SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

An innovative Saab 900S 16V with only 65,727 miles and two keepers.

EQUIPMENT
Panoramic laminated windscreen, tinted windows, halogen headlamps, headlamp wipers, impact absorbing bumpers, side mouldings, rear rubberised spoiler, front spoiler, centralised brake light, electric door mirrors, centralised locking, electric front windows, transmission lock, power assisted steering, tachometer, automatic electrically heated front seats, Philips PLL Quartz Tuning 550 stereo.  Factory options; Metallic paintwork.  Dealer accessories; Saab tailored floor mats, Saab Scania car wash/wax, Saab Scania screen wash.

EXTERIOR
This pioneering and distinctive Saab 900S is finished in original and factory optional Iridium Silver Metallic, (Code 220).  The paintwork is remarkably well preserved with a bright uniform shine and smooth polished finish from the quality factory coating.  Minor age related markings are visible upon scrutiny and specifically worthy of mention is a shallow undulation to the nearside front wing and a treated blemish to the bonnet.  Typical Saab characteristics such as the large safety impact bumpers and wraparound panoramic windscreen are in excellent order, and all glass pieces are factory fitted with Saab etchings.  All other trims sections are excellent and original supplying Saab dealer number plates and rear screen sticker remain fitted.  A beautiful example of the Saab 900S, arguably considered one of the last revolutionary and quality vehicles designed by the Swedish firm prior to GM involvement.

INTERIOR
The manufacturers primary focus being safety and comfort is immediately evident as you access the cabin through huge wide-opening doors and sink into the sumptuous and incredibly comfortable seats.  The spotless Horizon velour upholstery in Marine, (Code F44), is in exceptional order with no damage and virtually no wear, commensurate of a car having covered just 65,727 miles under enthusiast long term ownership.  All functions and controls operate perfectly including the Philips PLL Quartz Tuning 550 stereo, and the switch gear and trims sections are pristine.  The headlining is as new having been subject to an expensive re-trim in 2017.  Quirky SAAB features such as the reverse transmission lock and thermostatically controlled heated seats remind you of the maker’s vision for innovation and lateral thinking.  Enormously comfortable and preserved to an outstanding level.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Fitted with the in-line four-cylinder non-catalytic engine of 1985cc displacement, the power output is quoted at 133bhp at 6000rpm and 173Nm at 3000rpm.  The engine performs impeccably having been fastidiously maintained from new, and the engine compartment is beautifully clean with factory stickers, plates and identification tags present and clearly visible.  The five-speed manual M5N gearbox is solid, precise and typically well engineered.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Factory fitted 5½J x 15 light alloy wheels are un-refurbished and remain in excellent order with only faint scratches.  Quality brand 185/60 R15 tyres have good tread levels and the original compact spare is housed in the clean boot area complete with jack and wheel brace.  The boot area even holds the Saab Scania wax treatment and screen washer bottles, and the factory paint and trim code sticker is displayed.  The power assisted braking system incorporates 280mm front and 258mm rear discs to offer very capable stopping power.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new on 10th August 1990 by SAAB Main Dealer, Crightons’ of Peterborough, this example has covered a fully verified 65,727 miles from new with only one former keeper.  The first keeper, Mrs Anne Mosser, owned the vehicle until April 1993 when at less than three years old it returned to Crightons’ of Peterborough to be sold as an Approved Used Saab to the second long term and only keeper since, Mr John Clements.

The history file is fantastic with devoted and fastidious servicing evident throughout.  The original Saab service book displays no less than 26 stamped entries with the supplying dealer up to 2002 and specialist thereafter, the most recent entry in June 2017.  KGF Classic Cars Operations Manager clearly remembers the car having worked for Crightons’ as a teenager many years ago!  The original Saab leather folder also contains all handbooks, guides, radio instructions and even the Salesman and staff member business cards.  A folder of invoices and previous MOT certificates completes the history file along with a new car sales brochure and Saab Service Club membership literature.  This low mileage, original and unmolested example is simply unmissable for the ardent Saab Connoisseur.
