EXTERIOR
Finished in the unique for the Z1B model and highly desirable, Candy Super Blue, the finish on this motorcycle is stunning. The attention to detail can be seen with correct and exact decals such as the broad gold stripe, with a thin white stripe above it, running along the bottom of the fuel tank and continuing along the tailpiece curving upwards at the rear. Beautifully detailed, but not to the detriment of originality, this example is a useable showpiece. Purists will notice the correct Z1B attributes such as the speedometer calibrated in increments of 10mph and the side cover nomenclature DOUBLE OVERHEAD CAMSHAFT in black lettering inset into an alloy background. All the chrome has a mirror finish and the lower swing arm has some minor stone chips. The original instrument cowling finished in black are included. The frame number is clearly stamped and correct. The original ornate four exit exhaust system still has the KHI 900Z part numbers visible on this matching numbers bike. Iconic in every way.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The four stroke four cylinder in-line transversely mounted air cooled DOHC engine has a displacement of 903cc and produces a thumping 82bhp, enough to smoothly propel the owner to a top speed of 132mph. Work totalling thousands by Rising Sun Restorations for a full crank up engine rebuild is included in the history file. The engine number is Z1E071938 and is correct along with the Mikuni carburettors. The exhaust note is spine-tingling and changing through the 5-speed constant mesh gearbox is a joy.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
This Z900 retains its beautiful original chrome Takasago wire wheels in exceptional condition and shod in premium Bridgestone 100/90-19 front and 120/90-18 rear tyres. A hydraulically operated single 296mm disc and rod operated 200mm single leading shoe drum brake stop this powerful bike safely.
HISTORY FILE
This 1975 Kawasaki Z1B chassis number Z1F71774, represents a very original unmolested example that has formed part of a privileged collection worthy of a museum. Arriving in the UK in 2011 and cherished since, a history file comprises of a tatty owners manual, old MOT certificates and invoices. A very rare opportunity for the discerning collector.
