition with no kerb damage and only very light outer edge scratches and inner spoke blemishes. Leading brand Continental 205/50 R16 tyres are fitted all round with plenty of tread remaining. The spare wheel is an unused full-size steel item that still has the factory nobbles and coloured banding to the tyre. Dual-line diagonally split servo assistance brakes with front and rear discs and ABS bring the car to a quick safe halt.
This remarkable low mileage Ford Mondeo Ghia X was supplied new by Ford Main Dealer, Gates of Harlow, and registered new on the 27th March 1998 to Mrs Janet Weers. After just 11 months of ownership the car was retailed as an Approved Used Ford again by the original supplying dealer and sold to Mr George Glover, a retired gentleman who has owned it ever since! Mr Glover used the car sparingly and kept his pride and joy strictly garaged when not in use, and the condition of the car certainly reflects this.
The history file contains the original Ford document wallet and service book with 12 stamped entries, the first nine being the supplying Ford Main Dealer, Gates of Harlow. The most recent entry is in December 2020 for a service and cambelt change. Furthermore, there is the handbook, radio guide and all dealership literature from the point of sale. A separate folder of supporting Ford service invoices along with MOT certificates dating back to the first in 2001 to fully verify the 20,305 miles covered. Completing the history file are both sets of keys with code tags and dealership keyring. This once common sight on UK roads has all but disappeared, however the memory of the early Mondeo is alive and gleaming with this wonderful Ghia X example.
