This wonderful Mazda MX-5 in factory original Brilliant Black, (Code PZ), boasts a stunning deep gloss shine and superb finish. The excellent finish to the paintwork is owing to the low mileage and garage storage from new. The underside and sills are clean and free from repair work and excess applied underseal. Miniscule markings are visible on close scrutiny, and worthy of mention are light markings to one rear mudguard and the nearside door mirror. A tiny light ding to the bonnet edge and driver’s door are barely visible. The black canvas hood is in perfect order with a tight fit, and the clear rear plastic window shows only light markings. The neat fitting tonneau cover is perfect. The epitome of a modern classic sports car, preserved and ready to enjoy.
INTERIOR
Trimmed in the standard Black Cloth upholstery, (Code NA3), this interior is exactly how Mazda intended. Everything is co-ordinated and operates perfectly with the superb quality feel familiar to MX5 owners. The seats remain in exceptional order with none of the common bobbling and bolster wear. The expensive wooden Nardi-Torino steering wheel is a work of art, as are the bright chrome optional roll-hoops, an attractive safety feature. The classic sports dashboard houses a cluster of crystal clear instruments that function precisely. The tailored MX5 over mats remain in place and protect the immaculate black carpeting. The tool kit, wheel brace and covered space saver wheel are all present and spotlessly clean. The ultimate modern classic twin seater sports car.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
To experience a low mileage Mk 1 MX-5 is a true motoring delight. The lightweight 1.6 litre 16v DOHC engine sits low and behind the front axle to offer a low centre of gravity and centralised weight distribution making handling perfectly balanced and delightfully responsive. With 90bhp available, a top speed of 109mph and 0-60mph time of 10.6 seconds is achieved. The engine bay is spotless with factory stickers and plates intact, as well as under-bonnet factory panel stamps. The close ratio short throw gearbox provides light and precise gear changes. WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
This Mazda has been upgraded with special edition 15in five spoke alloy wheels which remain in pristine condition with Mazda logo centre caps. Quality branded tyres of size 195/50 R15 have excellent tread. Ventilated 255mm discs at the front and solid 251mm at the back install maximum braking confidence.
HISTORY FILE
This amazing example was registered new by Mazda Main Dealers, Whichford Reading Ltd, on 9th December 1997 to first owner Mrs Diana Netherton. The very low 35,831 miles from new is verified in the history file, which includes the stamped service book with last entry being November 2017 with less than 100 miles covered since! All handbooks, manuals and dealership literature are neatly contained in the grey leather Mazda wallet along with even the factory build punch cards! A Cherished registration plate is included with the car.
