EQUIPMENT
Twin door mirrors, convex nearside door mirror, integrated front spoiler, side impact beams, wide rubbing strips, laminated windscreen, green tinted heat insulating glass, halogen headlamps, steel sliding sunroof, heated rear window, rear wash/wipe, internally adjustable door mirrors, Panasonic K05 radio cassette, centre console, driver’s seat height adjustment, rev counter, digital clock, split folding rear seat, three-spoke sports steering wheel, vanity mirror, courtesy lighting. Factory Options; Metallic paint.

EXTERIOR
This original a rare Polo Mk2F is finished in factory optional Satin Silver Metallic, (Code X1). Having covered just 34,637 miles from new, this preserved example boasts factory panels which are pin straight and the original paint finish presents beautifully with a uniform shine throughout. The underside is superb and even the wheel arch apertures are clean with a factory finish. Meticulous close scrutiny reveals little more than very light aged related markings that are hardly worthy of mention. All trim is intact with exception of a small area of damage to the driver’s door mirror housing. Originality seekers will be pleased to see supplying Volkswagen dealer number plates still fitted. A very rare and unspoilt survivor.

INTERIOR
The term ‘time warp’ can often be misused but is absolutely suitable in this instance. The Modekaro Check Cloth upholstery in Grey, (Code 48), is perfect with no visible wear or markings to the seats and matching door cards. The quality interior plastics, fascia and trim are all unmarked and items such as the steering wheel and gear knob display prominent veins found only on low mileage cars. All equipment and controls operate perfectly including the original Panasonic K05 radio cassette and the switchgear has a satisfying superior feel. The clean boot area houses the full spare wheel along with the original jack and wheel brace. The factory build options sticker remains attached to the inner rear wheel arch and the paper label is still intact in the driver’s door aperture. Premium Volkswagen quality at its best.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The original 1043cc four-cylinder petrol engine develops 45bhp and 76Nm of torque to achieve a top speed of 90mph and 0-62mph in 20.5 seconds, perfectly pedestrian performance when often passed down through the generations of novice first time drivers to come! The engine bay is super clean and original features such as factory stickers, plates, panel stamps and paper labels remain untouched. The engine performs brilliantly and 4-speed manual transmission feel sturdy and precise.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The standard Genesis specification steel wheels wear the original flush-fitting full wheel covers in immaculate condition. Quality branded Uniroyal Rallye 155/70 R13 tyres show ample tread. Diagonally split circuits brakes with servo assistance and front discs bring the car to a steady and straight halt.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new on the 19th November 1992 by Volkswagen Main Dealer, Page Motors Limited of Bournemouth, the car has had just two former keepers from new, two of which being Mother and Son respectively. Mr Morris purchased the car new and owned it for three years at which point he was convinced by the pioneering newcomers to the UK motoring market, Daewoo, to whom the Polo was part exchanged for one of their brand-new models. Mrs Short subsequently purchased the car directly from the Daewoo Car Centre as a used vehicle at which point the car had covered just 15,955 miles. She owned the car for 25 years until in January 2020 the difficult decision was made to cease driving on health grounds, at which point the car was transferred to her son, Mr Nick Short.

The original service booklet contains a remarkable 26 stamped entries, incredible for such a low mileage car and an insight to the care this example has enjoyed with less than 50 miles covered since the most recent service. All handbooks, manuals and Daewoo dealership point of sale literature is included in the document wallet and there are two Volkswagen keys. Completing the history file is an original Polo range sales brochure. Personal inspection and drive of this example will not fail to impress for what is a rare surviving and cherished example of the iconic Polo ‘Breadvan’ design.
